THE AUDIO COMPONENT IN TEACHING CZECH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Smrčková, Tereza ; Šebesta, Karel (advisor) ; Mašín, Jaroslav (referee)
(in English): This thesis deals with the issues of teaching listening in Czech as a foreign language. It is based on studying theoretic sources, structured observing and the comparison of didactic materials, on questionnaires and informal interviews. In its theoretical part, it brings a brief overview of present knowledge in this field, using predominantly foreign sources that deal with teaching English as a foreign language. The second part enables the comparison of various didactic materials from the points of view acquired in the previous chapter, and it also provides an overview of the typology of listening tasks, including their evaluation. The last chapter designs some new sample materials based on what has been found out about their imperfections in this field so far, and it also mentions some suitable resources for designing the new listening tasks. The merit of this thesis on the theoretical level consists of making the main results of contemporary Anglo-American science accessible for the Czech auditory, on the practical level it lies in presenting an overall list of listening tasks and showing (in the Czech materials) some so far unknown possibilities of teaching the listening comprehension, these alternatives being accompanied with practical examples.
Psychological and social aspects of mobbing in an organization
Smrčková, Tereza ; Šnýdrová, Ivana (advisor) ; Krištofová, Zuzana (referee)
Mobbing is a specific form of mental violence characterised by orderliness, premeditation and long-lasting attacks with an increasing intensity. The causes and evolution of this pathological phenomen can be seen not only in the psychological and sociological fields but also in the insufficiencies that arise from the very principles of every organisation. The main motive, considered the background of mobbing, is usually the need to get rid of an "incommodius" colleague. The originator of mobbing tries not to lose or threaten his/her position and significance in the organizational hierarchy. The impacts caused by mobbing affect not only the aggressor and his/her victim but influences also the immediate environment of the persons involved. It negativelly projects into the workplace culture, into the family and other close relations of the victim and aggressor and also into the overall social climate. In my thesis I present the basic fundaments of the origins, evolvemet and impacts of mobbing in a workplace. All these elements are viewed in terms of psychological and social aspects. The emphasis is put on their imminent relation and cohesion.
The humor of Monty Pyton and the Limitations of its translation
Smrčková, Tereza ; Josek, Jiří (advisor) ; Pošta, Miroslav (referee)
This paper focuses on the translation of audiovisual humour. I have analysed Petr Palouš's translation of Monty Python's Flying Circus. The translator of audiovisual humour has to deal with the same issues and problems as the translator of literature, that is he has to find equivalents to word plays, idioms, register and so on, but at the same time he also has to comply with the restrictions of audiovisual medium. I have identified the most common translation problems when translating humour and audiovisual texts and possible strategies of their translation into the target language, and then analysed how Palouš dealt with these cruces translatorum when translating the Flying Circus.

Phraseology and advertising
Smrčková, Tereza ; Holanová, Radka (referee) ; Janovec, Ladislav (advisor)
The aim of my thesis is to analyse phraseological units in advertising; to divide them according to their predominant features on the basis of theoretical knowledge. Advertising, as one of the dominant genres of mass communication, uses various linguistic means (recently, a lot of expressions from the field of phraseology) in the interactions with the recipients to draw their attention, to influence and persuade them. The advertising strategy is always intentional, the choice of the linguistic code is the subject of only one goal to sell a product or a service. The analysis of fixed collocations is carried out on excerpts from new spapers. TV and radio programmes and the internet. Based on the specialised literature and collected linguistic material. I single out the most common forms of lraseologisms as they occur in the advertising - modifications, variants and updatings. Further in my thesis, I deal with the movement of these units, their interaction and also their loosening and fading connection w ith the advertising discursus.
