Numerical simulation of cerebrospinal fluid transport
Žáček, Petr ; Maršík, František (advisor) ; Otáhal, Jakub (referee)
Modelling of cerebrospinal fluid flow is important for understanding its influence on central nervous system, especially spinal cord. One of the reasons for its study is a disease called syringomyelia that probably develops as a result of severance of neural pathways by bubbles emerging during the propagation of pressure (expan- sion) disturbances through spinal cord and its surroundings. It is characterized by fluid-filled cavities in spinal cord. In this thesis, a model of fluid-filled co-axial elastic tubes is proposed that can help us simulate pressure disturbances propa- gation through spinal cord including its interactions and possible increase as the result of interferences or reflection. We derive quasi-one-dimensional governing equations in the form of nonlinear hyperbolic system of conservational laws and with its numerical solution by two-step Lax-Wendroff method with added artifi- cial viscosity we can quantitatively estimate almost twofold increase of pressure difference. 1

This bachelor’s thesis deals about the calculation and design of belt conveyors with focusing also on the atypical design solutions. Contains the basic classification, design solutions and complex calculation of belt conveyors. Also contains an overview of producers of purchased parts and units.
Analytical methods Used in the Studies on Chemical Ecology of Termites
Krasulová, Jana ; Hanus, Robert ; Sillam-Dusses, David ; Žáček, Petr ; Jiroš, Pavel ; Šobotník, Jan ; Kalinová, Blanka ; Bosáková, Z. ; Valterová, Irena
In this paper, I review our recent results on the trail-following communication in the Neotropical termite Glossotermes oculas (Serritermitidae) and the defensive chemistry of the African termite Psammotermes hybostoma (Rhinotermitidae). These findings belong to our current project focused on chemical ecology of critical termite genera from families Rhinotermitidae and Serritermitidae.
In vitro Incubation of the Labial Gland and Fat Body of the Bumblebee Males Bombus terrestris with [1,2-14C]acetate and Analysis of the Metabolites
Žáček, Petr ; Tykva, Richard ; Kindl, Jiří ; Valterová, Irena
Labial glands and fat bodies of the bumblebee males species Bombus terrestris were incubated in the medium with sodium [1,2-14]acetate and [1,2-14]acetate addition. Metabolites of the accetate substrate were identified by means of localization of beta emission from compounds containing 14C in their structure on thin layer chromatography plates with non destructive position sensitive radio detector and comprehensive two dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC-MS). It was found that radioactive [1,2-14]acetate incorporated into various kind of compounds such as terpenoids, fatty acids, hydrocarbons and triacylgylcerols.
Dvoudimenzionální chromatografie jako nástroj pro studium biosyntézy komponent samčího značkovacího feromonu čmeláků druhů Bombus lucorum a Bombus lapidarius
Žáček, Petr ; Luxová, Anna ; Kindl, Jiří ; Valterová, Irena
This work is focused on identification of deuterated metabolites synthesized from deuterated fatty acids in bumblebee body by means of comprehensive two dimensional gas chromatography.
