Genre preferences of pupils according to gender

The thesis deals with the genre preferences of pupils according to gender. In terms of form, it is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the characteristics of pupils of younger school age about the topic of the thesis, reader, and reading. The theoretical part is also devoted to genres of children's literature, contemporary children's literature, and its appreciation. Finally, the theoretical section focuses on research on reading, including gender, genre preferences, and socioeconomic status. The research part of the thesis contains a description of action research conducted in classes 2 to 5 in two primary schools to determine students' genre preferences I used stimulating activities, which included book dominoes or also sharing reading records observations and a questionnaire survey on reading to investigate pupils' genre preferences. The research shows that the most preferred genre is prose with a child protagonist. This genre would be followed by adventure books, encyclopedias, and books about science. Love books and travelogues emerged were the least popular genres. Gender preferences were only reflected for several genres. Mediating the topic of specific learning and behavior disorders through literature for younger school-aged children

The thesis deals with the issue of conveying the topic of specific learning and behavioural disorders to pupils at school through literature for children of younger school age. It deals with the description of specific learning and behavioural disorders, especially in relation to the school environment, and the characteristics of selected titles of contemporary literature for children and young people, focused on the topic of specific learning and behavioural disorders. The aim of this paper is to design lessons with books that would introduce students to these topics, to carry out the implementation of these lessons in a selected second year primary school and to evaluate their impact on students' understanding of the subject. All lessons are based on the three-phase model of learning and the methods RWCT recommended for working with books. According to the timetable, the lessons are taught in five weeks. Book as part of leisure activities in the after-school club

This bachelor thesis concerns book reading as part of leisure activities in after-school care. The goal of it is to outline the infrastructure of family reading through interviews with after-school care students and to also suggest reading related activities - recitals, discussions, opinion sharing etc. around the selected book of Miloš Kratochvíl - Puntíčkáři. These activities were completed by the creation of lapbook. They were not only conducted but also their efficiency was reflected through observations, afore-mentioned interviews and an analysis of the students' creations. The theoretical portion of this thesis presents after-school care in its historical and contemporary context as well as it shows its functions and goals. Concepts such as reading and reading literacy, personal development, communication skills, free time, leisure time education and reading strategies for children and youth, are introduced here. In the practical portion, reading strategies were applied when working with the book Puntíkáři by Miloš Kratochvíl. One of the stories from the book is also accompanied by lapbook. Phrases in children's literature

The bachelor thesis examines the relationship between phraseology and children's literature. The main aim of this thesis is to show how phrases enrich literary texts and support the linguistic and emotional development of young readers. The thesis is structured in two main parts. The theoretical part begins with an overview of lexicology basics, continues with definitions of key concepts of phraseology and its history, and concludes with a discussion of children's literature, illuminating various aspects of its development and specifics. The practical part focuses on the analysis of phrases in six selected works for children and young people, and then illustrates how the occurrence and use of phrases evolves and adapts depending on the age of the text and the age of the addressees.

The work focuses on the main characters in Boyn's novels for young people, through which important themes are explored and significant questions are raised that influence not only the youth but also society. The work examines the content and interpretations of these novels, considering various literary aspects of the works. In detail, the work focuses on literary characters and their characterization, exploring the main protagonists. The author identifies the didactic potential, main themes, and their contribution to youth in the selected novels. The didactic part includes six lessons for the second stage of elementary school, which can be adapted in various ways. The lessons apply the E-U-R teaching model, tandem teaching, and various RWCT (Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking) methods suitable for developing reading literacy. Various teaching organizational forms and reading note-taking methods are used. The lessons are crucial for the work as the author aims to demonstrate the didactic potential of Boyn's novels for youth, in which pupils can find significant themes. Ancient Mythology in the Trilogy Starcrossed of Josephina Angelini

This Bachelor thesis focuses on analysis of Ancient Mythology in the Starcrossed Trilogy of Josephina Angelini. The inspiration by ancient Greek mythology is evident throughout the series, as it's practically a transposition of the Trojan War into 21st century context. The characters are reincarnated mythical heroes of the Trojan War. The thesis contains a section dedicated to ancient Greek myths in general. The main goal of the thesis is to encapsulate all similarities, differences and elements received from the ancient Greek originals. The author accentuates the need for glossaries added into works with ancient Greek themes, since a reader who is not familiar with these might be rather confused by their adaptation in a completely different storyline. To achieve the abovementioned goal, the thesis provides literary-scientific context, definitions of key concepts, analysis of the narrator, composition, time space etc. Chapters containing transcribed interviews with book influencers provide readers' reception of the Starcrossed series on Czech literary scene and abroad.
