Application of Augmented Reality: Measurement of Object Dimensions
Karásek, Miroslav ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
The goal of this diploma thesis is design and implementation of an application for automated measurement of objects in augmented reality. It focuses on automating the entire process, so that the user carries out the fewest number of manual actions. The proposed interface divides the measurement into several steps in which it gives the user instructions to progress to the next stage. The result is an Android application with ARCore technology. Is capable of determining the minimal bounding box of an object of a general shape lying on a horizontal surface. Measure error depends on ambient conditions and is in units of percent.
Data Backup and Data Storages
Janíček, Libor ; Karásek, Miroslav (referee) ; Kříž, Jiří (advisor)
The master´s thesis focuses on problematics associated with data backup and storages. It deals with the realistic data backup issue at a real municipal office. Part of the work is a thorough analysis of the current state and suggestions for improvement.

Searching for Similar 3D Models
Karásek, Miroslav ; Najman, Pavel (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
The work deals with the design and implementation of similarity based search in database of 3D models. The database is realised using of quick Python data structures. For Spherical harmonics and 3D Zernike deskriptors extraction are used third-party libraries. REST application interface is designed to access the search engine. A web based application was designed as an example of the REST application interface usage. Furthermore, the work deals with the search quality, presents results of the implemented database and suggests possible improvements.
Measurement of amplitude and phase of ultrashort optical pulses by using nonlinear processes in optical fibres
Vraný, Boleslav ; Kaňka, Jiří (advisor) ; Karásek, Miroslav (referee) ; Boháč, Leoš (referee)
I confirm that I worked out this doctoral thesis independently and that I quoted all the literature used. Prohlašuji, že jsem tuto dizertační práci vypracoval samostatně a že jsem uvedl veš- kerou použitou literaturu. V Praze dne 21. 6. 2010 Abstract The thesis deals with the Frequency-Resolved Optical Gating (FROG) method of mea- suring ultrashort optical pulses. As a nonlinear process involved in the method we used cross-phase modulation in a microstructured optical fiber. The FROG device made of fi- ber pigtailed components fitted well the needs of our fiber optical laboratory. The output of the measurement differs significantly from FROG methods that use other nonlinear processes like second harmonic generation. For our FROG, the standard algorithms for reconstruction of the complex envelope from measured spectrogram failed. We therefore used a more robust genetic algorithm (GA) for the reconstruction. GA has several pa- rameters that affect its runs and we explored the influence of these parameters on the success of reconstruction of a number of test pulses and found the optimal set of these parameters. In this work, we present a general discussion of the FROG method and the standard reconstruction algorithms, the experimental setup we used, a discussion of the genetic algorithm, the technical details of our...
Face detection system
Karásek, Miroslav ; Horák, Karel (referee) ; Petyovský, Petr (advisor)
This work deals with methods of computer vision for localization faces in an image segmentation of individual parts of face and its comparison with the face in the reference frame. The paper gives a brief overview of biometric methods useful to identify people. It describes the various methods of locating faces in images and their features. It also deals with the editing of digital images, with the design of my own methods of localization and verification of faces and the subsequent implementation of these methods.
Stereo image processing and visualisation
Karásek, Miroslav ; Richter, Miloslav (referee) ; Petyovský, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with the processing of stereo images. It described the principles of calibration and rectification of stereo images. The thesis described several methods for finding important points. SURF method is then implemented for practical solution. Finding correspondences is realized using the methods of image processing library OpenCV. Reconstructed spatial coordinates of points and write by the format specified VRML97. Finally, there is introduced evaluated accuracy of spatial data acquisition and comparison of computational cost generated programs.
Parametrické zesilování a vícenásobná generace vlnových délek ve vysoce nelineárním optickém vláknu: Experiment a modelování
Karásek, Miroslav ; Kaňka, Jiří ; Radil, J. ; Vojtěch, J.
We demonstrate parametric amplification of WDM signals and multiple wavelength conversion with gain based on four-photon parametric mixing in a highly nonlinear fibre (HNLF). Two pumps with a 100 GHz separation located in the region of anomalous dispersion of the HNLF are combined to form a beet signal. A high-power EDFA boosts the beet signal which is then combined with a signal wave by a directional coupler into the HNLF.
Optimization of NRZ data transmission at 10Gbit/s over G.652 fibre without in-line amplification
Karásek, Miroslav ; Radil, J. ; Boháč, L.
The best scheme of chromatic dispersion compensation, input powers to standard and dispersion compensating fibre have been analysed numerical with the aim to find limits of NRZ data transmission over G.652 fibre. Theoretical results have partly been verified experimentally.
