Efektivní stavby a jejich celky
Štěpánek, Martin
In response to the needs of contemporary society (and the needs of the near future) we can find new typological elements in the landscape of our cities that change our perception of the cities by its scale and spacial effects. It is not a new phenomenon. Thearrangement and structure of settlements and landscape reflect the lifestyle of the society occupying the particular place at the actual time. Each compositional elements of the settlements and landscape that makes their structures are so variable depending on the needs of society in the place and time in which they are viewed. The specialisation of production and services, their concentration for maximum efficiency, has brought demands for new buildings and building complexes. These buildings and their complexes have new spatial requirements, due to their efficiency, which change the structure of the city while they are only of marginal interest to scientific research, but their scope go beyond not only cities and districts as well as countries and continents.

Štěpánek, Martin ; Špička, Jindřich (advisor) ; Krause, Josef (referee)
The bachelor thesis consists of two parts: theoretical-methodological and practical. The first section describes terms which are commonly used in entrepreneurship theory; however, the main meaning of this section is to explain the fundamental parts of business plan and how to correctly create it, especially methods which are used in strategic analysis. In the practical section, these theoretical information are applied in real life situations. The object of this thesis is to create a business plan for Sushi Samurai to verify if it is economically feasible to extend the current delivery service company by its own restaurant. The comparison proved that opening the new restaurant is a good move and if the estimation of realistic demand is correct, the investment would be returned in approximately 5 months.
Rizikovost finančních trhů a její dopad na důchodový systém
Štěpánek, Martin ; Witzany, Jiří (advisor) ; Stádník, Bohumil (referee)
Financial unsustainability of pension systems in developed economies looms large on the horizon due to increasing life expectancy and continuous drop in fertility. In spite of a broad discussion, there has been but a little consensus on appropriate remedy. One aspect partially neglected in the literature is vulnerability of pension systems to market imperfections and economic shocks. I present three basic types of pension schemes adopted across all developed countries - pure PAYG, fully-funded, and mixed (multipillar) scheme - and examine effects of various risks -- particularly market risk, interest rate risk, investment risk, and longevity risk -- on their functioning. The analysis shows that while no pension scheme is immune to external influences, the multipillar scheme provides the best results thanks to appropriate risk diversification.

Vliv institucí na neefektivitu trhu: případ generických léčiv
Štěpánek, Martin ; Smrčka, Luboš (advisor) ; Strouhal, Jiří (referee)
There is a strong evidence suggesting that the law of one price is violated in the retail markets for generic medicaments although the products are essentially homogeneous; the original brand medicaments seem to be sold at a significant price premium over their generic equivalents and also the generics are not sold at the same price. I utilize the standard models of oligopoly and augment them by additional specifications to account for market imperfections and specifications of pharmaceutical industry to explain the dispersed price equilibrium as a natural result of imperfect competition on the market. I argue that under the assumptions of information asymmetry, uncertainty, heterogeneity of patients, and inability to promote products, firms are able to price their medicaments above others. Further, I support my theoretical results with empirical data of medicines sold in the Czech Republic. The observations closely match my conclusions and findings in the prior literature.
