Rozsáhlé porosty borovice lesní Pinus sylvestris na topograficky členitém území Kokořínska představují ideální prostor ke studiu, jak rozdílně reagují stromy na klimatické proměnné v závislosti na stanovišti. Každé stanoviště se vyznačuje specifickými vlastnostmi, které ovlivňují širokou škálu růstových faktorů. Je tedy důležité tyto rozdíly pochopit i z hlediska probíhajících klimatických změn, které ohrožují lesní ekosystémy i v rámci střední Evropy. Relativně suché prostředí silně propustného pískovcového území je ohroženo zvyšujícím se suchem, které může stresovat tamní populace borovice lesní. Vzorky z 20 ploch rozdělené do 4 kategorií na severní svahy, jižní svahy, plošiny a údolní dna by měly dostatečně pokrýt variabilitu zdejší členité krajiny. Korelace s klimatickými proměnnými stejně jako PCA analýza naznačuje, že největší rozdíly mezi růstem borovic jsou mezi plošinami a údolími, přičemž se jako hlavní limit růstu ukazují obecně sušší podmínky na exponovaných skalních plošinách, zatímco údolí vykazují největší závislost na teplotách na přelomu zimy a jara. Významnější rozdíly mezi severními a jižními svahy zaznamenány nebyly. Budoucí vývoj borovic na stanovištích citlivých na sucho je tak ohrožen v souvislosti s očekávaným častějším výskytem vln sucha, zatímco teplotní limity v údolích... The extensive Scots pine Pinus sylvestris forests in topographically complex landscape of the Kokořínsko region in the Czech Republic are a suitable area for investigating how trees react differently to climate factors depending on local site conditions. Individual habitats are characterized by specific conditions which can influence a wide range of growth factors. It is therefore important to understand these differences also from the point of view of ongoing climate change, which threats forest ecosystems in central Europe. The relatively dry environment of the highly permeable sandstone landscape is vulnerable to increasing drought, which will increase the stress of local Scots pine population. Samples from 20 sites divided into 4 categories of northern slopes, southern slopes, plateaus and valley bottoms are supposed to sufficiently represent variability of the local terrain. Correlation of tree-ring chronologies with climate variables as well as PCA analysis revealed that the greatest differences are between plateaus and valley bottoms. In case of highly exposed plateaus, drought seems to be the most important limiting factor, whereas at the valley bottoms temperatures at the turn of winter and spring are the main controlling factor.
