Dědková, Kateřina ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is the design of an motel for highway drivers in India. The building is located in the part called Kannadi in the district Pallakad nearby road National Highway 544, which is connected from the south side. Right next to the area aren’t built any other objects. The work shows the design of the alone standing building, which is divided into 4 blocks. The most of the area is used as accommodation, the other parts as restaurant and shop. The main role in designing was Indian religion and local traditions, which were inspiration in the layout and aesthetic solution of the building. The sections are connected thanks to the atrium in the middle and to the rooms in the second ground is the main entrance through the built-on gallery. All rooms are supposed to be for 2 residents and don’t include a sanitary facilities (these are common, 2 on the floor). The design is using traditional materials and the façade is made by overhanging panels from metal frame knitted by colorful cord from recycled plastic (or textile). As a result of this is possible to make people think of the pollution in the world and mainly in India. Colors refer to their religion, which are used even on their typical trucks, they should bring the protection and safety on the way before the drivers come back to the families. Panels are also used as the shading element.
Motel for truck drivers in India
Navrátilová, Petra ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The subject of the assignment is the design of a new motel in India that provides its participating party, mainly truck drivers, 3 different levels of rest: a quick stop for rest and refreshment, areas for sharing and eating food, areas for sleeping and longer rest, all in a cost-effective way. The parcel is located in the west of the city of Kannadi. There are no existing buildings on it and the surrounding land is used for agricultural purposes. A slip road from National Highway 544, which connects Salem in Tamil Nadu and Kochi in Kerala, will be taken to the site. The motel is located approximately in the middle of the site. Truck park is located at the back/north of the site so that the motel is clearly visible from the highway. There is car park in the front part of the site. The motel is inspired by the nalukettu house, which is typical for the region. The fundamental building block of the entire motel are two two-story blocks where the accommodation units are located. These blocks are enclosed by solid walls, protecting the rooms from noise and overheating. The heart of the house is the courtyard, to which the surrounding rooms are directed. Through this courtyard, the sun enters the rooms and they are also ventilated by it. The dining and social part is located near the road, which can also serve non-accommodating guests (bistro, store and public toilets). The glass facade supports the magnetizing attention of customers. Thanks to the trucks park in the back part of the site, a corridor was created and connects it with the front part. From the corridor there is access to secondary and storage areas, through a light-lit door. From there, guests can also reach two almost identical two-story accommodation blocks via the reception. There are cell rooms in them, including an entrance hall, sanitary facilities and two four-bed rooms. The right block include a barrier-free room on the 1st floor. The front part of the motel, which is also accessible to the public, is divided into 2 parts. The left half contains the shop and public toilets and the right bistro with service areas. Materials are selected with regard to sustainability, locality and high quality, such as thermal permeability, acoustics or fire safety. The structural system is mixed, made of brick blocks and reinforced concrete columns, reinforced concrete ceilings and a floor. The facade is pre-set wall made of recycled burnt bricks. The interiors are covered with clay plaster.

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to design a mixed use apartment building on the corner of the streets of Táborská and Nezamyslova with a dominant chapel. The land is located in Brno - Židenice. There are two buildings on the plot, following the surrounding area, which is predominantly residential. Both of these objects have a simple, cubic form with a brick facade, which features extended window jamb lining with a segment window shutter system. These envelopes combine multiple windows in some places to break a uniform raster created by the regular arrangement of the elements. On the ground floor of both buildings are commercially available spaces. On the above-ground floors of the buildings are located flats of size 3 + kk, 1 + kk and 2 + kk. Underground spaces of one of the buildings are used by an automatic parking system. Buildings have a different flooring, which is given in relation to the building in the adjacent street. Within the bachelor's thesis, only one of these objects was elaborated.
Zig Zag Houses
Ňukovičová, Karin ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
On the basis of my study sketched in the second year of my studies at Faculty of Civil Engineering, the following bachelor thesis is elaborated and the study is further divided into the Documentation for building permit and Documentation for building construction. The thesis deals with Zig Zag houses in Masaryk district in Brno. I have designed two main separate objects with a common glazing passage – atrium divided into two separate parts. The design is a unique solution to long narrow dispositions, designed to make residential parts of the buildings as bright as possible. The buildings are designed as four-storey with two underground and two above-ground floors. On the first underground floor there is an underground garage, which connects two separate residential buildings. One residential part of the building includes four maisonettes. In the entrance glazed atrium there is a tree that functions as a design element and to improves the air of the common areas of the apartment buildings. This atrium serves not only as an entry area, but we also get through it into common garages and a common garden behind the house. From a construction point of view, the object is a synthesis of Porotherm wall system and reinforced concrete that solidifies the whole building due to the long and narrow disposition. The main goal of the work was to create an object that provides home for young people, flexible families, and also allows them to spend time in airy space.

Villa apartment in Masaryk district
Chriašteľová, Nikola ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor) ; Petříček, Tomáš (advisor)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is the design of HR villa house in Masaryk's’ district, Brno. The Masarykova čtvrť (original name of this part) is characterized by its historical and functionalist development, with villas of Brno factory workers and German officials, remaining small garden city. In the surroundings, we can find buildings from architects such as Ernst Wiesner or Bohuslav Fuchs. Strong genius loci, corner location of the plot and the views from the north-facing slope were a key to the concept of my design. Main idea is to create residential with a higher standard of the current requirements of living, while at the same time, it's mass and the material solution will complement the character of the surrounding development. HR villa house is a four-storey building with a sloped 4th floor and a rounded corner complemented by bay windows. The shape of the building was created in response to neighbouring semi-detached houses. Its shape complements the imaginary curve, which is created as a connection of these objects. There is 1 housing unit on each floor. Moreover, apartment on the first floor has own adjacent garden. The common roof terrace offers not only views of Brno, but also supports community activities of the residents.
