The Integral - A philosophically questioning appreciation about Ken Wilber

Kenneth "Ken" Earl Wilber (born January 31, 1949 in Oklahoma City) is an American writer in the field of integral theory. He is considered a post-postmodern contemporary philosopher. He lives and works in Denver. Wilber writes in particular on philosophy, psychology, mysticism and spiritual evolution. His approach encompasses the humanities and natural sciences as well as psychology and the universal knowledge of the teachings of wisdom. In recent years he has developed an integral model with the help of which "eternally valid knowledge," also known as "Philosophia Perennis," can be applied to all areas of life. For example, in the field of psychology, the result is integral mod- els of therapy. On the one hand, Wilber would like to combine science with the spiritual theories and traditions of religions, including intercultural religious experience. On the other hand, his approach aims at a reconciling and constructive exchange between all (specialized) disciplines (e.g. philosophy, psy- chology, various forms of therapy, pedagogy, biology, physics, ecology, medicine, economics, poli- tics and many others). Prolegomena zur phänomenologischen materialen Wertethik bei Max Scheler: Vom Materialen Apriori bis zum emotionalen Apriori in Bezug auf I. Kant und E. Husserl ZHANG Wei Abstract This essay is an investigation on Scheler's phenomenological material ethics of value against the background of his thoughts of ethics. It discusses the static founding-relation of Scheler's material apriorism and his phenomenological meta-ethics in the context of Kant and Husserl. The introduction includes three basic questions of ethics. The first one is the fundamental question of ethics, that is, "how should men live?" The second one is the leading question of ethics, that is, "what is good?" The third one is the grounding question of ethics, that is, "whether is the ethics founded on reason or feeling/emotions at all?" These three questions form a wide background of ideas for the investigation of Scheler's phenomenological material ethics of value. Will to Power and Eternal Return: A critical Reading of Heidegger's Interpretation of Nietzsche

The aim of this paper will be to propose a new interpretation of the Nietzschean notion of "eternal return", following the Heideggerian approach. Given that the hermeneutical situation that grounds Heidegger"s reading is the problem of technology, I will start by showing in what measure is it one and the same with the end of metaphysics. The accomplishment of the latter is to be found, for Heidegger, in Nietzsche"s philosophy, which transforms the becoming into an immutable, eternal being. If the will to power undergoes the same movement as the one developed by technology, it is because they are both a way of revealing that renders something present. The eternal return would consist, therefore, in the affirmation of this presence as a "now" that never goes past. Nevertheless, I will try to show that Heidegger"s reading is not limited to a perspective of time seen as a chain of equal "nows", but that it offers also another path for understanding the eternal return. The thought of the eternal return could be itself regarded as event within the circle, introducing thus as essential discontinuity. Titel : Die Spirale in der Kunst. Ästhetische, ethische und politische Herausforgerungen. Abstract : In dieser Arbeit haben wir ein typologischer Katalog der verschiedenen Kunstwerke, in denen die Spiralform vorkommt, aufgestellt. Es handelte sich darum, die symbolische Bedeutung dieser in der abendländischen Kunst häufig vorkommenden Form zu erforschen. Wir sind ihre Verwandlungen in verschiedenen Kunstformen - die Architektur, die Malerei, die Musik, den Film, etc. - gefolgt, und versuchten, ihre verschiedenen Funktionen zu unterscheiden, von der ornamentalen Rolle, die sie in der Ionischen Ordnung zu haben scheint, bis zu ihrer unmittelbareren Konzeptfülle in der Renaissance Malerei und der barocksche Architektur : der Vergleich der verschiedenen Spiralen, die in der abendländischen Kunst zu finden sind, hat uns zur Unterstreichung eine Veränderung der Weise, in der die Menschen die Natur betrachten, geführt, von den Grieschichen Künstler, die die nüchternen Regularität der Spirale mochten, zu den Malern der Renaissance oder den Architekten des Barocks, die den Akzent verlegen auf die besondere Fähigkeit der logarythmischen Spirale sowohl die Prodigalität der « Natur », welche ständig neue Formen schöpft - die Spirale ist bloß eine unter diesen Formen -, als auch den geheimnisvollen, manchen Menschen...

Mullins Computational Worlds: An Information Ontology Abstract of the Master-Thesis In this thesis, 'the world', that unified, all-encompassing domain about which we speak and make apparent discoveries every day will be declared another mythology. Instead, reality will look radically different. Reality comprises distortive, aesthetic simulations. The reality that will emerge will be a computational reality, a metaphysical pluralism in which actuality and possibility vie and vex, ultimately 'collapsing' into unified information states. This is a philosophy of the transfinite; more negatively, an anti-Kantian, anti-monistic philosophy. The author seeks nothing less than a new prism through which to view traditional philosophical problems and, in the best-case scenario, create possible solutions.

Zusammenfassung der Master-Arbeit "Horizont als Grenze: Zur Kritik der Phänomenalität des Seins beim frühen Heidegger" Student: Kentarō OTAGIRI Master Erasmus Mundus EuroPhilosophie Die Absicht der Master-Arbeit liegt in der Kritik der Phänomenalität des Seins als Phänomen im horizonthaften Denken beim frühen Heidegger insbesondere im Rahmen seiner Fundamentalontologie. Hier geht es um die Grenze des Horizontes für Sein als Phänomen und des Denkens. Es stellt sich dabei die Frage: Was bedeutet die Grenze des Horizontes für das Seinsphänomen und das Denken? Dieses Problem wird durch die Auseinandersetzung zwischen dem phänomenologisch-hermeneutischen Denken Heideggers und dem Denken der Dimensionalität des Lebens bei Yoshihiro Nitta untersucht. Necessity of the fourth part of "Thus spoke Zarathustra"

Zusammenfassung Das Hauptziel dieser Arbeit ist, dass ich eine Antwort auf die Frage »Ist der vierte Teil von "Also sprach Zarathustra" wirklich nötig? « durch den Kontext desselben Werkes und Nietzsches Aussage in den anderen Werken und den Briefen gebe. Ich frage danach, was für einen Grund es gibt, wenn der vierte Teil, der meiner Hypothese nach eine Komödie ist, am Ende von "Also sprach Zarathustra" stehen soll. Diese Arbeit behandelt den Prozess, dass "Zarathustra" sich selbst mit Hilfe des Lachens in der Geschichte des vierten Teils, die einen komischen Charakter hat, überwindet. Daneben behandelt diese Arbeit die Beziehung zwischen dem Lachen und den zwei Göttern, Dionysos und Apollon, weil man dafür, dass das Lachen zur Erscheinung kommt, die Hilfe von ihnen braucht. The Concept of "Autonomy of Reason" in the Philosophy of the Enlightenment by Ernst Cassirer: A Review of a Classical Work in the Light of the New Literature.

In dieser Masterarbeit schlage ich vor, zunächst zu erforschen, worin diese Autonomie der Vernunft besteht, welche Cassirer als differentia specifica der Aufklärung gegenüber anderen Epochen postuliert und welche diese ganze Strömung artikuliert. Zweitens soll die Kritik am Werk Cassirers und ihr Wahrheitsgehalt genauer geprüft werden. Um dieses Projekt durchführbar zu machen, werde ich mich, unter anderen, insbesondere auf Jonathan Israels Darstellung der Aufklärung konzentrieren und seine Idee, der zufolge es zwei unversöhnliche Aufklärungen gegeben habe, eine Konzeption, welche Cassirer selbst gänzlich fremd war.
