Attitude of teachers to the new curriculum reform

Diploma thesis is designed as quantitative research study. The aim is to find out the opinion and attitude of teachers from Czech primary schools concerning the new curriculum reform, which has officially come into use in the form of Framework Educational Program in 2005. The new system of curriculum documents replaces the former educational programs based on centrally imposed curriculum and thus broadens the autonomy of teachers and school institutions, who were assigned to prepare their own school educational program. Besides the changes both in the main objectives of primary education and to some extend in the educational content, there has also been a shift in the role and expectations related to the teacher profession. The main purpose of the study is to find out and describe teacher's prevailing opinion of such change in the educational concept and its benefits at the level of compulsory education. Another aim is to present, how teachers perceive the barriers and inner motivations related to these reform changes in schools, and how these barriers affect the overall attitude towards the reform. Skinheads - political activists?

The theme of the thesis entitled "Skinheads - political activists" is a description and follow-depth analysis of apolitical segment of the Czech skinhead subculture in the terms of their political orientations. Introduction to the theme consists of the subculture theories which were created in past. The following methodological part summarizes research progress of the selection of respondents by snowball sampling, the scenario of in-depth interviews and the analysis of alternative media. After this part there is a brief introduction to the history of skinhead subculture. Empirical findings than summarize political influences on subculture and its values and political orientations. The aim of this work is to reveal the link between extremism and subculture of skinheads in the Czech environment. The results of the analysis revealed that the apolitical segment of Czech skinhead subculture is not inherently extremist movement, although in some particular values intertwined with racist and xenophobic ideologies. Transmission of values in the family

Thesis is concerned with the transmission of values and norms in the family. The goal is to quantify the level of transmission of values between children and parents. The second step is to identify what impact on transmission of value in the family has education of parents and parenting style, which apply to a child during adolescence. Underpinning the findings is the analysis of data file "Cultural and value orientations 2008", which is unique in that it includes real families (parents and their adult children). Attention is focused on the values for different levels of generality (the value frameworks, value orientations, attitudes and norms) and education in the family as a source of values. Analysis shows a high degree of agreement between parents and their children in the sphere of values. As the main variables that affect the transmission of values were identified education of parents and parenting style.
Right extremism in CZ 2007-2010

The thesis deals with the phenomenon of right-wing extremism in the Czech Republic during 2007-2010 which is viewed from the socio-constructivist perspective of the sociological concept of moral panic. The theoretical part focuses on definition of the terms right-wing extremism and moral panic with regard to their evolution and various approaches in social theory and also briefly describes the situation and significant subjects of the Czech extremist right-wing scene in the analyzed period. The analytic part presents media content of four selected aspects and cases of right-wing extremism as published in nationally released newspaper Mladá fronta DNES which is examined in depth using qualitative content analysis. The task of the analysis was to determine to what extent and by which specific ways the representation of these cases in given newspaper fulfills the aspects and processes of an ideal type of moral panic, represented by Klocke and Muschert's hybrid model of moral panics, and how the cases are put in the general framework of constructing the right-wing extremism as a prominent social problem and a moral panic.
Survey of the validity of the methods of employee selection

The Diploma thesis "Survey of the Validity of the Methods of Employee Selection" deals with analysis of methods validity that is used for the company employees'selection. On the basis of literature studied, author identifies following keywords related to the subject of the diploma thesis: Human Resources Management, Vision, Business strategy, HR strategy, Human Resources planning, Employees' selection and recruitment, Fluctuation and Evaluation of Work performance. Author further focuses on the research of validity of personal selection methods that have already been published earlier. Author performed particular research solution that took place in three phases. The first stage explored an optimal mix of selection methods for recruitment according to particular positions. Respondents were experts specializing on issues of Human Resources issues. The second phase focused on research of validity of personal selection methods. Validity of selection methods was examined by correlation coefficient between predicted work performance estimated by the given method, and the measured real work performance of the recruited employee in the evaluation system of the work performance. Gender differences in risk attitude among Czech high school students

The diploma thesis "Gender differences in risk attitude among Czech high school students" discusses how people deal with risk in everyday life. The first part of the paper investigates the forming of risk perception, and the factors that influence the process. Social and cultural structures are of high importance, but also individual factors (such as gender or personal experiences) as well as media representation matter. Risk perception plays a key role in decision-making in situations dealing with uncertainty and the paper asserts that it is possible to model risk behaviour and make predictions accordingly. The second part of the paper presents research on risk attitudes among Czech high school students. It deals with gender differences and students' willingness to risk in three key domains: social, health and leisure time. The model used in the paper focuses on students' willingness to participate in a given activity, their perception of the probability of negative outcomes, and the degree of pleasure derived from the activity. Barbora Youssef Staňkovská - abstract (annotation) of the Master thesis "The Role of National Identities in the Media Space Devoted to European Politics: The Czech Presidency of the European Union in European Press" Abstract Diploma thesis "The Role of National Identities in the Media Space Devoted to European Politics: The Czech Presidency of the European Union in European Press" deals with media images of national identities, the way of their formation in media, and the effects of these images on transformations of national identities during the process of European integration. Using the qualitative content analysis and an inductive approach to the collected data, an analysis of two corpuses of articles was carried out. These articles treated the topic of the Czech presidency of the European Union and were published during that period in the Czech newspaper MF DNES and the French newspaper Le Monde. The most important Czech actors and other elements were identified, which together hold up the media image of the Czech Republic. The media image of the Czech national identity is described through them. Interest in Politics and Views on the Participation of Citizens in Decision-Making - February 2017

In February 2017, the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on interest of Czech citizens in politics generally, politics of the Czech Republic and European Union and worldwide politics, and also examined views on the involvement of citizens in decision-making processes. 57% of Czechs are interested in domestic politics, 48% are interested in politics generally, 46% are interested in worldwide politics, and 39% are interested in EU politics. People would like to make decisions primarily on important local issues. This view is supported by 83% of citizens. On the other hand, decisions on important laws and international treaties should be made by elected politicians. This view is supported by 73% of citizens in the case of laws and 82% in the case of international treaties.
