Profession requirements of crisis intervents working with crime victims

This master's thesis is dedicated to the topic of the demands of the position of crisis or trauma counsellors who work with victims of crime. The theoretical part describes the workload of crisis counsellors, espexially the thesis focuses on crisis intervention. The specifics of crisis intervention for victims of crime are also described. Thesis describes who is the victim of crime and what are the psychological effects of crime on the victim. Thesis also describes how to talk to victims of crime, what are the specifics of this intervention. Again the thesis focuses on the workload of crisis counsellors and the demands on this position. Furthemore, the thesis describes the characteristics of the position itself, it also focuses on the description of the workplace. In the next part, the thesis focuses on stress and its negative consequences, as a negative phenomenon that occurs in the work of counsellors. Selected personality characterics of violent crime perpetrator and their relation to the features of their offence

This diploma thesis is focused on the topic from the field of forensic psychology, mainly on the relationship between the personality of criminal offender and its reflection in the commission of crime. The theoretical part deals with the analysis of crime scene and crime scene investigation from the perspective of criminalistics with an overlap to other parts of forensic psychology. It also involves the typology of organized and disorganized offender and description of their personalities and behavior at the crime scene, specifically the issue of the characteristics of the modus operandi of murder in relation to the crime scene is classified. Attention is also paid to the forensic medical issues, injuries of the victim, from the point of view of forensic psychology. Last chapter of the theoretical part is focused on offender's personality, especially potential psychopathology. The empiric part is focused on searching for the relationships between personality variables of the offender and the way how the violent crime (murder) was committed. The research based on analysis of evidence and psychologists - experts testimony revealed particular connections and the data from the analyzed sample (of 40 crimes) refer in particular to the disorganized offender and behavior at the crime scene.
Specifics of providing crisis intervention in the services of the Integrated Rescue System

The bachelor thesis focuses on the specifics of providing crisis intervention in Integrated Rescue System services. The first chapter describes the crisis, its types and phases, the second chapter defines the emergency in the context of the Integrated Rescue System interventions. The next chapter describes the types of psychosocial care in the Czech Republic and the indication and risk groups of the population. The fifth chapter contains a description of individual methods of assistance provided by the Integrated Rescue System, which are individual methods of short-term psychosocial intervention and methods of the Critical Incidence Stress Management system. The following chapters of the bachelor thesis describe the services of the Integrated Rescue System, which are the Fire Rescue System of the Czech Republic, the Medical Rescue Service and the Police of the Czech Republic. Positives and barriers of communication healthcare staff with patient

This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of the positive aspects and the barriers in communication of a healthcare staff with a patient. The theoretical part of the thesis gives an overview of the findings in a positive act leading to an improvement of a pacient's both physical and a psychological state. The special emphasis is put on an empathy of a healthcare staff with the patient, a patient-centered communication, listening to the patient and a shared decision making, which are all the factors improving not only the reflexion of the patient but the clinical results as well. Consequently the topics of hope and compliance, which also affect the healing process, are surveyed. Furthermore the barriers hindering an effective communication are surveyed. The thesis also focuses on the methods that help to overcome the barriers and intensify the influence of positive aspects in the communication. Causes of conflicts in working teams of Emergency Medical Services and their possible consequences

This bachelor thesis is focused on teamwork skills of the members of the Emergency Medical Services crews in the Czech Republic. It highlights the importance of interpersonal conflicts as one of the key components influencing team effectiveness and shows that the causes of conflicts are interrelated, so teamwork as a whole is important. The research part presents an experiment aimed at determining the effectiveness of the use of the Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS) intervention. This strategy is based on American Crew Resource Management (CRM) and focuses on five key areas of teamwork: team structure, communication, leadership, situational monitoring and mutual support. The experiment uses one experimental and one control group, the independent variable is TeamSTEPPS 2.0 Fundamentals training. Child and its relationship with mother sentenced to prison sentence

This bachelor thesis occupies with the relationship between an imprisoned mother and her child. In the theoretical part there are mentioned the consequences of a mother's imprisonment on her family and the child and the main options regarding the way how can a mother stay in contact with the child in the Czech republic and abroad. There is afterwards described in more detail the possibility of a child, until the age of 3, residing with his mother in the Světlá nad Sázavou prison. The main purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the provided care for the child in the prison in comparison with his developmental needs. The following proposed qualitative study aims on mapping this possibility and on determining the type of attachment between the imprisoned mother and her child, as well as detecting the crutial factors that enable an establishemt of a sure attachment in the prison environment.
The Posttraumatic Growth of the Paramedics

This master thesis follows up the topic of posttraumatic growth of paramedics. The first part clarifies the concept of posttraumatic growth and factors which influence the process of growth that is following the trauma. The most substantial models of posttraumatic growth are also included. A paramedic as a profession is described, too. In this part, requirements for paramedics and possible intervences often used to handle with the stressful event. The empiric part deals with the relationship between posttraumatic growth and coping strategies among paramedics. A use of positive coping strategies is a possible way how to reach a higher level of post traumatic growth. The questionnaires PTGI and SVF 78 are used in the research to detect the level of posttraumatic growth achieved and the coping strategy that is used by the participants. The questionnaire PTGI detects the change in five areas: relationships with other people, stregths, new opportunities, change in spiritual areas and understanding of life. The research shows positive corelation between the level of posttraumatic growth and following coping strategies: control of situation, control of reactions and positive self- instruction. Psychological issues in severe burn trauma

Burn injury is one of the most serious traumatic events with possible psychological and psychosocial consequences. This paper deals with a topic not yet explored in Czech Republic - (especially) psychological factors affecting the response to trauma in order to identify patients with worse response, who require more attention of experts. The theoretical part of the paper describes burn injury as an extremely stressful event and presents factors that co- determine the individual's response to the trauma. It also describes the most common mental problems observed in people with burns. The theoretical part serves as a basis for the empirical part of the paper which presents our own research of exploratory character. The aim of the research was to identify the factors related to depression, anxiety and patient's perception of health, in a research sample of 52 adult patients shortly before hospital discharge. Minority of patients in our sample reported moderate and severe depression and anxiety symptoms. Health perception of most patients corresponded to average values in normal population while depression was found as its predictor and it also correlated with the personality traits neuroticism, introversion and consciousness. Psychological aspects of chronic pain focusing on the personality of patients

This thesis deals with the psychological aspects of chronical pain with focusing on personality. The theoretical part is divided into two main domains. The first one is devoted to psychological aspects of chronic pain, what does chronic pain change in patients experiecing. Next domain is mainstay of the thesis that personality of patient involve perception of pain, and that different types of personality have different experience with chronic pain. After that will deal with researches of pain personality. Each chapter is designed to summarize the basic data of the subject and to present the current state of research in the given field. In the research proposal, a quantitative personality study will be created using the TCI inventory, which is the operationalization of the Cloninger model.
