Possibilities of perfluorinated organic compounds (PFCs) removal in drinking water treatment plants and their occurrence in drinking water sources in the Czech Republic
Čermáková, Lenka ; Fialová, Kateřina ; Prokopová, Michaela ; Semerád, Jaroslav ; Petříček, Radim ; Pivokonská, Lenka ; Cajthaml, Tomáš ; Pivokonský, Martin
This summary research report was implemented within the project TAČR TJ04000212 program to support applied research ZÉTA „Possibilities of perfluorinated organic compounds (PFCs) removal in drinking water treatment plants and their occurrence in drinking water sources in the Czech Republic“. This report is addressed to water treatment plant operators and serves as a basic material for optimizing the coagulation / flocculation and adsorption process in water treatment. The report explains in detail the issue of removal of perfluorinated organic substances (PFCs) in water treatment, especially the process of adsorption in pilot plant conditions. This report will be used as a theoretical basis for the operation of the water treatment plant in Kutná Hora operated by the Water Management Company Vrchlice - Maleč, a. s.
Household drinking water filters
Horáková, Gabriela ; Načeradská, Jana (advisor) ; Fialová, Kateřina (referee)
The thesis summarizes the current knowledge about the use of domestic point-of-use water filters and evaluates their advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of using these devices is the removal of unwanted substances that can be found in drinking water. These substances can be, for example, disinfection by-products and micropollutants, such as pharmaceutical or pesticide residues. Especially for well water users, filters can be a a good option for arsenic and nitrates removal. Filters are also able to improve the organoleptic properties of drinking water. Among the undesirable effects of using home filters is a change in the microbiological quality of the filtered water, caused by regrowth of bacteria on the filter. An increase in the concentration of opportunistic pathogenic bacteria in filtered water can be problematic, this can pose a risk especially to immunocompromised persons. Another undesirable effect can be the unintentional removal of necessary minerals, especially when using devices operating on the principle of reverse osmosis. The concentrations of silver that can be released from bacteriostatically treated activated carbon are so low that based on current knowledge, they should not pose a health risk. Based on the collected information, several recommendations are proposed...
Emerging Adulthood: the quarter-life crisisa nd other major themes
Fialová, Kateřina ; Valentová, Hana (advisor) ; Presslerová, Pavla (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the period of young adulthood, its experience, and the important topics that accompany it. The period is examined through the theoretical concepts of "emerging adulthood" and "quarter-life crisis". The theoretical part of the thesis defines the current concept of adulthood and then mentions relevant psychological theories (E. H. Erikson; J. Marcia; D. Levinson; J. J. Arnett or O. Robinson). The practical part reports on the progress and results of a research study based on the principles of qualitative methodology. Eight individual semi-structured interviews have been conducted in the first phase. The research sample consists of a group of women and men aged 25-30, childless with a minimum education at the secondary school level. The recorded interviews were then subjected to a thematic analysis in the second phase. The result of the study is a comprehensive description of seven topics related to adulthood. Topics include a summary of the research participants' definitions of adulthood; notion of their own maturity or maturity in relation to other people. The results further reflect the familiarity and experience of the research group with the quarter-life crisis phenomenon. KEYWORDS quarter-life crisis; emerging adulthood; young adults; development crisis; thematic...

Information System Selection
Fialová, Kateřina ; Kindlová, Dita (referee) ; Koch, Miloš (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the selection of an information system and its subsequent implementation in the company. Theoretical background is presented for better understanding of this topic. The issue is solved by processing of selected analyses to identify gaps and problem areas across the whole company. The knowledge gained is used to suggest the change in the context of the system selection issue, which is done through coarse and fine selection, subsequent implementation and evaluation of the benefits of introduced changes.
An analysis of determinants of immigration to the CR.
Toušková, Daniela ; Fialová, Kamila (advisor) ; Vyležík, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of my bachelor thesis is to introduce the issues of migration from the economic point of view based on data focused on the Czech Republic. There is only the net immigration analyzed in this thesis due to the lack of relevant data available for the emigration ones. The net immigration is represented by the difference of number of foreigners working in the CR legally. There is a linear regression model used in this analysis and dependence of difference of number of foreigners working in CR on several economic variables is estimated by the ordinary least squares method. There are quarterly data collected in 2001-2009 used in the analysis. The results show that the largest impact on the growth of number of working foreigners has the growth of unemployment rate. This impact is negative, which corresponds to the economic theory presented in the theoretical part of this thesis. Other variables significant for the difference of number of foreigners are year-to-year difference of real wage and difference of real gross domestic income.
Unemployment and education in the Czech Republic
Hofman, Stanislav ; Fialová, Kamila (advisor) ; Kameníček, Jiří (referee)
Workers with higher adjusted education are characterised by higher wages, higher participation rate and lower unemployment. The theory of human capital explains lower number of unemployed workers from this group primarily by stronger attachment of more qualified workers to an employer's company and also by more effective job searching, which result in a shorter duration of unemployment. This paper set itself a task to analyse the reasons of variations in unemployment and vacancy rates for groups with different adjusted education by using the model of the Beveridge curve and the matching function. The statistic tests confirmed the theoretical hypothesis about lower risk of unemployment for the group with higher adjusted education. Although unemployed more qualified workers demonstrate lower duration of unemployment as well, it was not positively proved on the model of matching function, that it is due to more effective job searching.
