The Czech Republic and Qatar: analysis of gas market relations through the lens of the Czech Republic's efforts to increase its energy security
Klíma, Eduard ; Holubcová, Jitka (advisor) ; Prášil, Matěj (referee)
The energy crisis in 2022 highlighted the weaknesses of the European energy market and forced the leaders of individual Member States to get rid of their high dependence on Russian gas. The paper analyses the potential for cooperation between the Czech Republic and Qatar in the field of liquefied natural gas supply in the light of interrupted natural gas supplies from Russia. The aim of the thesis is to answer the question whether there is a potential for cooperation between the two countries in the medium term in the field of natural gas supply in order to increase the energy security of the Czech Republic, and at the same time it presents the hypothesis that a political consensus between the two countries would have a positive impact on the energy security of the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the concept of energy security, the situation on the energy market before and after the beginning of the war in Ukraine, and the organisation of the European, Czech and Qatari natural gas markets. The practical part includes the analysis of four semi-structured interviews with representatives of the private and state sector of the gas industry. Respondents answered pre- selected statements in the interviews and their answers were analysed using coding and a proprietary...
Liquefaction of gaseous fuels and their storage by means of renewable energy resources
Cuřín, Martin ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Klimeš, Lubomír (advisor)
The liquefaction of gaseous fuels using renewable energy sources is a promising method for the efficient transportation and utilization of these fuels. This thesis primarily addresses the issues related to the liquefaction of natural gas, from its conditioning, liquefaction, to its storage and transportation. The economic balance evaluates three proposed scenarios for the transportation of natural gas to the Czech Republic. Additionally, the economic viability of using renewable energy sources for the liquefaction of natural gas is analysed. The aim of the thesis was to provide a basic overview of current liquefaction tech- nologies and to analyse the use of renewable energy in the process of liquefaction and seasonal storage of natural gas. The results indicate that the use of renewable sources for liquefaction can be economically advantageous and beneficial in the sustainability of the energy sector.
Assessment of the change in the fuel base of the Počerady combi cycle power plant
Krakovský, Matej ; Lisý, Martin (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
Combined cycle is a thermal cycle, that is used in thermal power plants mainly because of its high efficiency – combination of a gas turbine and a steam turbine, where we use the waste heat from the gas turbine in the steam cycle. The aim of this thesis was the determination of parameters in case of fuel exchange, that means mixing hydrogen into natural gas. Calculation model was related to the specific power plant – combined cycle in Počerady. The thesis is completed with the theoretical description of fuels and the description of individual thermal cycles. One chapter is also dedicated to details of the powerplant in Počerady.
UTILIZATION OF BIOGAS IN TRANSPORT
Štylárek, Milan ; Zháňal, Lubor (referee) ; Vopařil, Jan (advisor)
Objective of this bachelor thesis is evaluating the possibility of utilization of biogas as an alternative fuel for combustion engines in traffic. Production and distribution of upgraded biogas is described as well as situation of its utilization in the world. This is followed by a comparison of situation in biomethan utilization in Czech republic and Sweden. There are explained barriers to commercial placing and its possible eliminating. In the end the model study of replacement of farm vehicle fleet for CNG vehicles is described.
Gas steam boiler design
Vacek, Jiří ; Bursa, Robert (referee) ; Skála, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is a draft of a gas steam boiler with steam output of 200 t/h. The first part of the paper provides stoichiometric calculations, then there are calculations of the dew point, boiler efficiency and the amount of gas. After that, calculations and a draft of the combustion chamber are carried out and then heat balances are drafted. In the following text, geometric properties of individual heat exchanging surfaces are drafted. At the end, there are control calculations. This thesis contains a blueprint of the gas steam boiler.
Natural gas
Trávníček, Zdeněk ; Moskalík, Jiří (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to collect facts about natural gas, focusing mainly on the situation in the Czech Republic. Firstly, the thesis discusses the natural gas in general - its properties, world resources, ways of production and usage. The main part of the thesis deals with supply and accumulation of natural gas in the Czech Republic. Secondly, enumeration and brief description of possibilities of natural gas substitution is presented. Finally, comparison of usage of classic non-condensing and condensing boiler for a family house heating is introduced. Recommendation of boiler type based on the model example is included as well.
Hotwater boiler for natural gas,60 MW, 1,6 MPa, 150/70°C
Gardavský, Jan ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is design a hotwater boiler for burning natural gas with an output of 60 MW. Boiler works with temperature difference 150 °C / 70 °C. For a given fuel is calculated stoichiometric calculation. The following is the calculation of the heat balance of the boiler including the determinativ of thermal efficiency. The fuel used, the required parameters of hot water and feed water temperature are designed individual convective surfaces and dimensions of the boiler. The boiler design includes drawings.
A fuel cell, as an alternative source of electricity
Peterka, Lubomír ; Chroboczek, Libor (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The work deals with fuel-cell their activities and the principle of division. It presented the possibility of using natural gas as a fuel for fuel cells. At the end of the work are written main advantages and disadvantages compared with other sources of electricity.
A proposal of power plant with steam engine.
Peterka, Lubomír ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
The final thesis deals with the heating plant with piston steam engine design according to heat consumption background in the location of Velky Karlov and with the design of a heating scheme including its explicit parameters. Further on it deals with the possibilities of the heating plant output regulation and with the solution of natural gas and biomass heating plant operations aside the heating period.
