In the next part of work is mentioned a survey of curriculum which is instructed in lower and upper secondary school and university in brief, which relates to this theme. The next part is a survey and brief characterization of collections of problems with this theme. The fourth part of the work is devoted to the electronic collection of problems, its history, the technical elaboration of problems, there is described the...
Dance classes with physics
Fišar, Tomáš ; Mandíková, Dana (advisor) ; Gottwald, Stanislav (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with applications of secondary school physics in dance. It focuses mainly on the connection of classical mechanics and dance courses, which first-year secondary school students usually attend. The work is intended as a self-study material for women, teachers or dancers and does not require prior explanation, because all important concepts are explained and introduced in it. The reader will also get to know the dances taught in dance courses, the basics of music theory, the basics of human body anatomy, the principle of rotation, the principle of interaction between partners and foot action technique. Everything which is included in the thesis, can then be tried on our body.
Solutions and highly dilute solutions in experiments and tasks
Fodor, Kata ; Drozd, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Mandíková, Dana (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to acquaint the reader with the matters of solutions and strongly diluted solutions. This is a topic that belongs to chemistry, biology as well as physics. It is for this reason that the following work can serve as an auxiliary teaching text for several subjects. Among other things, it contains examples and their sample solutions. The theoretical part is followed by a description of several experiments with available aids and apparatus, with which I tried to verify the validity of Raoult's laws and demonstrate the existence of osmotic pressure. It is obvious that common school equipment hardly can be used for this purpose. More accurate devices would be needed, but such equipment is too expensive for ordinary schools. This, of course, amazes at the ingenuity and skill of the experimenters, who were able to discover the properties of strongly dilute solutions in the 19th century.
Ways of upper secondary school students to study physics at university - view of their physics teachers
Sýkora, Petr ; Žák, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Mandíková, Dana (referee)
The main purpose of this diploma thesis is to obtain information on how Matfyz can improve its cooperation with high school students and their physics teachers to increase students' interest in physics. To obtain these information a questionnaire was sent to physics teachers, who had been mentioned by Matfyz students as teachers who had had a positive effect on them. The questionnaire itself consists of four parts - events for students, events for physics teachers, Mat- fyz activities, and teaching. The data was processed using both quantitative and qualitative methods, whereas larger part of research was build on quantitative methods. The collected data showed that according to respondents the most im- portant task is to focus on non-Prague students. Thus, organizers should organize events in various places in the Czech Republic or use modern technologies and organize events on-line (that also applies to events for physics teachers). High school students might also meet with scientists and university physics students, visit laboratories except for visitors' days (e. g. during excursions, internships) or have an opportunity to find out how physics in companies is used. Respondents expressed support for writing a new physics textbook on Matfyz, one containing more difficult parts for talented students.
Didactic games in physics education
Otáhalová, Klára ; Kekule, Martina (advisor) ; Mandíková, Dana (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with didactic games in physics education. A didactic game is a type of an activating teaching method. Didactic games are closely related to didactic toys. In the thesis, a survey of the use of didactic games in physics education is described. Didactic games according to the survey are used by most physics teachers. Eight didactic games were created. I received feedback on four of these games from students as part of piloting at schools. The thesis includes all materials, that are needed for testing the created didactic games. Keywords: didactic game, didactic toy, physics education
Studet`s preconceptions about force and motion
Čížková, Dita ; Mandíková, Dana (advisor)
The graduation thesis deals with student`s preconceptions about force and motion. The thesis is divided to three sections. The first division picks up the threads of the bachelor thesis. Within this bachelor thesis there was performed a survey of ideas about relation of force and motion with students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University and secondary schools' students. Results of survey based on a test with six qualitative problems are shown in tables and are commented. The way of processing of the results is closely described. In addition, the survey results are compared with similar studies performed in previous years in Czechoslovakia, mainly they were compared with results of similar research from the years 1981/82 and 1983/84. The survey results show existence of misconceptions, which persist despite school education. The survey of researches in this area is mentioned in the second division. In the third part of the thesis, I focus on the processing of research which was executed in terms of FCI test with the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University first year students. The results are shown in tables and are commented again. The results of this research are compared with available results of similar researches from other countries. The individual...
Attitudes of Czech students toward science subjects and teaching methods used in these subjects (Data analysis of PISA 2015 research)
Pschotnerová, Petra ; Mandíková, Dana (advisor) ; Chvál, Martin (referee)
This diploma thesis concerns the analysis of data from student, teacher and school questionnaires for PISA 2015 survey conducted in the Czech Republic. The conceptual framework of PISA 2015 questionnaire survey and characteristics of previous PISA and TIMSS surveys are briefly described in the thesis. As far as the student questionnaires are concerned, we have mainly focused on teaching methods used in scientific subjects and the attitudes of Czech students to these subjects. We have also taken interest in students' feelings at school, their satisfaction with life, their school ambitions, their interests, and the use of ICT. As for the teacher questionnaires, we have particularly chosen questions focused on teaching methods used in scientific subjects, teacher education and the relationship to their profession. Furthermore, we have processed questions from the school questionnaires focused on general information about the school, size of the school, school equipment and management, teaching staff and phenomena hindering the learning of students. The obtained data are presented in graphs and tables. If a question was part of any previous PISA or TIMSS survey, we compared the development of responses throughout the surveys. To evaluate these changes in the responses, we have used statistical methods. All...
Interpretation of physics graphs by experts and novices followed by the eye-tracker
Vondráčková, Terézia ; Kekule, Martina (advisor) ; Mandíková, Dana (referee)
This thesis is focused on identifying key aspects of mechanics graphs regarded by students and experts. It also contains observations of student's attention focused on each graph. This data was collected using eye tracking camera. 23 high school students and 14 experts participated in this research. Our group of experts contained graduate and post-graduate students as well as researchers from faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University. Our results suggest that experts were able to memorize more information from each graph than high school students. Difference in focus on relevant parts of graphs was obvious from analyzing correct and incorrect answers of high school students and they consider axes and their labeling as the key parts of graphs in contrast to the students. Incorrectly answering students were more focused on parts with no relevance to the task in question. On the contrary, students with correct answers spent less time looking on non-relevant parts of graphs. Ideas of incorrectly answering students were mostly focused on wrong idea about graph as a sketch of real situation, or picture resembling physical situation.
Teaching of upper secondary school teachers whose students continue to study physics at university
Špilínková, Ivana ; Žák, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Mandíková, Dana (referee)
The strategic goal of the research presented in this diploma thesis is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of physics teaching at secondary schools. During the research, we focused on the following two questions: Which quality parameters are typical for teaching led by physics teachers whose students continue their studies at MFF UK? How do teachers affect students gifted in physics and motivated for it? A case study was chosen as the research plan. Specifically, we focused on teaching of three teachers, whose students continue to study physics at university to an increased extent. The quantitative part, in which the pedagogical observation of teaching took place, was led as ex-post-facto research. This was followed by a qualitative part, in which semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. Thanks to them the obtained information was put in a broader context. The research results showed that fulfillment of several parameters is common for the teaching of all the teachers (e.g. physics expertise, mathematics model, abstraction, students' expressing), in other parameters their teaching differs (e.g. teaching aids, lecturing, students' interest, use of assessment) and some parameters are almost non-existent in teaching (e.g. work with text, heuristic method). Several research...
