Fotografie 19. století, jako historický pramen, představují zdroj informací, ze kterých můžeme v rámci svých odborných znalostí a individuálních schopností čerpat a využít je pro rozšíření vědomostí o době, kterou reprezentují. Na konkrétním příkladu fotografických alb rodinného archivu Chotků bylo cílem práce prokázat možnost nalezení genealogických a sociálních souvislostí mezi fotografiemi s popisy pod rámečky fotografií a rodinnou historií autora sbírky fotografií v albu. Pro toto zadání byla zvolena metoda sondy (pro výběr rodinného archivu), metoda komparativní (pro identifikaci osob na neoznačených fotografiích) a metoda čtení fotografií (pro rozšíření možnosti získání informací z fotografií). Na základě kritiky a interpretace byla jednotlivá alba vyhodnocena podle předem určených kriterií a závěrem je možné konstatovat, že rodinná alba byla v aristokratických rodinách komunikačním a informačním prostředkem, ze kterého je možné získat množství informací o této sociální vrstvě společnosti. On the basis of our knowledge and individual skills we can use photograph of the 19th century as historical source to improve understanding about this historical period. Target of this thesis is to prove a connection between legends of photos in family album and family history. Choosen methods of this thesis are method of the sond, comparision method and method of a reading of photograph. Each of album was evaluated based on predefined standards and the results are that family album in aristocracy family were used as a communication and information medium from which we can get much information related to this social class in second half of the 19th century.
