Půbalová, Božena ; Vodochodský, Ivan (advisor) ; Šmídová, Olga (referee)
This thesis is a final report from a qualitative study focused on vegetarian parents, who also lead their children to vegetarianism. The main purpose of the study was to examine in what ways the parents interpret and analyse their position in society, which often views the children vegetarianism as a controversial issue. The theoretical part of the work describes the background, which is relevant to the topic and help us to put the situation of vegetarian parents into a necessary context. The general information about (childhood) vegetarianism, health and social issues linked to it, are presented. The factors underlying the "family vegetarianism" - cultural relativity and symbolic of meat and nutritional discourse in combination with the ideology of motherhood, are also discussed. An entire section of the study was given to qualitative analysis of the half-structured interviews with eight vegetarian parents. The decision about the meatless diet of their children is not always accepted by general society or by their extended families and parents also often face moral judgments rather than medical problems. Therefore parents have to (re)interpret their parental identity in accordance with the positive ideology of parenthood, for example by pointing out the medical advantages of vegetarianism or by...

Staňkovská, Barbora ; Šmídová, Olga (advisor) ; Maříková, Hana (referee)
The point of this thesis is to explore the way of perception of the relationships between the second and the third generation in a family by grandchildren. These relationships make up an important part of the family; nevertheless they are not given an adequate research attention. The reason for this is often the perspective of disintegration of wider family relationships along with the evolution from traditional to modern society, which is not backed up by data, as the author shows in the theoretic part. Though the meaning of intergenerational relationships changes, they are still embedded into the relationships in nuclear family, which results from surveys of intergenerational relationships carried out here, in the Czech Republic. What will be important for the future form of intergenerational relationships are norms and patterns for the formation of these relationships internalized by the youngest generation. That is why the author focuses her analysis on the perception of the relationships between the second and the third generation in the eyes of grandchildren. She stems from narrative interviews with grandchildren on the topic of grandparents and using the method of grounded theory she comes to three different contexts of relationships perception in the eyes of grandchildren - the perception...

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of introducing changes in area of social and legal child protection. In 2012, social and legal child protection act was significantly amended. The great inovation of this act has brought about significant changes, based in inspiration from the British model of social and legal child protection, which most strongly reflected in the concept of foster care, in increasing the participation of services users through continuous assessment of the child's situation and individual care planning. In order to unify common practice and ensure its quality, it has been chosen to achieve these objectives of unification the quality standards. In my qualitative research I am charting the attitudes of Departments of social and legal child protection at Prague Town district offices. Futhermore, using Kotter's eight-point process of changes, I search how much these attitudes have been reflected in the practice of managing their departments and facilitating the change process for the staff of these depatments. In the second round, the selection of researched leaders was guided by the idea of introducing "good practice". For this reason, the information is also briefly compared with the results of inspections carried by Prague City Hall.

Slezáková, Zdeňka ; Dudová, Radka (advisor) ; Šmídová, Olga (referee)
Bonding is an emotional and biological process that creates a bond between a mother and her child and is among others important for easier breastfeeding, faster recovery of the mother etc. It is important to support it by an early contact between the mother and her newborn child. The diploma thesis aims to compare the discourse regarding mother-infant bonding and its support in our country around the year of 1980, when the rooming-in system appears, up to the present, with the milestone between 1998 and 2000, when the Centre of Active Birth was established as a result of changes in birth care that occurred then and which started to offer a different kind of care from the model that was known and used in the Czech Republic at that time. Emphasis will be put on the development of the discourse, changes in birth and after-birth care it has brought and changes of its participants and the role which women have as receivers of care. The theoretic part introduces the relatively little-known term 'bonding' and its support from the biological and social points of view, then discourse analysis will be applied in the methodological and experimental parts of the thesis. Analysed materials included media communication both in printed and electronic forms available at each analysed period. Keywords:...

Generational shift in women's attitudes towards the upbringing of their children in the early 21st century
Nováková, Luďka ; Maříková, Hana (advisor) ; Šmídová, Olga (referee)
This thesis deals with the generational shift in women's attitudes towards the upbringing of their own children in the early 21st century. The aim of this thesis is to determine how today's generation of mothers reflects the upbringing of their parents, reflection of their own experience with upbringing and whether that leads to some inter- generational shift or change within the approach itself. Possible causes and influences of shifts and changes are discussed. To achieve this goal a qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews with women - mothers was conducted. The research shows that in fact shifts in these approaches actually occur and that the main criterion is a reflection of one's own childhood in particular, reflection of one's parents and reflection of the current relationship with one's parents.
