Remediation
Bílková, Kateřina ; BLAŽÍČEK, Martin (advisor) ; POSPISZYL, Tomáš (referee)
In my bachelor`s thesis is interpretation of term remediation in terms of the artist. The text includes a confrontation with texts of theorists Jay David Bolter and Richard Grusin. I defend the notion that remediation is a creative process. Start from the belief that the artist does not seek the newest medium, but the medium most appropriate to theme of an artpiece. At the beginning I define term medium and characterize remediation as transformation of aura. And I explain the term aura as a subjective relation betwen artist or spectator and media. So I do not concentrate at technical parameters, but at the impression that changes the medium of created artwork. Text includes selected examples of using method of remediation.

Subject-Author-Self-Portrait
Machajová, Dana ; Pospiszyl, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bendová, Helena (referee)
The focus of my bachelor´s thesis is aimed at the connection of the functions of self-representation in arts during different periods in the history to philosophical concepts of the subject and concepts of the author. The anonymous creator of art (which was always socially legitimated) was replaced by the author brought to light with the birth of the modern subject. The ?mirror picture? of oneself in the other´s eyes is for the subject the essential constituting moment. Modern subject is above all ruling entity with all powers to control its representation and material world around. What happens to the subject when the logical modernist structures start to fall apart? Postmodern subject loses its contours and it becomes matter or the construct of a certain context. How is this connected to the invention of photography and the rise of masmedia and its machinery? And what will happen with the subject today, when everyone can have one´s own communication channel on the internet?
Movements of reading
Švarcová, Barbora ; Blažíček, Martin (advisor) ; Pospiszyl, Tomáš (referee)
In my bachelor's thesis, on the basis of several case studies I examine the relationship between text and moving images in an artistic context. I am interested in the volatility of the reception of these two mediums and their mutual influence. At the same time I attempt to ascertain the motivation of contemporary artists using the principle of "text within text". Because this pertains to works created in roughly the last ten years, I frame them within the current social discourse. This entails venturing even into non-artistic spheres, were the principle of the doubling of media is also prolific. These forays then serve as points of reference in the analysis of individual works. I am interested not only in the question of the unconventional circumstances of the reading, but by the same measure also the ideological platform of this principle.
Light Into The Flesh / Flesh Into The Light
Babuščák, Ladislav ; Pospiszyl, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bregant, Michal (referee) ; Šimlová, Štěpánka (referee)
LIGHT INTO THE FLESH / FLESH INTO THE LIGHT explores symbols of evil, sin and redemption in the tv series and the movie Twin Peaks. It is not a critical assessment of David Lynch's body of work. Characters and their actions as well as plots are used as symbols which are then explained based on Genesis, the first book of the Old Testimony. Martin Buber's philosophical insight is also used to shed light on the subject. It is not the aim of this analysis to introduce David Lynch's work from a critical standpoint or from a standpoint of film theory. The aim is to introduce director's key theme, which is one's fight for his soul (essence) whilst facing fear, hesitation, failure but also love, faith and hope.

Kořenková, Silvie ; Kinterová, Markéta (advisor) ; Pospiszyl, Tomáš (referee)
My bachelor thesis represents topic ?Mutual influence of street art and photography?. Definition of a street art and its history, focusing mainly on contemporary European street art scene are significant themes in my thesis. I am introducing street art as a form of expression in the terms of contemporary art. An important idea is a position of photography in this art movement. I have divided photography into three parts according to its technical and visual image in the street art in respect to the presented authors. I have focused on creation and contribution of particular artists in such art movement. My aim was to find out if I, as a photographer, could succeed on this field of art creation with a pure photography and which installation should have been used so it couldn't have been overlooked in an urban environment. Is photography enough strong and applicable medium by which could be expressed any message in the urban interior?
