The bachelor thesis Cultural section in the newspaper Prager Abendblatt in 1938 is based on the issues of German written press in Prague before the Second World War. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first one elaborates on the development of Czech- German relations since the beginning of the coexistence of Czechs and Germans in the same area. The emphasis is put on the year 1848 when Prager Abendblatt started to be published (at first as a supplement of Prager Zeitung, since 1867 it was published separately). Individual part of the first chapter is devoted to the events of the year 1938. The second chapter deals with Prager Abendblatt itself, its history and the characteristics of the media environment it entered. The second chapter provides the readers with the names of the editors-in-chief since 1918 and the most important authors who contributed with their articles to the cultural section during the 1930s. The chapter focuses also on the thematic content of the newspaper and the individual sections. The content before and after the Munich Agreement is compared. The third chapter analyses the cultural section and its aim is to find out which part of the cultural life (theater, music, film, literature and fine arts) occurs most often on the pages of Prager Abendblatt. It focuses also...

Marešová, Petra ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Ježková, Tereza (referee)
My bachalor thesis offers analysis of medial coverage of the indignation caused by publicizing and staging of Thomas Bernhard's play Heldenplatz. Through qualitative content analysis, I compare newspaper articles published before and, also, after the opening night of this play in particular newspapers of temporary Austrian press. With the help of articles published in the Profil, Salzburger Nachrichten and Neue Kronen Zeitung, I present how mass media are able to stir deprecating reactions and how they develop technique of scandalization, how they use stereotypes to influence public opinion, or, how they reflect upon each other. I also take a deep look into several concepts, which gradually became a part of discourse in mass media and society. In the first place, it is a piece of rhetoric "Freiheit der Kunst", meaning "art freedom / freedom in art", next, calling the author "Nestbeschmutzer", at the time a popular label, and calling the director with the humiliating expression of "Piefke" and "Schuft". A number of newspaper articles which were published after staging Heldenplatz was far smaller than a number of articles published prior the opening night. Scandalousness of both Bernhard's drama and its later first performing was still deepened by the Neue Kronen Zeitung tabloid. However, the Profil...

The first three chapters describe the legislative process of drafting law for the ČTK (The Acts No. 123/1965 Coll., 310/1991 Coll., 517/1992 Coll.). The next two chapters deals with application of those legal norms and putting them into practice: illustrated by election procedure of the very first ČTK Council (1993), and by Czech government's attempt to reinstate the obligation to publish full-text of its statements, and to redefine the mission of the agency (1995). The last chapter summarize attitudes concerning change of the ČTK Statute and the possible privatization of the agency. The chapter relates to the term of the second ČTK council (1998), however above mentioned issues were discussed from the beginning of the 90ties already, because the lawmakers in the 1992 presupposed that the public service media statute of the ČTK, unlike the Czech Television and Czech Radio, should be the interim one. Because of...
