Karasová, Nikola ; Charvát, Jan (advisor) ; Králová, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis is concentrating on the rise of the far-right in Greece during the global financial crisis. Based on primary and secondary sources, including the materials of the party, this thesis analyzes the ideological foundations and practical politics of Golden Dawn with the aim to classify it, to find the causes of its recent political success and to present it in the context of Greek and European far-right. ŠINDELÁŘ, Jan. Nový regionalismus a institucionální rámec regionální spolupráce Západního Balkánu. Praha, 2013. 101s. Rigorózní práce (PhDr.) Univerzita Karlova, Fakulta sociálních věd, Institut mezinárodních studií. Katedra ruských a východoevropských studií. Vedoucí diplomové práce PhDr. Kateřina Králová, Ph.D. Abstract The presented thesis is analyzing the regional cooperation in the Western Balkans (WB) focusing on interactions of the local actors. The author proves that the WB is engaged in the process of the new regionalism and in fact by focusing on the institutional structure he demonstrates that several parallel processes are ongoing in the region, as for example regional cooperation, integration or cooperation with another region. For the purpose of this research two projects of regional cooperation were chosen, South Eastern European Cooperation Process (SEECP) and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) which are regarded as the main pillars of the political cooperation in...
Causes and Ethnic Features of Conflict in Albania in 1997
Řezáčová, Veronika ; Králová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Pikal, Kamil (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the primary and secondary causes and possible features of the riots in Albania in 1997. As the primary cause of the conflict the crash of the pyramid schemes and the subsequent economic collapse are identified. The thesis aims to prove that the first step toward the conflict was made earlier. The lack of democratic transformation and dysfunctional state apparatus after the fall of communism has become a prerequisite for the outbreak of the conflict. From March 1992 to June 1997 the Democratic Party reigned under the leadership of Sali Berisha. Since the post-communist transformation took place mainly in the first half of the nineties, it is assumed that the Democratic Party with Sali Berisha was instrumental in the emergence of the conflict. The hypothesis is that President Berisha not only caused, but also deliberately deepened the conflict. Two Albanian ethnicities Ghegs and Tosks play an important role in determining the causes of the conflict. Their relations are not completely idyllic and during the historic events rivalry and tension have frequently resurfaced. In the time of communism problems between Ghegs and Tosks were pushed into the background and therefore the thesis assumes that during the post-communist transformation disputes between Ghegs and Tosks...

The bachelor thesis focuses on the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and deals with the issue of Croatian governments' cooperation with the Tribunal in the period between 1995 and 2005. The cooperation consisted in the arrests of Croats who had been indicted by the Prosecutor of the Tribunal. It analyzes in particular the case of the former Croatian general Ante Gotovina who became the most senior Croat prosecuted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. The first chapter outlines the historical development in Croatia between 1990 and 1995. Special attention is given to the armed conflict which was taking place in Croatia in the years 1991 to 1995. During the armed conflict, the crimes which would later be investigated by the Tribunal were committed. The next chapter analyzes the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia as an international judicial institution. It is followed by a chapter in which the approaches of three Croatian governments vis-a-vis the Tribunal are compared. The factors which shaped their decisions are analyzed here. The last chapter is a legal analysis of the judgment rendered in the case of Ante Gotovina who was acquitted by an Appeals Chamber of the Tribunal in 2012.

Koreček, Janis ; Králová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Šístek, František (referee)
The presented thesis deals with current immigration crisis in Greece, which has not been examined in the Czech Republic so far. The macro-level analysis elaborates process of immigration to Greece with emphasis on the period 1990-2012. Causation of the immigration is clarified through historical-demographical, sociopolitical and legislative point of view. Greece was hit by immigration wave due to the process of globalization framework and the crisis is not inflicted exclusively by the Hellenic state. This is demonstrated by the elaboration of the European legislative system and the EU policy towards immigration. Contrary to this, the Hellenic failure regarding management of immigration policy is made of insufficient complexity and flexibility of national legislation and its slow development especially in 1990s. The other specific issue is rise of racism among Hellenes. Roots of xenophobia are examined by the conception of Hellenic nationality and historical-demographical method natural history, through which statistical data are put in the chronological order. Decision- making process and administration is exposed in part dealing with Hellenic immigration law.
