Annotated translation: Maite Carranza - Palabras Envenenadas. Barcelona, Edebé, 2010

The aim of this Master Thesis is to provide the reader with an annotated literary translation of the book Palabras Envenenadas written by the Spanish author Maite Carranza. The first part of the thesis presents in total of 6 translated chapters of the novella Palabras Envenenadas. The second part focuses on presenting the information about the author and the style of the book as well as the role of the original and the translatated text in the source and target culture context, the development of the translation analysis and translation methods while discussing the translation problems and their solutions. Linguistic and didactic interpretation of translation

This thesis is focused on the linguistic and didactic interpretation of translation. Its objective is to introduce the reader to the issues of language-focused findings, which are reflected in translators' work and besides, to describe the situation of didactic contribution of translation in second language teaching. The work is divided ino two main parts. In the first one, there is translators' work and his competences being presented on the ground of chosen linguistic theories. These are further extended by a practical part of description and analysis of translation methods. The whole thesis is being closed by the second part which mediates the didactic point of view of the given issue. The basic overview facts of actual situation of the use of translation in modern language classes are summarized in here.

The aim of this Master Thesis is to present an annotated literary translation of two chapters of the novella Vstrecha from Maxim Osipov's book, Grech zhalovatsya. The first part of this Master Thesis contains a translation of selected chapters from the novella Vstrecha. The second part, a commentary on the translation, includes information about the author and his work, style classification, the role of translation, vocabulary, intertextuality, characterization of translation methods, strategy of solving translation problems and typology of translation shifts.

Comparison of translation methods and procedures in translations of Hungarian literature in the Czech and Slovak languages in the first and the second half of the 20th century

This bachelor thesis has theoretical and empirical character. The thesis focuses on the comparison of the translation methods used in the first and second half of the 20th century in the Czech and Slovakian translations of Hungarian literature. The theoretical part discusses the basic ideas of the theory of translation by Jiří Levý from the second half of the 20th century and other Czech and Slovak theoreticians. Also presents the basic concepts for the translation process and determines the classification criteria for the empirical part, and also the expected results. The practical part presents the working procedure for the investigation, the structure of chapters and the analysis of the novels used by the translation methods and approaches. Selected novels are mentioned chronologically according to the date of the original release: Mór Jókai: A kőszívű ember fiai, Mór Jókai: Fekete gyémántok, Kálmán Mikszáth: Beszterce ostroma, Ferenc Molnár: A Pál utcai fiúk, Sándor Márai: Csutora. For the applied methods examples are listed from separate translations. These examples are to represent differences in the methods for a specific period.
