Sociomapping of work teams
Rozehnalová, Eva ; Wagnerová, Irena (referee) ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor)
The theoretical part of the thesis deals at first with the mathematical basis of sociomapping. Several sociomapping types are subsequently defined and the main basic principles for the creation and interpretation of sociomaps are described. Sociomapping is also compared to selected sociodiagnostic and statistical methods. Workteam issues are briefly introduced in the next chapter. The subject and areas of workteam sociomapping application are then defined. The final part addresses several aspects of sociomapping and discusses possibilities of measuring its reliability and validity. The empirical part presents a research on interpretation of sociomaps. Qualitative study shows how sociomaps are interpreted intuitively and which areas of interpretation can be potentially problematic. The quantitative part captures the ability and degree of certainty of sociomap interpretation and determines their dependence on demographic variables. The relationship between the certainty of interpretation and its difficulty is considered as well.
Making "exit" decisions: monitoring and adapting intuitive judgement processes involved
Bakošová, Nina ; Wagnerová, Irena (referee) ; Riegel, Karel (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine exit decision-making (e.g. decision to cease a venture, project or any other kind of activity, which required previous monetary, time or other investment) as well as to explore possible enhancements of exit decision-making not only in business context but also in personal decisions. Two theoretical approaches were applied: Prospect theory by Kahneman and Tversky and Intuitive judgment approach. Implications stemming from these theoretical models were employed and two phenomena characteristic of exit decision-making specified. Namely, it was (reverse) sunk cost fallacy and resulting (de-)escalation of commitment, which were also explored empirically. Research consisted of two parts. First developed a new research scenario aiming at personal exit decision-making. Second explored the reaction to four levels of sunk costs (monetary or time expenses). As Phase B of Pilot study showed, new scenario proved managed to elicit reverse sunk costs effect. Further changes were made to the scenario for the purposes of Main study, which resulted in equivocal findings. Monetary sunk costs did not elicit any expected effect, time sunk costs induced an incoherent reverse sunk cost effect and respective de-escalation of commitment. Author believes these results revealed that important...
Personality psychological assessment of eligibility of job applicants in prisons
Faltejsková, Irena ; Wagnerová, Irena (advisor) ; Urbanová, Miluše (referee)
The main aim of this thesis was to design methodology that could be used for psychological assessment of personal capability of applicants that apply for position of warders in Czech prisons. As fare as my motivation for dealing with this topic is concerned at least two reasons could be mentioned. The first was a need for new tools which would be suitable for effective assessment of applicants. The second reason is more personal and comes out of my need for professional growth in the field. The submitted paper is divided into two parts. The first part is theoretical while the second one is empirical. In the first part I deal with a question of selection of employees from a perspective of job analyses, job definition and specification, competence, cognition of personality, determining criteria for assessment of personal capability, procedure of employees' selection and use of assessment centre method. Experiences of some professionals working in Czech prisons were although used to enrich the theoretical part. We tried to create a base that could help us to make "profesiogram", structured interview and methods for selection of employees which would be suitable for assessment of applicants for posts of warders. The paper is based on a pilot study which took place in the prison Nové Sedlo. If somebody...
Prevention of unemployment. Developing key competencies
Růžková, Jitka Eva ; Rymeš, Milan (referee) ; Wagnerová, Irena (advisor)
This thesis deals with the issue of unemployment and its possible prevention by developing key competencies such as knowledge, skills, attitudes and personal characteristics. These are not only universally applicable when looking for a job, but are generally useful considering present demands. In the general part this thesis brings closer some theoretical solutions explaining the relationship between humans and work and it sheds light on the present understanding of unemployment as a social problem that has considerable impact on certain, perhaps socially challenged or vulnerable, groups of people. Here are presented facts about the impact unemployment has on human beings and their interaction with demographic and personal characteristics. Furthermore the reader becomes acquainted with thus far used approaches to conceptualizations of competencies and their effect on successful merging into the work life. The conclusion of this section attends to the possibilities of preventing unemployment on the primary, secondary and tertiary level. Outlined here are the specifics of individual and group work with the unemployment or people in danger of unemployment. The practical part briefly presents the creation of the program for the development of key competencies; it shows the running of the program which was...
