School maturity and preparedness of a child for the 1 st grade from the point of view of speech

The thesis focuses on the issue of school maturity and school readiness from the point of view of speech therapy such as its diagnosis and individual abilities that are needed for entering first classes of a primary school. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics of the preschool stage, school maturity and school readiness, registering for first class, the postponement of the school attendance, and communication disabilities of preschoolers. The aim of the empirical part of the thesis is to find out the standard of the school maturity and school readiness of children in an ordinary group as well as in a group with speech therapy of the same nursery. Tests are going to be used to find out the school maturity and school readiness such as Preliminary Test of School Maturity - verbal thinking, Test of Auditory Distinction - WM, Kwint Psychomotor Examination, and Examination of Language Skills for Preschoolers. Furthermore, the obtained data will be analysed and compared. The data collection will take place in Nursery School Zelenka in Turnov. Alternative and augmentative communication for adults with combined disabilities

The master thesis deals with alternative and augmentative communication for adults with combined disabilities. It defines the theoretical foundations of disability, more specifically combined disability. It also describes the communication of people with combined disabilities and explains concepts such as communication, impaired communication skills or speech therapy intervention for people with combined disabilities. Its disadvantages relate more to alternative and augmentative communication, in which it describes in more detail the methods and systems, diagnostic aspects, training of use or its advantages and benefits. The main purpose of this work is to describe the use of alternative and augmentative communication in the everyday life of adults with combined disabilities, especially in everyday activities and also in the possibility of expressing their needs and feelings. The research survey took place in two phases, in the first phase case studies of adults with combined disabilities were prepared and in the second phase participatory observation and direct work with individual persons was carried out. At the end of the work, the benefits of alternative and augmentative communication in adults with combined disabilities are characterized.
Comparison of opportunities of university studies of sign language in the Czech Republic, Australia and New Zealand

The bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of the opportunities of university studies of sign language in the Czech Republic, Australia and New Zealand. The initial information is compared at the theoretical level. The empirical part is not included. The thesis compares studies at all universities that provide study fields focused on Czech, Australian and New Zealand sign language. These are pedagogical, linguistic, interpreting and translation fields. The aim is to provide information on the content, distribution and process of education at individual universities, based on the description of fields of study and courses that schools publish on their websites and in study information systems. The described fields are selected according to predetermined criteria. The comparison also includes support services for students and their availability at the described universities. In the introductory chapters, the thesis deals with the history and specifics of sign languages and the development of the education of the deaf. Furthermore, the work focuses on the legislative anchoring of sign languages. Development of the child's communication skills from the parents' point of view

The diploma thesis in speech therapy deals with the issue of children's speech development from the parents' point of view. The first chapter is devoted to the theoretical definition of communication itself and explains the difference between language and speech. At the end of the introductory chapter, the communication process is described and verbal and nonverbal communication is also defined. The second chapter of the theoretical part is focused on the development of speech, which is divided into the preparatory period and stages of one's own speech development. The chapter also includes the development of speech from the perspective of language levels, including the factors that affect it. The conclusion of the theoretical part is devoted to speech development disorders. Within the empirically oriented part of the diploma thesis, the main goal was set, the intention of which was to find out whether parents are interested in the development of speech in their offspring and what importance they attach to this issue. Expressive vocabulary of selected parts of speech in children of preschool age

Abstact This thesis relates to logopedic theme. It is focused on the issue of expressive vocabulary in preschool age. The main goal is an analysis of this area in children with specific language impairment and in intact children. In the research survey the analysis of the expressive vocabulary is carried out by using a test which was created for this intent. The test contains three subtests focused on different parts of speech. These are nouns, verbs and adjectives. With this test the evaluation of a range of expressive vocabulary and quality of expression is possible. The resulting data show that within the quality of expresion there is a greater difference between proband groups than in the range of expressive vocabulary. The thesis also describes in detail the differences in range of expressive vocabulary depending on individual parts of speech and on ways of inquiring about test entries which are different in individual parts of subtests. The research also includes the analysis of influence of a few chosen social aspects on range of expressive vocabulary and on quality of expression. Edit the text for reading comprehension for pupils with hearing impairment

The work focuses on the problems of hearing impaired pupils, their education, describing teaching methods and editing texts for reading comprehension. The practical part was the presentation of texts in four genres, namely short stories, drama, poetry and scholarly article, verifying understanding of one of the selected modified texts in one classroom at an elementary school in Ječná and based on this experience, further develop the methodological process of creating these texts. Method of work was to analyze the available literature, further observations in the sample lesson of Czech language and literature at the end was to verify understanding through inspection questionnaire with open questions. Based on this verification, it was found that the adjusted texts help pupils better in the text or characters or navigate example to understand complex sentence parts units. But verification must be performed in several ways. Unable to rely on regular testing for pupils with hearing people using open questions. Neither the texts modified are not always definitive and must continue to work with them, as for every pupil must be treated individually.
