Scots pine climate-growth response in the topographically complex landscape of the Kokořínsko region

The extensive Scots pine Pinus sylvestris forests in topographically complex landscape of the Kokořínsko region in the Czech Republic are a suitable area for investigating how trees react differently to climate factors depending on local site conditions. Individual habitats are characterized by specific conditions which can influence a wide range of growth factors. It is therefore important to understand these differences also from the point of view of ongoing climate change, which threats forest ecosystems in central Europe. The relatively dry environment of the highly permeable sandstone landscape is vulnerable to increasing drought, which will increase the stress of local Scots pine population. Samples from 20 sites divided into 4 categories of northern slopes, southern slopes, plateaus and valley bottoms are supposed to sufficiently represent variability of the local terrain. Correlation of tree-ring chronologies with climate variables as well as PCA analysis revealed that the greatest differences are between plateaus and valley bottoms. In case of highly exposed plateaus, drought seems to be the most important limiting factor, whereas at the valley bottoms temperatures at the turn of winter and spring are the main controlling factor. Project of Educational cycle trail in protected landscape area in Kokořínsko

Title A Project of Educational Bicycle Trail in Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area. Objective The aim of this work is to create a project of Educational bicycle trail in Protected Landscape Area (PLA) Kokořínsko, create an information brochure, which could be distributed to tourist information centres in the region. Methods The discussion with employees of Kokořínsko PLA and collection of information on existing bicycle trails, bicycle tracks, educational trails, natural and cultural assets in the area. Classification and verification of collected data. Using the information obtained for creating an Educationl bicycle trail. Presenting a summary in an information brochure. Assessment of the project via questionaires. Results The result of this work is a proposal of two educational cycle trails with possible combinations in Kokořínsko in form of an information brochure. The brochure includes educational texts connected to the areas on the trail, photographs and maps. Metacommunities of the copepods, molluscs and ostracods in Kokořínsko pools on the longterm gradient

Re-creation and building new small freshwater habitats belong among the important management activities within the Protected Landscape Area Kokořínsko - Máchův kraj (Czech Republic) for almost two decades. These pools keep the water within the landscape and serve as the habitats for vulnerable species of amphibians and invertebrates, which I have studied within this thesis. Most studies focusing on studying metacommunities of small water bodies have been based on the data from one or two seasons, and thus completely neglect the development of composition of these metacommunities over longer periods of time. This thesis builds on previous research on the species composition of small ponds in the Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area, which had been done in 2005 and 2006. In 2009 and 2017, sampling in the same ponds continued. I investigated the influence of spatial and environmental variables of individual ponds on the species composition of ostracods, copepods and molluscs in specific years and how has the representation of individual species changed among those years. With one exception, I have not observed any new incoming species of copepods and ostracods since 2006; the number of species had in fact decreased. Sustainable tourism development in the chosen destination - Protected Landscape Area Kokořínsko

This thesis is concerned with the sustainable tourism development in the Protected Landscape Area Kokořínsko. The aim is to evaluate current state of sustainable tourism in this area and outline the perspectives of its further development. The theoretical part is dedicated to the definition of the concept of sustainable development and its application to the tourism in protected areas. The beggining of the practical part describes the Protected Landscape Area Kokořínsko. The practical part is also concerned with the organization of tourism and an analysis of offer of environmentally friendly forms of tourism. The thesis is completed with an overall evaluation based on the SWOT analysis, chosen indicators of sustainable tourism development and a questionnaire survey among tourists, residents, entrepreneurs in the tourism industry and municipalities in the region of the Protected Landscape Area Kokořínsko.
