Saint Wenceslas' Church at Smichov
Sládeček, Petr ; Novotná, Eva (advisor) ; Bydžovská, Lenka (referee)
In the end of the nineteen century Smíchov was rapidly growing industrial suburb, but it lacked church, big enough, to shelter its believers. Tender on new church established in 1878 won Antonín Barvitius and Ignác Ullman. However in Archive of National technical museum, I found some interesting letters, which seems to prove that architect Schulz had originally won the tender. His project had to be redone. Finally the local authority authorized architect Ullmann to design new project. After Ullmann retirement, the project was finished by his brother-in-Law Barvitius. This fact is also mentioned in catholic magazine "Method". There is another interesting fact: Architect Schulz completed his project in 1876. But oldest project by architect Ullmann is dated 1877. Work, which lasted from 1880 to 1885 was finished by Barvitius only. The building of the church was sponsored by local authority, many associations and even by Emperor himself. Even the Archbishop had frequently visited construction site. Its interior reminds early Christian basilica, it was decorated by well known artists of thet era: Sequens, Vosmík, Šimek, Sucharda, Pirner etc. Its exterior, however was built in Toscana Renaissance, and is fine example of successful combination of bricks and various materials. Although the architect had to...
The Neorenaissance Church Architecture in Bohemia and Moravia
Sládeček, Petr ; Kuthan, Jiří (advisor) ; Rakušanová, Marie (referee) ; Švácha, Rostislav (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to systematically analyze the Neorenaissance churches and interpret them within the context of the nineteenth century architecture. During the second half of the nineteenth century in the central Europe the Neorenaissance style had become ubiquitous. However, its extensive use for secular buildings contrasts with the situation in the field of sacral architecture. New churches were designed mainly in the Neogothic style; the Neoromanesque style was also acceptable, though less frequent. Widespread reluctance towards the Renaissance, mainly among the clergy, but also among some architects, is considered to be the main reason. In monument preservation the cult of Gothic resulted in the Neogothic purism, to which usually fell victim any "ungothic" part of a historical building. Therfore, the number of Neorenaissance churches, compared to that of Neogothic, is significantly smaller. The Neo-Renaissance style, however enjoyed great popularity among Czech evangelical churches since the 1880's, mainly because it was considered to be less costly than the Gothic style. The Neorenaissance churches have not yet been systemically researched. Therfore, the research concentrates particularly on the archive materials that have not been published and are scattered around in many...
The Neorenaissance Church Architecture in Central Bohemia
Sládeček, Petr ; Novotná, Eva (advisor) ; Horáček, Martin (referee)
This thesis deals with neorenaissance eclestical architecture in Central Bohemia. I will take a closer look at several neorenaissance churches. Almost all of these buildings were built by Protestants between 1880 and 1900. However, there can be found several catholic churches built in neorenaissance style - Church of saint Venceslus by Antonín Barvitius or Church of saint Vojtěch by Bedřich Münzberger, e. g. As a consequence of the historical development the substantial amount of the protestant churches can be found along the river Elbe. In contrast to catholic churches, protestant churches tended to be smaller. Their locations were on the newly established suburbs, mostly along the main communications. Different liturgical needs resulted in simple, plain, mostly not vaulted interiors. Rather unusual building in this context is church at Libice, designed as a central, built by Čeněk Křička, an ambitions man affiliated to protestant church. It can be assumed that the building of the churches was conducted by well established architects and contractors who had a good reputation and who exceeded in talent. The cooperation between the architect and the church was often long lasting. Gottlob Alber an architect from Brno, who designed at least three churches, including the church at Nymburk, can be...

Dudáková, Marta ; Tomek, Ivan (advisor) ; Sládeček, Petr (referee)
Like in many other industries, marketing is one of the key elements of movie business even though many speak against the usage of the term marketing in film. Before the film makes it into the movie theaters, it goes through several stages, starting with development, funding, production, post production and ending with distribution. Each of these phases presents different challenges but in all of them are pieces of film marketing. In my master thesis, I am searching for features that characterise the film as a product, according to marketing theory of product development and product life. I will examine marketing theoretical approaches and search for parallels with marketing strategies of film producers.
