Bohumír Prokůpek
Šimánek, Jan ; Musilová, Helena (advisor) ; Silverio, Robert (referee)
Whilst Bohumir Prokupek's body of work is still awaiting its thorough assesment, an aim to examine and give idea of his life journeys is a subjectmatter of this work. Ideally the work is, in its form, supposed to contain both experimental research and a search for lost time, connecting facts, bare and earthy language and something of Proust's art: to make remebering of someone we loved a gentle stream, to ensure that reader connects memories in pictures and scents of his own imagination. Hence this work is not divided into chapters. Time line of separate stories is rather respected here, in details a literary filter is given precedence. Events are therefore presented as they came with their testimonies, at times repeated intentionally. Personal point of view of the photographic work offers some personal detachment in the Conclusion, substatiation of this approach is then stated in the Introduction.
Space and architecture photographers
Uhlíková, Jarmila ; Grygar, Štěpán (advisor) ; Silverio, Robert (referee)
The theses discuss the issue of photographing a specific place which is closely related to the spaces of all kinds and to architecture. It is limited to the so called ?no name architecture? that does not have a known author ? mainly common houses and utility buildings but also specific places in the countryside or in a city such as gardens or parking lots. The emphasis is on the connection between the space and its photographic representation. It is demonstrated in the work of particular authors. It explores the questions of making a photographic picture of a space, author´s choice and their influence on the result as well as the impression the particular photographs leave in their viewers. The main idea of this paper is to offer an overview of basic approaches to photographing places that have been used since the 60s of 20th century till present.

Masochism in Orlan's art from psychoanalytic view
Páleníková, Linda ; Musilová, Helena (advisor) ; Silverio, Robert (referee)
This thesis examines the controversial work of French artist Orlan with regard to social and historical context. Her creative output is heavily influenced by French feminist theories, philosophy, and psychoanalysis. Orlan is best known for her performances, during which she underwent facial plastic surgery according to historical patterns of beauty. This artistic act has a self-destructive character, which can be noted in case of many body art artists. In my paper, I briefly present the evolution of Orlan's work, focusing on the gradual formation and defining of her artistic expression, which in the end led to a series of plastic surgeries called Reincarnation St. Orlan. I use these performances as an illustration to explain masochism in women's art. The paper's goal is to throw light at the working principles of the destructive instinct, according to psychoanalysis. Furthermore, the paper looks at pain not merely as a form of artistic expression, but tries to consider its profound nature and motives that are associated with it.

Čejková, Michaela ; Musilová, Helena (advisor) ; Šimlová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Silverio, Robert (referee)
The aim of my bachelor thesis is to approximate a supreme tendency of death imaging in arts during Middle ages, so called "death iconography?. I want to show its partical application on work of contemporary photographers focusing on Death, to reveal the closeness of either ideological bases or expressing principles, creating universal communication language of atheistic society.
Visual Communication
Stecker, Marcel ; Císař, Karel (advisor) ; Silverio, Robert (referee)
My bachelor thesis is seeking relevant relationship between a photography and a painting. I am analyzing first part of Rosalind Krauss?s text Notes on the Index and I?m trying to apply her scheme of clash of two differently coded communications on other examples from history of art. I?m describing different levels of art piece The New Painting, which is the continuous link in my thinking. In this series is Elina Brotherus touching the relationship based on visual analogy, which I consider lame and at the same another relationship, which I consider relevant. In terms of this relationship I put digitally manipulated photography in the correct context and I am explaining, why it did not fundamentally change or flatten relationship between painting and photography. In the second part of the thesis I deal with the importance of author?s style in fine art and photography. I am comparing Matthias Grünewald?s Isenheim Altarpiece with a contemporary piece The Stations of the Cross made by Damien Hirst and David Bailey.

Abram, Uroš ; Silverio, Robert (advisor) ; Šimlová, Štěpánka (referee)
Digitalization has touched every single thing in our environment. We have to think very hard to find something which is not connected to digital technology. Digital photography has been changing photo processes, products, the photo industry and social-connection skills. The development of this sort of photography has had strong effects on other technologies. In its new forms it has been saving lives and causing violence. For some people the fight between film, analogue photography and digital technologies is still very much alive. In digitally manipulated images it is hard to find traces of the original photographs. People are getting a voice. The Internet is supposed to be the most democratic medium. A new form of art is rising. History of digital photography, new ways of seeing, presentation of new forms, classical thesis which cannot be applied on digital media
