Rakovič, Adam ; Kašpar, Ladislav (advisor) ; Chvostek, Lukáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis will research how kids from 7 to 15 years improve in climbing on climbing wall, specifically at performance depending on time when the children actively climb. Performance will be based on whether a particular kid has improved in climbing a rated boulder and rope route. To be this improve perticeptible, there has to be time distance in which the kid has possibility to make progress in technical and physical abbilities. This time gap between first and second performances measurements was 10 months. The research took place in sport center climbing wall Třináctka in Prague, Lužiny. Compared performances were obtained by measuring performances of the respondents who regularly participate their climbing course. These performances and their difference which represented improvement or deterioration was subsequently processed in Microsoft Excel. The theoretical part includes description of wall climbing and other types of climbing depending on surface where is this sport practises. It also includes the informations about history, safety, climbing equipment, evaluation and classification of routes. It relates with events in climbing. From the results was evident that kids aged from 7 to 15 years overall improved their climbing skills during the research. We also find out that...

Fílová, Veronika ; Baláš, Jiří (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Author: Bc. Veronika Fílová Supervisor: doc. Jiří Baláš, Ph.D. Title: The effect of muscle relaxation time during intermittent isometric contractions on finger flexors oxygenation Objectives: The main aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effect of recovery time during intermittent isometric contractions of the finger flexors on the overall performance and oxygenation of the flexor digitorum profundus muscle in climbers of different performance categories. Methods: 27 climbers were divided into two groups according to current climbing performance (red point (RP) more and less than 7 on the Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA) scale). Group No. 1 consisted of 7 men and 6 women with an average performance of 5+/6- on the UIAA scale with an average climbing experience of 4.2 years. Group No. 2 consisted of 7 women and 7 men with an average performance of 8- on the UIAA scale with an average climbing experience of 11.2 years. All climbers completed 4 measurements on a 1D-SAC (Spacelab, Sofia, Bulgaria) climbing dynamometer with simultaneous data measurement using Portamon (Artinis Medical Systems, Einsteinweg, Netherlands) near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). During the first visit, the maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) of the finger flexors and the sustained contraction of the...
Possibilities of compensatory exercise in sport climbing
POLÁKOVÁ, Eliška
This bachelor thesis is about the possibilities of compensatory exercise in sport climbing. It is focused on muscle imbalance, stereotypical movements and the impact of compensatory exercise on the performance of the participants of the study. The main goal of this thesis is to create a proposal of compensatory exercises which should reduce muscle imbalances. The next goal is to describe the impact of these exercises on the participants performances. This thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is briefly describing climbing, its categories, the ranking of performance in this sport and biomechanics of climbing. The next chapters are about epidemiology of sport climbing injuries and muscle imbalance. After that there is a chapter focused on compensatory exercise, its categories, goals and principles. The practical part contains the methodology which was made in form of a qualitative research. Tha data from this research was processed into individual case reports. 3 people participated in this study. A semistructured interview within the anamnesis and a kinesiological examination were used to gather the data for this study. After that a unit of compensatory exercises was designed. The final examination was performed after aproximately 2 months and it is desribed in the results section. This thesis can be used as an inspiration for compensatory exercise for climbers. It can also be useful to coaches of childrens or adults and to general public interested in this topic.
Development of a Web Application for Documentation of Climbing Records
CINK, Jakub
The bachelor thesis aims to create a web application for the documentation of climbing records. The web application is based on the modern framework ASP.NET Core and deployed on the Microsoft Azure cloud service. For access to the data in the database is used object-relational mapper Entity Framework Core and the application was developed in an integrated development environment Microsoft Visual Studio. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with a description of the following terms: web application, database, climbing, sport climbing, and technologies that were used in the implementation of a web application. The practical part solves the requirements and layout of the web application. Furthermore, describes the implementation of individual components such as controllers, models, views, and other necessary parts. The last chapter describes the testing of the web application.
