Linguistic Text Compression

The compression of texts written in natural language can exploit information about its linguistic character. It is shown that separation of coding of part-of-speech tags of a sentence (type of sentence) from the text alone can improve resulting compression ratio. For this purpose the tagging method NNTagger based on neural networks is designed. This thesis is focused on speci fication of the compression model of texts written in Czech. We propose methods of constructing of initial dictionaries and test their influence on the compression ratio.

The presented work discourse about a creation of market research web portal. It follows the analysis of pivotal topics as well as the consequent portal design, after which it describes implementation details and attests resulting OnlinePanel portal performance. OnlinePanel is meant to offer effective and economical executing of market researches over the Internet. Onlinepanel offers flexible motivation system to respondents and respondent credibility control, arbitrary quota definition and unlimited respondent selection for research to administrator.

C++ library for symbolic manipulation

The aim of the bachelor thesis is the design and implementation of a library for symbolic manipulation with mathematical expressions, and the other intention of the work is the description and substantiation of used techniques and methods. The developed library should be easily expandable and modifiable. On the other hand, the library should be usable for long and complex computation. Demonstration of solutions for both of the mentioned requirements, that often require opposite approaches, is also part of the submitted work. The last, but not least, there is the topic that is concentrated on some hints and examples of using the library.

Graphical user interface for an RDF visualizer

In the present work we examine one implementation of a graphical user interface for a display and navigation in the RDF data. In addition, this single application is being briefly compared to several others, already existent alternative programs with the same purpose, followed by a short discussion of the application's overall pros and cons. The major focus of the thesis stays on the details of this particular implementation, evaluation of used algorithms and chosen components from C# and XAML technologies. Furthermore, we present suggestions for additional improvements and extensions that could be of use and therefore should be incorporated in the final product, should the application ever enter wholesale distribution.

Jaká rozhodnutí čekají české europoslance v letech 2014–2019?

Na základě jednoduchého metodologického rám- ce tato studie přichází s katalogem klíčových témat, o kterých se bude rozhodovat v Evropské unii v násle- dujících letech. Jsou to otázky, o nichž budou přímo či nepřímo spolurozhodovat poslanci, které si zvolíme ve volbách do Evropského parlamentu (EP) v květnu 2014. Podstatným prvkem je posílení role EP dle platné Lisa- bonské smlouvy ve volbě předsedy Komise, která bude následovat po ustavení nového parlamentu v červenci 2014. Volby do EP tak přeneseně mimo jiné rozhodnou o předsedovi Komise, jejích členech a dalších předních představitelích Unie. Další balík důležitých témat tvoří neutěšený stav evropských ekonomik. Boj s nezaměstnaností nejen mlá- deže, vleklá krize eurozóny, neschopnost některých států dostát svým finančním závazkům a vynucená úsporná opatření tvoří prostor pro soupeření různých politických konceptů a návrhů řešení. Toto soupeření se odehrává jak na tradičním pravolevém politickém spektru, tak i na specifické štěpící linii mezi posilováním společných řešení nebo naopak preferováním národní úrovně. Stra- nou by nezůstane ani budoucí vývoj Společné zahraniční a bezpečnostní politiky, která by měla posílit vliv EU na globální úrovni, tak aby odpovídal její ekonomické síle. Podobně i spolupráce v oblasti energetiky a ochrany ži- votního prostředí v sobě obsahuje mnoho kontroverz- ních témat s výraznými ekonomickými dopady. Volby do EP mohou rozhodnout o budoucím směru EU a bylo by chybou v kampani zůstat pouze u domácích témat.

Experimenty s českými lingvistickými daty a ILP

In this paper we present basic experiments that we have made in connection with our research in the domain of the Semantic Web. These experiments should demonstrate possibilities of employing ILP technique in the task of acquisition of semantic information from text of Czech Web pages. These experiments are preceded by complex linguistic analysis of the texts and the output of linguistic tools is processed in the ILP procedure.

Nominal monetary convergence

Dizertační práce identifikuje a klasifikuje možná rizika měnové konvergence v procesu přistoupení k eurozóně u nových členských zemí Evropské unie, tj. včetně České republiky. Propojením výsledků komplexního rozboru institucionálního rámce Hospodářské a měnové unie a analýzy vývoje inflace a měnového kurzu u stávajících členů eurozóny v konvergenčním období identifikuje možné alternativy měnového přiblížení k euru. Závěry přispívají do diskuse o dilematech hospodářské politiky, které čekají nové členské země EU v dalších fázích integrace do evropských měnových struktur.
