Silverlight technology
Kouba, Petr ; Morský, Ondřej (referee) ; Uchytil, Stanislav (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on Silverlight technology, possibilities of running and application developments. Next Windows Presentation Foundation is introduced, which Silverlight technology results from, and the principal of creation user interface in XAML. Data bindings are used for the information presentation gained from web services. Concept called Windows Communication Foundation enables relatively easy application development gaining data from different resources through web services. Principals of communication with web services based on SOAP and REST architecture are described. An application for observing current stock exchanges information was developed on the base of previous studies. The application consists of server and client side. The server side obtains data from resources which are free available. These data are published through web services. Silverlight client gets data from web services and presents them to users. User settings are stored on server in database. ADO.NET Entity Framework and Domain Service are used for the access to the database.
Algorithm Database of Digital Audio Signal Processing with Automatic Classification and Searching using Web Interface
Kouba, Petr ; Sysel, Petr (referee) ; Schimmel, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor was to design a database structure for classification source code and implementations of digital audio effects algorithms. Classification criteria for these algorithms are described in the thesis. A new project can be added to the database using web form or via of the automatic classification. The automatic classification is called a function for automatic recognition information in source files. For this purpose a format of saving catalog information into the source file was designed. These saved data can be further recognized by the suitable algorithm which utilizes PHP standard functions and then they inserted into the database. The saved projects can be searched by the project name, author’s name, the project description, or the criteria described in the introduction of this thesis.
Shift Work Tolerance and Coping Strategies of Air Traffic Controllers
Sgallová, Rebeka ; Šmotek, Michal (advisor) ; Kouba, Petr (referee)
This master's thesis examines shiftwork tolerance and coping strategies of air traffic controllers. The literary review section deals with shiftwork and its effects, shiftwork tolerance, variables associated with it and possibilities of its measurement. That is followed by a summary of coping strategies and an outline of their relationship with shiftwork tolerance. Further, the thesis presents the profession of the air traffic controller. The research part presents quantitative research investigating the distribution of the level of shiftwork tolerance among air traffic controllers, which is measured by sleep questionnaires and perceived stress. The study also examines the importance of components of shiftwork tolerance. The research is also focused on the relationship between shiftwork tolerance and coping strategies. Based on the TwoStep cluster analysis, air traffic controllers were divided into two groups regarding the level of shiftwork tolerance. The most important components for this distribution were the sleep quality index and fatigue severity. The analysis suggests a negative relationship between the level of shiftwork tolerance and the use of negative coping strategies. On the other hand, the level of shiftwork tolerance seems not to be related to the use of positive coping strategies....
Thistorted existence
Kovář, Vojtěch ; Kouba, Petr (advisor) ; Ritter, Martin (referee)
"Thistorted existence" is devoted to ontological issue of frenzy. Based on fundamental ontology it aims to contemplate existential situation of a lunatic, who himself is understood as an existence. Nevertheless, a bit of different existence than Dasein analyzed by Martin Heidegger in the Being and Time. The text strives to gain access to such different existence by an original insight at ontology in general. That gives necessary instruments and ontological notions for understanding the frenzy in its ontological essence. Thus frenzy shows itself as recovery to being and reestablishment of thistorted existence in front of the deal to be.
The Multiplicity of Being: The Ontology of Alain Badiou
Pivoda, Tomáš ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kouba, Petr (referee) ; Pechar, Jiří (referee)
Tomáš Pivoda, The Multiplicity of Being: The Ontology of Alain Badiou PhD thesis Abstract The thesis introduces for the first time in the Czech philosophical context the ontology of the French philosopher Alain Badiou, as he set it out in his fundamental work Being and Event (L'être et l'événement, 1988). It first presents the starting point of Badiou's philosophy as well as the reasons of his identification of ontology with the set theory, and it points out Badiou's importance for contemporary philosophy, especially for the so called speculative realism around Quentin Meillassoux. The main axis of the exposition is then built around Badiou's four fundamental "Ideas": the multiplicity, the event, the truths and the subject, in connection with which it is shown how Badiou constructs his conceptual apparatus out of individual axioms of the set theory, whereby he follows the basic formal definition of multiplicity based on the operator . In connection with∈ the first Idea of multiplicity, the thesis exposes - with references to Martin Heidegger and Plato - Badiou's conceptual transposition of the couple one/multiple on the couple existence/being and defines the fundamental concepts of his ontology - the situation, the presentation, the representation and the void, with the help of which Badiou interprets...
