Society over the Sázava
Slováček, Jakub ; Havlíček, Tomáš (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis is based on the specific intention of the town Žďár nad Sázavou for the reconstruction of an original kindergarten building into a multifunctional building of a community center. The construction program counts on five different programs: the Community Center, the Day Center for Children and Youth (low-threshold facility working especially with children from socially disadvantaged families), the Club V 9 (Mental Health Support Center), the Social Services Directorate, and finally, a nursery (child group, up to 3 years of age). The proposed operational solution of the project perceives the continuity of development while respecting not only the relations of the different types of functions but also the situation on the land, respectively in the surrounding area. The addition of new volumes strengthens the position of the central superimposed mass, from which individual cells containing individual functions are exerted into the adjacent garden. The relationship between the horizontal pavilions in the garden and the elevated central mass is emphasized by its further elevation and the placement of the most specific part of the social hall into this "crown" of the object. An integral part of the reconstruction is the involvement of the community center, as a public building, into the public space. The land is thus partially accessible to several public areas, but with respect to the specifics of the different groups of users, the essential part of the land is left as closed gardens of individual services.
The geographies of religion from a feminist perspective
Klingorová, Kamila ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Daněk, Petr (referee) ; Rochovská, Alena (referee)
This dissertation is based on the postsecularisation thesis which highlights the increasing role of religion nowadays. In the postmodern society, religion is understood not only as an objective truth, but also as the individual experience of a person. In relation to societal changes, a new paradigm has appeared - the new geographies of religion - which incorporates the individuality of a person into the discussion about religion in space. The study of religion as an individual experience could be significantly enhanced by feminist approaches which enable the inclusion of personal experiences. Therefore, the thesis contributes to the current direction of the geographies of religion connecting these with feminist approaches. The contribution of feminist approaches is assessed from the theoretical and empirical point of view. Feminist approaches develop themes of hierarchy, everydayness, emotionality, and embodiment, and thus contribute to the research on religion in a postsecular context. The empirical goal of the thesis is to consider the creation of sacred place and how religion frames the everyday experience of women. The thesis seeks to enrich Czech cultural geography with religious experience as another element forming space. The methodological framework uses the potential of a combination of...
Koclířov by Svitavy: pilgrimage place of (inter)national importance in a secularized state
Jančík, Jiří ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
In the masters dissertation Koclířov by Svitavy, a place of Marian pilgrimage, is presented as a lively seat of the Czech-Moravian Fatima, the national centre of Fatima Apostolate in the Czech Republic, a unique phenomenon within the universal Catholic Church. The centre of pilgrimage was established in 1995, hence it is relatively new. Pilgrims from all over Czechia as well as foreign pilgrims come here to enjoy its unique spiritual atmosphere. The centre offers a wide range of services including a traditional monastic cake shop and Shepherd shop offering devotional articles. Spiritual seminars held here once a month, every first Saturday, are particularly popular among the pilgrims. Serene monastery complex offers many sights and invites to quiescence. A Holy Gate opened by Mons. Jan Vokál, bishop of Hradec Králové diocese, in April 2016 in the frame of the Holy Year of Mercy is yet another unique feature of the place of pilgrim. Thus Koclířov has become one of the important church centres as this privilege is usually given only to cathedrals and minsters of particular dioceses. The Czech-Moravian Fatima in Koclířov will coordinate a wide range of festivities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of apparition the Virgin Mary in Fatima in Portugal in 2017. Number of Czech dioceses and their parishes...

Historical development of cross-border cooperation: example Euroregion Šumava
Jánová, Zuzana ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Dokoupil, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis deals with the historical development of cross-border cooperation in the Euroregion Šumava which is the Czech part of the Czech-German and the Czech-Austrian border defined as Euroregion Šumava/ Bayerischer Wald - Unterer Inn/ Mühlviertel. The main objective is to find out how joint cross- border cooperation has changed from the initial idea of joint cross-border cooperation through the establishment of the Euroregion Šumava to the present. Another objective is to identify regional differences in the development of cross-border cooperation from the perspective of three model areas that have different scale levels. The overall aim is to identify changes in the evolution of cross-border cooperation and an attempt to explain the causes of possible variabilities. The thesis is based on quantitative research in the form of cross-border analysis of completed projects and qualitative research based on structured interviews with selected respondents. A prerequisite of this thesis is both the shift from cross-border cooperation "bottom up" to "top down" and the subsequent interconnection of both forms. It is further assumed considerable regional differentiation. Both assumptions were confirmed through mutual reporting periods as well as comparison of model municipalities.
