Extreme metal - subculture and identity

The aim of this thesis was to investigate the identity of extreme metal musicians. In the theoretical part, the terms identity, genre, subculture were defined and a brief history of extreme metal was outlined. In the empirical part, research was presented in which 8 semi-structured interviews with grindcore, black metal, trash metal and death metal musicians were analyzed using qualitative methods. Subsequently, an analysis of the interviews was carried out, from which 11 main categories emerged that characterize the individual experience of extreme metal musicians. Based on the obtained results and data from participant observation, the chapter on the identity of an extreme metal musician was created, within which 2 main areas emerged, the purity of metal and the energy of metal, which form the basic pillars of the identity of an extreme metal musician. In the following chapter, the obtained data were placed in a wider context by means of a comparison with the theoretical starting points of the work. Mapping history of music therapy in Bohemia using interview approach

This diploma work is focusing primary on capturing and approximation of historical development of the music therapy in the Czech Republic through the use of interview with several personalities taking active part in the music therapy opening or development. In the theoretical part, reader is introduced to definition of the music therapy. There are various definitions from worldwide institutions and figures. In the next chapter the work deals with various styles of the music therapy. The third chapter covers the important events and persons, which were closely connected with music therapy from prehistory till the present time. The practical part of this work forms transcriptions of mentioned interviews, concretely with these persons: Josef Krček. representative of anthroposophy music therapy, Jitka Vodňanská, Viktor Zappner and Jana Procházková as pioneers in clinical approach to music therapy, Zdeněk Šimanovský with his systemic conception, and Vlastimil Marek, perceiving by specialists as the most important person of esoteric music therapy. By the end of the work, based on these transcriptions, an actual summary comes with different kinds and views on the music therapy in the Czech Republic.

Summary The thesis is trying to clarify the base of constantly developing discipline called music therapy, specifically music therapy for people with specific needs. In the introduction the psychological value of physical disability is mentioned with a focus on a cerebral palsy. The theoretical chapter is dealing with an impact of sound on a human body considering the music therapy. Practical part is focused on designing a music therapy plan which was subsequently applied in practice with physically disabled people. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá úlohou muzikoterapie, jako podpůrného prostředku pro člověka, který potřebuje pomoc na cestě životem. Popisuje průběh a vývoj jednotlivých muzikoterapeutických setkání, jejich dopad na klienta při uvědomování si vlastních hodnot a jejich transformaci do osobního a studentského života. Práce byla vypracována na základě vývoje kazuistiky v čase, rozhovorů a reflexe celé práce. It describes the progress and development of individual music therapy meetings, their impact on the client in recognizing one's own values and their transformation into a personal and student life. The work was developed based on the development of case reports in time, interviews and reflection of the whole work. /Abstract Music Communication, Projection and Analogy of Handicapped Children in Music Therapy Presented work takes an interest in music contents produced by handicapped children attending music therapy sessions. The contents of music were gained from the children by the method of improvisation, particularly by "concert technique". In the theoretical part we present philosophical background for the music therapy in a field of special education and research. This background thought we have found in a gnoseology of a critical realism and a radical constructivism. Afterwards the definition and description of used music therapy terminology follows. We present three music therapy models that put great emphasis on the contents of music produced by clients. These models are: the German Morphological music therapy, the Dutch Analogical Music Therapy and the Geneape music therapy model from the Czech Republic. We also discuss general possibilities of using music therapy while working with mentally handicapped clients, autistic clients and clients suffering from sight defects, because these kinds of handicaps are included in our research group. Music Therapy Practices in Gerontology

The theme of this diploma thesis, as the title suggests, is the use of music therapy in gerontological practice. More specifically the thesis is focused on the use of appropriate music therapy techniques with clients of the Seniors' Home Panorama in Tachov. The theoretical part characterizes the field of music therapy, its history and presentsituation in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the reader is informed about the forms, methods and techniques of music therapy. Another part of the thesis briefly introduces the issue of old age. It deals with manifestations of old age, demographic issues or the senior care in the Czech Republic. The empirical part of the thesis is already devoted to the practical use of music therapy during work with the elderly. In the introduction, the objectives of the work are defined in relation to the target group of clients. By using the method of unstructured observation, it is determined whether the music therapy techniques fulfil predetermined goals. At the end of the work there is the evaluation of contribution of music therapy to this field.