Lévi-Strauss' concept of myth
Analysis of the concept of otherness from an interdisciplinary perspective
Kaiseršotová, Tereza ; Kouba, Petr (referee) ; Soukup, Václav (referee)
The thesis aspires to present Otherness as an important phenomenon pervading broad spectrum of socioscientific disciplines and approaches. The diversity of provided opinions emphasize relevance and interdisciplinary overlap of the analysed term. The variety of given approaches also corresponds with scientific principles characteristic of culturological work. The interdisciplinarity respecting culturological background informs the whole text. A different character of each chapter creates the interdisciplinary perspective. The first one is written in a socially anthropological way. It is based namely on the personalities of Mary Tew Douglas and Claude Lévi-Strauss. Marc Augé or Tzvetan Todorov and their interpretation of the Otherness also take place in this chapter. The next one tries to deal with the theme of Otherness by means of sociological, feministic and postfeministic approaches. There is also reserved a special place for the erotism of Georges Bataille and the orientalism of Edward W. Said. The third chapter is oriented purely philosophically - it draws especially from the postmodern philosophy and the phenomenology. The final chapter tries to bring a genealogical dimension to intensify the analysis of the concept of Otherness. There is also an attempt at a theoretical generalization in the thesis....
The apology of sliding movement. Philosophical interpretation of the novel of Hermann Hesse Der Steppenwolf
Petříčková, Taťána ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kouba, Petr (referee) ; Stašková, Alice (referee)
The core work is a philosophical interpretation of the novel by H. Hesse 'Steppenwolf, but as a whole this work is an attempt to develop a broader context of literary works. Therefore, the constitutive part of the game as thematization philosophical problems (including issues understanding the world and each other in understanding the meaning of the rules of the game) thematization artistic creation in relation to mimesis and in particular the presentation of a performance practice that is not a commentary, nor the contents and is more in developing motion amplification. The first part is a philosophical analysis of the concept of the game with regard to its basic characteristics, aspects, forms (especially the extreme form of the game - Carnival), and provide specifics of the game - in a sense, slipping after the fact. "The second part develops interpretive possibilities Hesse steppe wolf, which tracks the movement of the game through the lens' individual moments of this work with regard to its chronology. The main chronotope the novel is being on the border, on the doorstep, at the time of festivity - Carnival time, which refers As for openness, unconditional hospitality 'otherness of the world. A broader interpretation context, it allows to consider the motives of such rolling movement, the heterotopia...
Vtělenost ve vztahu k novým technologiím
Gutierrez, Ivan ; Kouba, Petr (advisor) ; Kera, Denisa (referee) ; Wellner, Galit (referee)
This dissertation is an empirically responsive philosophical exploration into the incorporation of technological tools within a framework comprising the structures of experience laid out in the early phenomenological tradition and an analysis of agency drawing from the analytical tradition. Technological tools have become so deeply integrated in our lives that they function like a part of us, transforming what we feel we can do and even who we are. Although new spaces of autonomous agency have been opened up, since the inner workings of technological tools can remain invisible, we risk diminishing our own capacities. Since we are fundamentally embedded in the world, we cannot understand ourselves without reference to the world and we cannot understand the world without reference to the way we are. The uniqueness involved in our use of technological tools grows out of a more primordial uniqueness that makes technological tool use possible and sets us apart from our closest evolutionary relatives. Several animals extend their physical influence on the environment by means of tools. We humans, however, use tools to extend our cognitive abilities as well. And since the computer is the most universal human tool, which can be put to sensorimotor and cognitive purposes alike, we take the computer to be...
Jesus or Caesar? The Concept of the Democracy in the Light of the Reflection of T. G. Masaryk's and C. Schmitt's Political Thought
Bergmann, Dominik ; Kouba, Petr (advisor) ; Němec, Václav (referee)
Keywords: democracy, humanity, violence, absolutism, discussion, decision Thomas G. Masaryk was a supporter of humanism and humanist democracy. Carl Schmitt criticized such conceptions. In this thesis I would like to show that their different attitudes are an effect of different foundational concepts in their political thought. Masaryk believed that political philosophy wasn't nothing else than zoology, if it hadn't morality in her foundations. Schmitt saw the starting point of every true political theory in violent characteristic of human being. For Masaryk the democracy is in the end a moral ideal, the humanity, by which human beings abandon all the violence and they resolve all their potential conflicts by the discussion. I will show in this thesis, that moral equality of human beings cannot be proper foundation of democracy and that Masaryk demands too much to make possible to realize his democratic vision. The democracy in Schmitt's view is an authoritative violent regime where the individuality should be totally suppressed and a political relevance of the morality too.
