A student's work that has been marked by the teacher is included as well.
Demonstrating set of electric circuits
Kohout, Václav ; Koudelková, Věra (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Irena (referee)
The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to develop a demonstration kit for teaching electrical circuits at lower secondary school. The thesis briefly discusses the necessary parameters of the demonstration set depending on the content of the curriculum taught in lower secondary school. The criteria used in the selection of a physical aid are also mentioned. These are applied in the search of existing demonstration kits applicable in school physics. The thesis further describes in detail the development of individual components and summarizes the definitive version of the kit developed by us. The work considers the experience of testing the developed set in the teaching of physics at lower secondary school - with an emphasis on the elimination of identified shortcomings. The work provides suggestions for the use of the developed set in teaching physics at lower secondary school.

This bachelor thesis' aim is the verification of instructions for constructing simple measuring instruments (i.e. barometer, hygrometer, force gauge, hydrometer and galvanometer) and their correction and improvement. It reviews the possibility of using these instruments in teaching - in laboratory classes, as homework or in distance teaching. This thesis, therefore, also includes worksheets for activities with constructed instruments for primary and secondary school pupils.
Application of an interactive whiteboard for physics education
Šimková, Jana ; Dvořáková, Irena (advisor) ; Drozd, Zdeněk (referee)
In terms of my master thesis I accomplished a partial research of information about using interactive whiteboard at school in the Czech Republic and abroad. I described the use of modern technologies and interactive whiteboards in the classes. I compiled my own experience and knowledge obtained during the visitation classes using an interactive board. Part of the evaluation was a questionnaire lled out by students. In the questionnaire, I examined their opinions of the bene ts of working with the interactive whiteboard in classes. In my thesis I focus on the ACTIVboard interactive whiteboard. I described the basic functionality of the ACTIVstudio application and created sample demonstration workbooks intended for teaching physics. The demonstration workbooks has been divided into three categories according to the way of using and describing their properties in detail. In the conclusion the results and future prospects of my work are summarized. The appendix contains three demonstration workbooks in text format. All created demonstration workbooks and templates for solving the physics problems and the text of the thesis are attached in electronic format on the enclosed CD-ROM.

Title: Physics education of students and teachers in the Heureka project Author: RNDr. Irena Dvořáková Department: Department of Physics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Leoš Dvořák, CSc., Department of Physics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague Abstract: This doctoral thesis is aimed at physics education of students and teachers in the Heureka project. The introductory part concerns the brief outline of the current state of physics education both in the Czech Republic and around the world. The next chapters describe the genesis of the project, characterize its main principles and give several examples of methodological sequences in which the application of these principles is shown. The impact of these ideas on students is illustrated by several school tests and the Lawson test, too. The significant part of this thesis deals with the teacher training in the Heureka project. The methods and forms used are described and the impact is analyzed. The international contacts and their development are mentioned in the closing chapter. Several more examples of materials both for students' work and teachers' seminars are published in the appendices. The DVD with digital recording of one lesson is also attached....
Experiential Learning in Physics Education
Kerepecká, Zuzana ; Koupilová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Irena (referee)
The thesis deals with using experiential learning in physics education. It begins with a review of the literature concerning this matter. The text is then focused on organizing longer events (i. e. events consisting of more individual activities) where experiential learning is used. The ideal process of planning such an event is described and attention is also paid to so-called "dramaturgy"; i. e. a way of choosing individual activities and arranging them. Two new activities for physics education based on experiential learning are offered (puzzle hunt with LEDs and doing a short scene about a life of a physicist) and instructions for making a teaching aid; that all focussed on physics. Furthermore, one activity proposed in the author's bachelor thesis (consisting of observing a night sky) was tested with students. The main part of this thesis describes the planning, realisation, and reflection of a two-day event organised for the purpose of this thesis. Experiential learning was used for teaching physics and the description of this event shows an application of theoretical principles in practice. Above all; the event might have positively influenced students' attitude towards physics thanks to experiential learning. 1

Application of Experiential Learning in Teaching Physics
Horálková, Zuzana ; Koupilová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Irena (referee)
The thesis deals with the method of experiential learning and its applications in teaching physics. Experiential learning is regarded as one of the possibilities how to accomplish educational goals. The first part of the thesis constitutes a reflection on the meaning of education, it offers, among others, a reason for discovering more about experiential learning. Furthermore, the theoretical background of experiential learning is described - Kolb's cycle and learning styles derived from it form a significant part; the growth zone is also presented. Attention is also paid to how the teacher and student are viewed in experiential learning. After the theoretical introduction, the thesis is more practical. It explains what a teacher has to know when creating and presenting an activity for students. This is followed by specific suggestions of activities which use the method of experiential learning and which are to be realised mainly outside the classroom (e.g. at an overnight school trip). The activities deal with different topics of physics (e.g. optics, acoustics or astrophysics). Students' own involvement and experience are emphasised. Suggested activities can supplement ordinary school teaching and thus let students know physics from a different perspective. 1
Classroom optics-related activities
Štyksová, Gabriela ; Kácovský, Petr (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Irena (referee)
Title: Classroom optics-related activities Author: Gabriela Štyksová Department: Department of Physics Education Supervisor: RNDr. Petr Kácovský, Ph.D., Department of Physics Education Abstract: The main aim of this bachalor thesis was to create several worksheets with various optics experiments for teaching optics, that would be especially usable at primary schools. These worksheets were created for pupils as well as teachers, and involve group work. The work contains of 12 worksheets on six topics: straightforward propagation of light, image formation in a plane mirror, colors of objects, color folding, refraction of light and light scattering. All worksheets have been checked by experienced teachers and most of them have also been tested in real lessons. Therefore the teachers' versions of worksheets could be supplemented with methodological and technical notes in order to help future users prepare and use them. Part of the thesis is also an overview of selected materials that contain optics experiments and a chapter devoted to two ways mobile phones can be used in optics. Keywords: optics experiments, worksheets, pupils' group work
Basic models of simple electric circuits and their use in physics teaching and learning
Vítková, Miriam ; Dvořáková, Irena (advisor) ; Koudelková, Věra (referee)
The bachelor's thesis focuses on simple models of electric circuits that are used in physics classes. First I selected the overview of the models from accessible sources. Subsequently I categorised them to models that are suitable for classroom demonstration and to models that are more appropriate for discussion or error analysis. For a basic overview of models that are currently used in physics classes I created an online questionnaire and also interviewed several teachers of physics.I discovered that although there are various simple models of electric circuits available, not all of them would be suitable for classroom demonstration without subsequent discussion about possible errors. I also found out that there are teachers who like to use models of electric circuits in their classes whereas others avoid them because of the risk of students' misinterpretation.
