Start-up phase of a denitrifying sulphur reactor
Marková, Jana ; Hrich, Karel (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the start-up phase of the denitrification sulfur reactor, which is used to remove nitrogenous substances from water. The main content of this work was the investigation of the influence of various parameters on the progress of the start-up phase with the aim of their optimization. For this research, three column reactors with different operating parameters were developed at the Institute of Chemistry, Brno University of Technology. The reactors were operated throughout the start-up phase, and samples were taken regularly during the run-up phase for subsequent analysis. It was evident from the measurement results that the appropriate setting of the input parameters of the column test, which was the HRT 15 h and a filling ratio of S:CaCO3 1:2, a high removal efficiency of nitrates from the model water exceeding 93% was achieved in just 15 days. Furthermore, it was found that the HRT of 10 h is not sufficient for the course of autotrophic denitrification and caused a prolongation of the start-up phase, which is economically less favorable.
Problematics of musculosceletal dysfunction and chains
Hofman, David ; Malá, Jitka (advisor) ; Kučerová, Ilona (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. It discusses the possible causing factors of these disorders, their manifestations on the body, diagnostics and the possibilities of influencing them. Since this is a very common phenomenon on the human body, I chose mainly the muscle, fascia and joint structure, which I explored and described in more depth. The experimental part of this work aims to demonstrate the possible impact of the intervention of the 1.-3. ribs and claviculosternal joint as described by Ludmila Mojžíšová on the muscles of the neck (m. scalenus anterior, medius and sternocleidomastoideus). To obtain results, I used the ultrasound examination of the diameter of these muscles and Visual analogue scale (VAS) to obtain pain values before and after the intervention using this method. Title: Problematics of musculoskeletal dysfunction and chains Objectives: The first goal of this paper is to collect currently recognized sources about musculoscletal functional disorders. I have described origins of this kind of problems, manifestation of these disorders and kinds of therapy. I've focused on functional disorders of muscle, fascia and joint. Second goal of this thesis is to evaluate a top-rated Prague rehabilitation school's method. Part of Prague...
Respiration and posture influence on the activity of upper and lower esophageal sphincters
Bitnar, Petr ; Kobesová, Alena (advisor) ; Dolina, Jiří (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (referee)
Respiration and posture influence on the activity of upper and lower esophageal sphincters Abstract This work explores the effect of postural respiratory function on pressures in the upper esophageal sphincter (UES) and the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). UES and LES pressures were measured using a high-resolution manometry (HRM). Leg raise in a supine position results in significant pressure increase in the UES and LES. Traction of the cervical spine and chest stabilization maneuver significantly reduces pressure in the UES and significantly increases pressure in the LES. Abdominal wall activity, i.e. intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) affecting UES and LES function, was measured using Ohm Belt sensors. IAP is related to body position, i.e. posture. Using verbal and manual guides, the subject can be instructed to increase abdominal wall activity and thus regulate (increase) IAP. Of the five monitored positions (sitting, lying on the back with leg raise, "bear", squat and hang), the greatest increase in IAP occurred in the bear position, i.e. in the position on all fours with a support on both hands and feet. IAP activation, which is significantly dependent on diaphragm activation, can potentially affect LES pressure and UES pressures. Based on the systematic review, it can be concluded that breathing...

Bohatý, Pavel ; Malá, Jitka (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Author: Bc. Pavel Bohatý Title: Comparison of the effects of manual techniques and radial shock waves in the area of the myofascial trigger point. Objectives: The main focus of this thesis is to compare the effect of treatment using radial shock wave and selected manual techniques. Methods: In this diploma thesis, the Wagner FDIX Force digital pressure algometer was first used to evaluate the effectiveness of both experimental methods to examine the pressure pain threshold, then a Visual Analogue Scale for pain and a two-arm goniometer to examine range of motion to the lateroflexion of cervical spine to opposite side from the occurring MTrp. The outcome data was stored in Microsoft Excel 365. Basic descriptive statistic was used for data analysis using mean values, medians, standard deviations, etc. Due to the heterogeneity of input values in both groups, a regression model and nonparametric Mann-Whitney U-test was used. The significance level for statistical tests was set at α = 0.05. Results: A total of 31 probands were involved in the research, of which 16 underwent radial shock wave therapy and 15 using manual techniques. A statistically significant improvement was measured in the group undergoing radial shock wave therapy in the examination of the pressure pain threshold at the 1st session (by...

Pospíchalová, Tereza ; Pánek, David (advisor) ; Malá, Jitka (referee)
Title: Electromyographic study of selected neck muscles in patients with torticollis Objectives: The aim of the study was to determine the electrical muscle activity and the symmetry of the electrical muscle activity of selected neck muscles in patients with torticollis during flexion in three different positions - standing, sitting, lying on the back. Methods: The study involved 8 probands aged 27 - 60 years. The Noraxon TeleMyo 2400T G2 surface electromyography device for telemetry data transmission technology with a sampling frequency of 1500 Hz was used for the measurement. The surface electrodes were applied to five target muscles bilaterally, namely the sternocleidomastoid muscle, scaleni muscles, suprahyoid muscles, infrahyoid muscles and trapezius muscle upper part. Subsequently, the probands performed cervical spine flexion fifteen times in a randomized order of positions in synchronism at the same speed by setting the metronome to 60 bpm. The electrical muscle activity of the examined muscles was used in average %MVC values in comparison right/left, as well as changes in average %MVC values depending on positions and symmetry of electrical muscle activity during neck flexion using Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The values of the average %MVC of the contralateral SCM against...
