International assessment of higher education systems and institutions DISSERTATION (2022) Ing. Aleš Bartušek ABSTRACT The dissertation responds to a relatively new phenomenon related to significant transformations of higher education systems in recent decades. The gradual globalization, massification and diversification of higher education have undoubtedly led to a shift from the traditional concept and increased the global need for the availability of understandable and comparable information. That is why the first international assessments of higher education institutions began to appear. The aim of the dissertation was to analyse these newly emerging initiatives and contribute to the correct understanding and interpretation of published data. This has been achieved by monitoring major trends in broader context and by analysing the methodologies and results of the most significant global initiatives led by Academic Ranking od World Universities (ARWU), QS World University Ranking (QS) and THE World University Ranking (THE). Despite many limitations and criticisms, published international assessments of higher education institutions are the first efforts to identify and measure quality at a global level. They are also valuable in that they stimulate discussion on this issue. By discussing the significance,...
An influence of the Bologna Process on Czech higher education with respect to Charles University
Šťastná, Věra ; Walterová, Eliška (advisor) ; Šebková, Helena (referee) ; Koucký, Jan (referee)
The thesis is devoted to the Bologna Process, especially to the transition to the three-cycle sys- tem of degree programmes. Its aim is to show, based on both qualitative and quantitative data, how the Bologna process has permeated from the European level to the national level and how it has influenced Charles University. In the first two parts the basic research method is struc- tured content analysis of relevant Bologna and national documents. In the third, empirical part, which concentrates on Charles University, the research questions are aimed at identifying prob- lems connected with the implementation of the three-cycle system, the preference for returning to undivided Master's degree programmes, the vertical permeability of degree programmes, the early leavings and the length of study. Based on a questionnaire survey and quantitative data a multiple case study analysis has been developed. Among others it concludes that 1) the return to undivided degree programmes is not considered to be viable option by most of the faculties, 2) with the dividing line resting on professional or academic orientation of the degree pro- gramme, 3) the transition to the three-cycle system has often led to a high number of specialized degree programmes which according to the faculties has promoted attractiveness...

Cooperation of nurce and patient in nefrology ambulance
ŠŤASTNÁ, Věra
This bachelor's thesis deals with the cooperation between nurses and patients in selected nephrological outpatients' departments. The results of this research investigation can influence the nurses' and patients' behaviour and manners in nephrological or other outpatients' departments in a highly positive way, thus contributing to the improvement of their mutual cooperation. Nephrological outpatients' departments provide care to all patients with renal dysfuction, and patients suffering from chronic renal insufficiency undergo a permanent medicamentous treatment there. Nephrological outpatients' departments represent a very important intermediate stage of pre-dialysis period dealing with a complex preparation of the patients before supplementary therapeutic methods (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis) are used. Nurses working in this outpatients' department is an absolutely essential element as they have to get the patient acquainted with the measures of treatment aiming at mitigating the impact of the kidneys' dysfunction and to motivate the patient to participate in treating their disease. Therefore, it is important for the nurses and the patients to share mutual trust and cooperation. The aim of this research investigation was to find out about the cooperation between a nurse and a patient in a nephrological outpatients' department. In order to find out about the cooperation between a nurse and a patient a qualitative form of the research investigation based on a semi-structured dialogue has been used. Consequently casuistries have been created on the basis of the dialogues with the individual respondents. Based on the casuistries classification tables have been compiled where the most important results of the research are summarized. There were 6 research questions specified at the very beginning of the research investigation. All of the questions have been answered. After the research questions had been answered, we arrived at the conclusion that the cooperation between a nurse and a patient in nephrological outpatients' departments was generally very good. We would like to present the results of this bachelor's thesis in professional conferences or seminars. The results of this research investigation could help the nurses in nephrological outpatients' departments and also in other outpatients' facilities to improve the mutual cooperation and communication in their outpatients' departments. And consequently to improve the nursing care for the patients.

The position of nurses in internal expert outpatients{\crq} departments.
ŠŤASTNÁ, Věra
This bachelor thesis deals with the position of nurses in internal expert outpatients{\crq} departments. The current position of nurses in the internal outpatients{\crq} departments is special and demanding. We cannot imagine how the health care service would work without them. An outpatients{\crq} nurse has several tasks that she should master and carry out smoothly {--} it is the role of an educator, an attorney, a manager, a provider of health care, a mentor, a researcher and a carrier of all changes. The relation between the doctor and the nurse is also highly important; it should be friendly, considerate and mutually respectful, and their cooperation should be based on equal rights. Internal outpatients{\crq} department provide health care to patients with various diseases of internal organs. Nurses are a significant part of the medical team. The departments serve as places of the first contact of the client with the medical staff. Professional approach and communication with the patient are expected. A quality medical and nursing care is unthinkable without communication between the client and the nurse. Patients vary in their behaviour and reactions but certain manifestations of behaviour are common to certain groups of people. The objective of my work is to find out the position of nurses in selected internal expert outpatients{\crq} departments. In order to fulfil this objective I applied the qualitative research. The method of collection of data consisted in half-structured interviews with 35 standardized questions carried out with nurses in selected internal outpatients{\crq} departments. The interviews were completely anonymous. Three nurses were interviewed in every selected internal outpatients{\crq} department. The whole research was carried out in the Motol University Hospital in Prague. 9 nurses took part in the research (3 nurses from the department of diabetology, 3 nurses from the department of endocrinology and 3 nurses from the rheumatologic department). The interviews with nurses from individual outpatients{\crq} departments were the basis of case histories. Those served as the research groundwork for elaboration of 11 categorizing charts that summarize the most important results of the research. Thanks to our research findings and meeting the objective of our research we found out that the position of nurses in selected expert internal outpatients{\crq} departments is good though financially undervalued. High demands, mainly in the sphere of communication with patients and other medical staff, are placed on them. The research further showed that the nurses mainly work as educators and their job description mostly consists in administrative and nursing work. They have adequate working conditions. They also provide information to patients orally as well as by means of practical demonstrations. On the other hand, nurses in outpatients{\crq} departments suffer from more displays of stress.
