Contemporary Jurisprudence for Muslim Minorities in Europe
Šisler, Vít ; Kropáček, Luboš (advisor) ; Veselý, Rudolf (referee)
1 Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the contemporary Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) providing normative frameworks for Muslim minorities living in Europe. The Muslim minorities in Europe vary significantly in their ethnic, social, and religious background; yet in many cases they bring to Europe coherent system of ethical and legal rules. Nevertheless, these normative systems differ according to the country of origin and religious background of the respective minorities. Therefore, in Europe that is a constant struggle between the various interpretations of Islam and different Muslim authorities. The situation of Muslims living in the non-Muslim legal system is not regulated by the classical Islamic law and therefore jurisprudence is becoming the primary mechanism for dealing with normative issues. This diploma thesis argues that the traditional and established Muslim authorities, such as imams in mosques and muftis trained in the countries of origin, are increasingly being challenged by global Muslim authorities and individual interpretation of Islam. The ideological background of these newly established authorities range from the liberal Islam to...

Computer Games as a New Media Phenomenon Jan Rylich 1 1 [ T H E S I S ] Jan Rylich Abstract: This thesis is focused on the development of computer games and video games, evolution of gaming and game technologies and their impact on our society. In addition to an important historical context and practical and theoretical analysis of game genres and potential of games, key chapters of this thesis are devoted to the importance of games and their impact on various aspects of our lives, from economic and demographic factors to influence on our culture and contemporary art. This thesis also aims to introduce computer games and video games in the context of "neglected media" and the theory of "remediation".
Influence of games mechanisms on user experience
Kracík, Radim ; Brejcha, Jan (advisor) ; Šisler, Vít (referee)
The work deals with the relationship between game mechanics and user experience. Identifies the basic gameplay mechanics and elements that have the most important influence on the quality of user experience. Research is realized on the example of a specific game using the concept of game design patterns. Part of the work deals with the introduction of this concept. Furthermore, the work deals with the general theories of games, models of classification and history of computer games. Part of the work is a description of the author's practical experience in creating games as a school project.
Accessing judicature with electronic sources
Korhoň, Ondřej ; Šisler, Vít (advisor) ; Dombrovská, Michaela (referee)
The purpose of the thesis is the accessibility of electronic sources of judicature in the Czech Republic. The thesis deals with publicly as well as commercially accessible sources. The publicly accessible sources are represented by NALUS which is administered by the Constitutional court, the retrieval system of The Supreme Court of the Czech Republic and the retrieval system of The Supreme Administrative Court. The commercially accessible sources are represented by the Beck online, ASPI and CODEXIS.All the sources taken into account are evaluated by the range of their content, the quality of search engine and user interface.
The relationship between a computer game and its audiovisual pattern
Šírová, Tereza ; Šlerka, Josef (advisor) ; Šisler, Vít (referee)
Diploma thesis The Relationship between the Computer Game and its Audiovisual Pattern deals with the similarities and differences between the computer games and audiovisual works. The thesis presents some theories reflecting different points of view to the influence and blending of these media forms. Those theories are the base for a suggestion of typology of games and movies adaptations that were made according to a pattern. In each of three suggested categories, there are mentioned some particular examples of computer games that were inspired by movie or series and also examples of movies that were inspired by computer game. The final chapter is a case study which compares the computer game Lost: Via Domus to its audiovisual pattern - series Lost.
Public licenses and public domain as alternatives to copyright
Köppel, Petr ; Šisler, Vít (advisor) ; Fáberová Slušná, Kateřina (referee)
The work first introduces the area of public licenses as a space between the copyright law and public domain. After that, consecutively for proprietary software, free and open source software, open hardware and open content, it maps particular types of public licenses and the accompanying social and cultural movements, puts them in mutual as well as historical context, examines their characteristics and compares them to each other, shows how the public licenses are defined by various accompanying movements, and also analyses which obstacles to the usage of public licenses are put by the Czech law. Keywords Copyright, licenses, open source, creative commons, public domain, software, design.
Use of Gamification to increase motivation of students in academic education
Češková, Anna ; Očko, Petr (advisor) ; Šisler, Vít (referee)
This paper deals with the issue of gamification and its implementation in the Charles University Information System, by focusing on students. It describes the principles of gamification in relation to user needs. Furthermore, it analyses the process of consciousness, motivation, volition and flow. This paper presents personality typologies in the context of motivation and game elements. It works with Myers-Briggs types and Keirsey's temperaments. It contains a ranking of gamification elements that is based on the level of motivation in relation to personalities. It evaluates the educational system in the Czech Republic from the point of view of the use of gamification elements and focus on different types of personalities. The main part of the thesis creates a concept of the implementation of gamification elements in the Charles University Information System and gamification of a thesis. [Author abstract].
The use of new media in formal education: A case study of design of the historical simulation
Lekovski, Michael ; Šisler, Vít (advisor) ; Šlerka, Josef (referee)
Thesis was developed as a model specification for a design of historical simulation applied in formal education. The text is divided into two main parts: The theoretical part summarizes findings about the role of new media in e-learning and its potential enrichment for gamification elements. Also mentions computer game as a research subject and points to the game mechanics that can be used in formal education to a successful application DGBL - Digital Game-Based Learning in this process. Practical part presents case study of a model specification that is based on the real project: 'Stories from the History of Czechoslovakia: Research and experimental development of software simulations to teach the history of the Czech lands in the 20th Century", solved by Faculty of Arts and Facility of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University and Institute of Contemporary History of Academy of Sciences of Czech Republic in Prague in 2011- 2014. In this section are addressed by specific examples of model applications of gamification elements with a view to achieving the educational goals of teaching simulation.

Analysis and concept of partial modification of simulation mechanics and graphical user interface of the educational simulation Europe 2045
Fixl, Matěj ; Šisler, Vít (advisor) ; Slussareff, Michaela (referee)
The presented work is concerned with systematic analysis of the user interface of computer simulation and serious game Europe 2045. The author then puts forward modifications of the current user interface, which aim to enhance the user experience, and allow for further utilization of the computer simulation. Europe 2045 is approached as an information system, and proposed modifications of its user interface are based on evaluation, which was provided by users of Europe 2045 during the years 2008 - 2012.
