n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in prevention of cardiovascular diseases
Pavelka, Jan ; Kraml, Pavel (advisor) ; Černá, Milena (referee)
Clinical trials have documented beneficial effect of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids on health. Regular dietary intake of n-3 PUFAs decreases the risk of cardiovascular dieseas. n-3 PUFAs may be a safe and effective supplement to drug treatment for reducing the risk of myocardial infarction, arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death. n-3 PUFAs show antiatherogenic properties; e.g. they decrease inflammation, stabilize atherosclerotic plaques and prevent other chronic deseases. For primary prevention it is recommended to eat fish at least twice a week, people with documented coronary heart disease should consume 1 gram of n-3 PUFAs daily. Fish oil and oily fish (losos, tuna, trout, mackerel) are rich in EPA and DHA. ALA is found e.g. in flax seed oil.

Perioperative prognostic factors in breast cancer
Černá, Monika ; Třeška, Vladislav (advisor) ; Gaťek, Jiří (referee) ; Šiller, Jiří (referee) ; Jandík, Pavel (referee)
Introduction: Breast cancer still remains the most common malignancy in women and its incidence is slowly increasing. A marked reduction of mortality has been achieved in the last 10 years thanks to modern diagnostic methods, mammary screening, and comprehensive and targeted cancer therapy. Modern diagnostic capabilities not only allow early diagnosis of a primary tumor lesion and precise determination of its biological nature before commencing treatment, but they also enable early diagnosis of local and regional recidives, including diagnosis of metastases in distant organs. In addition to clinical examination, conventional and complementary imaging examinations and tumor markers our objective was to determine the importance and use of growth factors in relation to the overall prognosis. The growth factors physiologically act already during the ontogenetic period when they control cell growth, proliferation, differentiation and apoptotic processes. It is known that they take part in the tumor growth processes which are characterized by autonomous behavior, increased proliferative activity, distinct differentiation activity and reduced apoptosis. Growth factors work as autoregulation factors in the neoplastic process as well as through their paracrine effects mediated by more or less specific receptors....
Patients and obstetricians attitudes associated with cesarean delivery on maternal request
Baxová, Anna ; Křepelka, Petr (advisor) ; Černá, Milena (referee)
Cesarean delivery on maternal request is one of the most discussed questions among obstetricians all around the world. It is a situation when mother wishes to have cesarean delivery although no indications for this surgery are presented. Molecular aspects of calcium-phosphate metabolism in renal complications of diabetes mellitus.
Šimáková, Eva ; Černá, Marie (advisor) ; Zajíčková, Kateřina (referee)
Introduction: This thesis deals with the calcium-phosphate metabolism and its role in the development of chronic diabetic complications. It examines calcium sensitive receptor, which can be crucial in affecting calcium metabolism. Calcium-sensitive receptor may play a role in intracellular signaling and metabolic pathways that lead to cell proliferation and extracellular matrix early diabetic nephropathy. We investigated two polymorphisms of the gene for calcium-sensitive receptor (intron 4 and codon 990). Material and Methods: The study included 313 diabetic patients, 41 patients with type 1 diabetes, 106 patients with type 2 diabetes, 110 diabetic patients with type 2 diabetes who had diabetic nephropathy and 56 patients with renal failure non-diabetic (NDRD). It was also examined 72 non-diabetic patients with chronic renal failure (CKD) and 96 healthy blood donors (ZK). Classification of diagnoses is listed in the theory. DNA was isolated by QIAamp DNA Blood Mini Kit and salting method. The specific fragments of gene for the CaSR were amplified by PCR. For detection, restriction fragment length polymorphism and TaqMan probes were used. The expression levels of mRNA were determined by real-time PCR. Results: For the codon 990 polymorphism, we found statistical significance of the genotype frequencies (AA,...
Golden section around us
Černá, Michala ; Zhouf, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Dvořák, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the golden section. This a guided background research already represents a cross-section of the currently available literature. The term golden section is first defined. Subsequently, the states in which forms can appear golden section (eg Fibonacci sequence, golden rectangle and other geometric shapes that are closely related to the golden section). The very essence of the work is to inform the reader with the disciplines in which we can meet the golden section. The two largest sectors are nature and art, which are further subdivided into other sectors. Degree of difficulty of the document is adapted to a wide scope of potential readers. The aim is to create a comprehensive set of disciplines related to the golden section. Contribution of the thesis is critical and factual insight into the problems of the golden section, which is interested in literature rarely about. Key words: Golden section, number Fibonacci sequence
