A new building on Kraví hora in Brno
Kabeláčová, Anna ; Kristek, Jan (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the use of the potential and possibilities of the Centre of Medicinal Plants at Kraví hora in Brno through the operation of an experimental scientific centre. The building is designed to expand the scope and significance of the centre within its current activities with ways of sensitive use of the garden by the public. The basis of the design is research on the effect of colours on plant growth, which also reflects their effect on humans. The function of the science centre is complemented by the operation of garden therapy on the site. Colours have become the link between scientific purpose and psychological effect on humans. A linear object along the boundary of the site responds to the problems associated with the cultivation of plants and also serves to raise public awareness of the existence of this garden.

The topic of the bachelor thesis is inclusive architecture. The aim of the thesis is the design of the dormitory and reconstruction of the Gemini High School in the Lesná housing estate in Brno, together with the reconstruction of the school's surroundings. The high school plans to increase its current capacity and aims for inclusive education, which is reflected in the new design. The current conditions are already inadequate. In the past, the school management was constrained by the available options and adopted a building with a kindergarten layout together with a garden. As a result, the school operates on a limited footprint or in cramped quarters. The aim is to provide quality education for all without distinction. An education that will be combined with a pleasant stay for the students, in the airy spaces in the school or the school garden, or in the new boarding building. The proposal includes a sustainable design approach to ensure that the investor incurs fewer costs associated with operating a building that functions as an educational institution.
A NEW SPACE FOR LIFE - KROMĚŘÍŽ - LUTOPECKÁ
Sajková, Viktória ; Urbášková, Hana (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
Housing nowadays represents a real challenge and life change for many. It is a time when an individual is going through an important stage in their lives when they have to become independent and start to forge their own path. At the same time, however, this personal growth is is faced with the reality of rising housing prices, which makes the process of finding a new home even more challenging. Finding suitable housing that that meets at least the basic requirements becomes a real challenge that can affect the overall quality of an individual's life. In addition to individuals who are trying to become independent and start a new life, there is also a group of people who are not satisfied with their current living situation. For them, housing is more than just a place to live. They are looking for a space where they can live their everyday experiences and where they where they feel truly at home. These individuals desire a place where they will feel a sense of belonging and well-being, where they will be able to freely express their individuality and develop their interests. For them, housing is an important part of their lives, affecting not only their physical emotional and psychological well-being. Today, when the city offers a wealth of options and opportunities, it is important that housing is more than just a functional space to sleeping. It is where we are born, grow and create our most precious memories. That's why it's important for housing to be a place, that inspires, drives and encourages us to develop personally and live happily. The aim of this project is to create affordable urban housing for everyone in Kroměříž, with a focus on people and their lives needs. The proposed concept focuses on housing, but also provides amenities for the leisure time of the residents. Project includes 6 apartment buildings, two of which are equipped with polyfunction. Each of the houses is unique, differing in appearance and materials used in their construction. Some have balconies or terraces, others do not, and each is designed to respond to classical shapes of the surrounding buildings, but with a modern twist. They are set in a green area, complemented by a square and a park with water features, which creates a pleasant and functional urban environment for all residents.

The final work responds to the global warming trend in the form of a park zone with edible vegetation. This serves as a food source for the residents and also supports the species biodiversity near the city centre. The design makes use of natural resources and creates an efficient rainwater harvesting system from the adjacent area surrounding the site. The heart of the site becomes the former football stadium building, which is used as a community garden and for educational purposes in conjunction with agriculture and nature.
In an Apartment in a small town, Mikulov
Solár, Michal ; Kozelský, Tomáš (referee) ; Hora, Jan (advisor)
The concept is based on the historical development of the plot and the city as such. Historically, the area has been defined by self-help and without clearly specified dogmatic guidelines. It is thanks to this that the city is enriched with moments that do not fulfill only the aesthetic or spiritual, but also the functional nature of the city. The moment of surprise and certain visas enriches the interior of the yard as well as the city. At first glance, such annoying spaces have a certain quality, caused by the play of light or the overall concept of space. An important feature of the object is the moment of surprise from the perceived space. The transition from a clearly defined ground floor to the rear, at first glance, irrational courtyard is enhanced by a passage, which also refers to the typical division of the small town house. ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTION The principle of layering of individual spaces clearly reflects the moments of surprise. By specific fragmentation of the building, a character that resembles rather a family house as a residential object, spaces of different quality and utilization are created. The lower dwellings have a spatially and optically separated garden from the total mass, with the top terrace being terraces which are optically linked to the courtyard, but are not accessible to the public. The apartments in the attic have mostly urban character. This creates the principle of co-existence, which is typical of the whole area of the city. The layering is evident in the distribution of flats with different connections to gardens and terraces as well as the variety of housing units. The spirit of the place is a standing cellar that reflects the historical transformation of the parcel and is a symbol of the locality.
Revitalization Program of Floral Garden in Kromeriz

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the design of the revitalization of the foreground of the Květná garden in Kroměříž and of the service building for visitors. When solving the project, the first ideas were initiated by its strong social context. The garden art has always been a reflection of its own period. The founders of gardens – the aristocracy, monarchs or clergy – have used gardens as a means to represent their social status. They have tried to point out the things that have been conceived as artistically and technically (and later socially) progressive and correct. The main ideal concept of my project results from these facts and considerations. I seek to represent today’s era and society – within the meaning of the good, what they could and according to my opinion should bring to each other. And what they perhaps do… That is why I apply knowledge of today’s technique and ecology in my project – in terms of the use of local natural materials and renewable energy resources. At the same time I try to take advantage of and to give support to the frankness of today’s society and to create a project with a social and human overlap. I incorporate a function of a temporary sheltered housing into the area and support integration of people into the society through garden works and therapies. Last but not least – I would like to open the gardens to the broadest scope of the laic public and to create not only an esthetic function, but an educational as well. From the architectural point of view, I tried to bring contemporary components into the garden, which, however, respect the historical evolution and the temporary situation and connect to them. In the Holandská garden I placed the visitors centre into the ground plan – a path of the former “casino”. It closes up this lengthwise space, it creates a notion of continuance of the colonnade of the Květná garden (and transcription of the arcade on its façade), and it balances the dimension of the tropical glasshouse on the other side of the garden. Regarding the solution of the garden space, I respect the cross axes of the Květná garden as well as the main longitudinal axe of the foreground. I create a simple composition of larger sheets with two new “piazzas” – at the place of the renewed Neptune’s fountain and in front of the visitor’s center. By creating the elevated sheets I add the third dimension to the parcel. In the southern part of the foreground I compose functionally different spaces along the longitudinal axe. Hence, visitor’s attention is non-violently drawn to the aviary. Crosswise, the garden is divided into several parts – the representational one (by the cold glasshouse), the agricultural and educational one (but no less attractive) with the garden centre, and the leisure area of the aviary and the so called “rabbit hill”.
