Mobile App for Shooting New Photos of Ancient Postcards

The aim of this thesis is to create a mobile application which allows to capture actual photographs of ancient postcards. Application is implemented for Android operation system. Theoretical foundations about problematics of repeat photography and used technologies are described in this thesis. Practical part of this thesis describes design, implementation and testing of the application. Xamarin integrated development environment which is based on programming language C# was utilized for practical part of thesis. Final application allows user to capture the most accurate photography corresponding to historical postcard.

Analyze existing solutions, create list of features and simple graphical user interface. It also includes a design of API structure to communicate with the mobile application. Essential application requirements include adding photos on a map and combining different photos in a photo editor with enhanced auto-alignment features.

The Historical Photograph as Historical Source of 19th Century

On the basis of our knowledge and individual skills we can use photograph of the 19th century as historical source to improve understanding about this historical period. Target of this thesis is to prove a connection between legends of photos in family album and family history. Choosen methods of this thesis are method of the sond, comparision method and method of a reading of photograph. Each of album was evaluated based on predefined standards and the results are that family album in aristocracy family were used as a communication and information medium from which we can get much information related to this social class in second half of the 19th century.