Documentary photography: Climbing as a lifestyle
Dlesková, Veronika ; Géla, František (advisor) ; Lábová, Sandra (referee)
The bachelor thesis entitled Documentary photography: Climbing as a lifestyle is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the historical connection between documentary photography and high-altitude mountaineering. Furthermore, I study the representation of climbing photography in media. The thesis presents the genre of documentary photography and explores the difference between documentary photography and reportage photography. I present the cameras used by climbers in the first half of the 20th century while climbing the highest peaks in the Himalayas. I briefly describe the methods used to document climbing on Mount Everest nowadays. In the practical part of my thesis, I document the current generation of Czech climbers, for which I use both the photos taken on the rocks and the pictures presenting an authentic insight into the lives of people who call climbing their lifestyle.
Relationship between critical slope as an indicator of maximum metabolic steady state and climbing performance
Bohadlo, Antonín ; Krupková, Dominika (advisor) ; Gajdošík, Jan (referee)
Title: Relationship of critical slope as an indicator of maximum metabolic steady state and climbing performance. Objectives: The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out the relationship between the critical inclination in the graded climbing test until exhaustion and the maximum performance of RP. Methods: The test involved 28 individuals (18 men and 8 women), aged 30.32 ± 8.23 years for men, 26.17 ± 2.82 years for women, performance on the scale of the Union International des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA) 8 men and 7 + / 8- women. Climbers underwent a graded climbing test to a subjective maximum and 3 times with a certain inclination until exhaustion. Based on a graded test, an estimate of 3 additional tendencies to exhaustion was determined. The resulting values were obtained in a formula that gave us the values of the critical slope. Subsequently, we plotted the results in two graphs and determined the correlation coefficient between the maximum slope and the difficulty of Red Point (RP) and the correlation coefficient between the critical slope and the difficulty of RP. Results: Based on the performed experiments, it was found that between the maximum slope and difficulty RP, the achieved slope is strongly negatively correlated with the value of RP (r = -0.62; p = 0.001) and within the...

Opršalová, Veronika ; Brtník, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bačáková, Radka (referee)
Author: Veronika Opršalová Title: The perception of objective and subjective risk of alpine tourism users Objective: Characterization of mountaineering and examination of awareness of the differences between subjective and objective danger. Methods: A questionnaire survey was used to obtain data from respondents, so it is quantitative research. Results: Of the total number of respondents, 86.3% stated that they could distinguish between subjective and objective dangers, which was verified using the following questions. Furthermore, it was found that the participants of mountaineering are aware of their mistakes and try not to repeat them. 61.3% of respondents have become more careful over the years, 30% of respondents have not changed their view of danger over the years and the remaining 8.7% of respondents no longer perceive danger as much as they used to after years. Conclusion: The thesis characterizes mountaineering and deals with its history. It also deals with the perception of subjective and objective danger of the participants of mountaineering. The thesis summarizes information on necessary equipment for mountaineering and trip planning. Keywords: climbing path, climbing, orientation, planning, equipment
The Mindful Body on the Edge: Forming the Adrspach Climbing Body
Růžičková, Johana ; Spalová, Barbora (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
This thesis focuses on the mode in which climbing in Adrspach rocks acompannied by risk forms the Adrspach climbing body. Its aim lies in contributing to current knowledge of individuals voluntarily participating in risk taking through the eyes of anthropology of the body. The thesis is based on edgework (Lyng, 1990), social-psychological theory of risk-taking made by Stephen Lyng and the following researches of other authors (West and Allin, Brymer, Laurendeau) and it borrows the term of edge as the key concept of forming a risk-facing body. Such body is created on the anthropological basis of Nancy Scheper-hughes and Margaret Lock's mindful body, Thomas Csordas's somatic modes of attention and Marcel Mauss's habitus. The idea of Adrspach climbing body also derives from an already existing concept of climbing body of british "adventure climbers" described by Neil Lewis. The intention of this approach is to connect these theoretical streams and in this fashion widen the current knowledge of human perception of risk-taking and the emotion of fear and to present the form of human body facing danger in relation with both individuality and social bonds. The findings about Adrspach climbing body are based on both ethnographical and autoethnographical research conducted in Adrspach and nine in-depth...
