Research-like education in primary schools
Svátková, Barbora ; Vančata, Václav (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
In this thesis, we assume a pan-European issue of the decline of interest in science and science education. In connection with this issue we conducted a literature search. We have also mapped the literature related to the issue of education research in the Czech Republic and the rest of the world. In an effort to increase pupils' interest, increase enthusiasm for science, we deal with activation teaching methods that compare with frontal teaching. As a motivational method we chose a research method of teaching. We prepared a lesson, which we tested among pupils of secondary school. In this work we watched 16 hours in 6 classes. Those lectures were inquiry and frontal way led. The results are presented in the practical part of this thesis. During lectures we wanted to stimulate students' interest in science and science research. Medicinal plants: analysis of biology textbooks and the project proposal for lower secondary school
Valčíková, Marie ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
This thesis Medicinal plants: analysis of biology textbooks and the project proposal for lower secondary school is focused on project-based learning at lower secondary school on the subject of medicinal plants and on the analysis of biology textbooks in the context of the topic. The first part is devoted to the theoretical bases on the method of project-based learning and theory about medicinal plants. The theoretical part of the project-based learning involves the historical development of project-based learning and the current concept of project-based learning. The theoretical part devoted to medicinal plants presents a view of this issue, focusing on the basic active substances of plants and their harvesting, drying and storage. The following is part of the research, which includes quite an extensive analysis of biology textbooks on the subject of medicinal plants. This section presents a considerable part of the thesis and thus represents a valuable material for teachers who want to deal with medicinal plants in their classes. Another key part of this work is design and implementation of project-based learning on the subject of medicinal plants at the lower secondary school. This chapter is focused on the process of creation of the project "Plant treasures of our garden", which is designed by...

Video as a Tool for Increasing Motivation and Developing Student's Skills in Didactics of Biology
Řeháková, Anna ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
This master's thesis refers to the use of video as a teaching tool in the subject Didactics of Biology. It comprises two parts, one theoretical and another practical. The theoretical part charts the didactical and practical subjects taught at the Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague, and deals with the use of video for the professional development of teachers. For the practical part, 8 lesson observation videos were recorded and placed on a newly created website (www.didaktikabiologievidea.cz). The observation videos were submitted to an analysis based on the 3A method and were used afterwards during the courses on Didactics of Biology. A questionnaire was carried out among the students of the teaching profession to evaluate the benefits of the videos for them. The questionnaire surveyed the motivation for studying Didactics of Biology, as well as the impact that these observation videos had on the performance of the teaching profession and the improvement of the teaching abilities. All above stated goals were accomplished in this work. Key words: lesson observation videos, didactics of biology, 3A, methodology, teaching profession, motivation, teaching abilities

Microbiological Project Using the Disc Diffusion Method for Lower Secondary School ABSTRACT This thesis deals with project-based education and his involvement in the functional structure of the czech educational theory and practice. It refers to the project as an innovative teaching process, which is qualitatively able to shield asked RVP requirements and the implementation of which contributes to the development of educational goals and core competencies. Theoretical bases emphasize not only on the characteristics of project-based education as such, but also on the appropriate application of educational strategies in the learning process. Specifically mentioned are possibilities of project-based teaching in the teaching of natural history, biology and ecology. The theoretical background followed by the practical part, which shifts the theory of project learning into practice. There is particular designed a project called "Strength of antibiotics", which is then implemented and reflected. Is described in detail during the planning, implementation and evaluation of the project. KEYWORDS: project-based education, school...
Options of Approach to Teaching of Morphology of Leaf at Lower Secondary School
Němečková, Linda ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
1 ABSTRACT The thesis deals with the options of approach to teaching leaf morphology at lower secondary schools from both theoretical and emprical point of view. The empirical part is then verified on-site within the teaching process. The theoretical part is dedicated to the topic of leaf and particular aspects of the teaching process. The empirical part at first attempts to conduct a survey of the methods and organization forms of teaching applied at particular lower secondary schools within the teaching of leaf morfology. Afterwards, it analyses selected textbooks used for teaching biology. Next part describes suggested methods and organization forms of teaching applied less frequently during the education. The second goal of the thesis is to put in practice the methods and organization forms of teaching within an educational experiment. Afterwards, a didactic test is used at representative schools to verify the efficiency. At the end of the thesis, the results of the following are presented: the observation of teaching leaf morphology, the analysis of the biology textbooks content, and the didactic test. The results of the didactic test demonstrate the extent to which the skills and knowledge of the students are effected by the methods and organization forms of teaching applied within the educational...
Educational use of geological park Czech Paradise in teaching upper primary school biology
Zrůstová, Klára ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
The presented diploma thesis has an educational character and tries to find a way how to teach geology more attractive at primary schools. It includes authorial proposals for field trip routes and school experiments that can be implemented in lessons or within other educational school activity during school year. The field trips are built to be carried out in the geological park of Bohemian Paradise because of its natural wealth giving many possibilities to be used in teaching geology and other related fields of natural sciences. The experiments are designed to be realized during school lessons, therefore they are meant to be as little as possible time consuming and also the necessary material is supposed to be easily available. A theoretical part of the diploma thesis contains a summary of available natural datasets about the geological park of Bohemian Paradise, a review of the educational principles for organising of the field trips, creating worksheets, experiments and games in teaching process. The principles of creating concept maps are also included. An integral part of the thesis is authorial research with students and teachers via questionnaire survey proving that experiments and field trips are an indispensable component of teaching process and appropriate motivational tools at primary...
