Geographic information systems
Bílek, Ondřej ; Říha, Kamil (referee) ; Uchytil, Stanislav (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on the problematic of geographical information systems, analysis of the commercial as well as freeware software tools for GIS, analysis of vector and raster representation of geographical data and basic methods for data representation in GIS. The another important part of this thesis is the design of web application, that can be used as a tool for visualization of bussiness data from commercial company, in compare with data owned by Czech Statistical Office. This aplication is built on free platform Google Maps API V3.
Electricity blackout study with regard to the nuclear power plant Dukovany
Žák, Jiří ; Fejta, Libor (referee) ; Radil, Lukáš (advisor)
The entire diploma thesis analyses causes, consequences and repercussions of an electricity grid network blackout and its impact to the respective consumers. Remarkable blackouts recorded since 1965 are briefly described and basic available information is considered. The grid standard fixing measures and electricity delivery priorities are characterized. The thesis also pays attention to entire Czech Republic grid availability and its blackout endurance as well as to its robustness within last several years. Indirect Fukushima event influence to the Czech Republic electricity system is mentioned. The main part of the thesis comprises of four big European grid blackouts causes and consequences, their comparison to each other and to the Dukovany nuclear power plant grid blackout drill scenario. The preventive and standard corrective measures against blackouts are pointed out.
TRANSFORMATION OF BRONX IN BRNO
Najvarová, Lucie ; Karasová, Miroslava (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
The strategy reacts to social exclusion of inhabitants of the Cejl district. It supports employment and intends to build a dynamic public space, that is missing in the area. Social urbanism focuses on the interaction of inhabitants between each other and with the spaces, and creates conditions for new workplaces. The massive broken block gets the order. The park defines a system for future development and opens up new possibilities of usage. Thanks to its low cost construction, the park can work immediately. The order created by the park allows the future objects to emerge freely and spontaneously. The design is not definitive, but it works in every phase or combination.
City Library, Lausanne
Turčan, Andrej ; Křikavová, Iva (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Project for the new houses of city library and mediatheque, solves the concept of redesigning the old industry area Sevelin in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland. Here should the new social and education district takes place, what brings a new metropolitan lifestyle. Two objects of library and mediatheque end up the rows of rational city grid at this platform. They define the new open space in between as a new entrance area on the platform Sevelin. It becomes also the extension of library activities to the urban space. Here also the new metro station takes place. Concept of the library – “house in house, city in the city” creates the group of three volumes situated under one roof. The houses of adults’ library, youth library and administration define two atriums in between. Here the life of the whole building meets together. Volume of mediatheque steps up the row and shows the new direction of our culture and media.

In the second study, the greatest weight is given to aesthetics and architectural design. The third situation is conceived as a compromise between reasonable price and architectural design. In all cases, a study situational architectural drawings. According to the multi-criteria analysis was GRID option is selected as the most suitable and also for the calculation is carried parking and parking places, vertical solutions and a distinctive cross sections.
High resolution computed tomography - its role and position in radiodiagnostics
CHYLÍKOVÁ, Renáta
In the introduction to my bachelor´s thesis, I have described the historical background of HRCT, its origins, and evolution. The historical part includes information about the development of CT equipment and the principles of diagnostics using the instruments that preceded HRCT. In the following part, I have described the principle of how HRCT works and the conditions that are needed for HRCT examination. I focused on lung examination and partly also on the examination of temporal bone. The objective of my thesis is to determine the frequency of CT and HRCT application, for the purposes of which I compared two leasing hospitals in the South Bohemian region. I issued from the hypothesis of a higher frequency of HRCT use. In my bachelor´s work I used foreign literature and sources and also the method of comparing data from two hospitals. The preferred method was the quantitative one, used for numerical statistics in the theoretical part; for the practical part I used the mentioned comparison of the number of examinations performed at two hospitals in South Bohemia. When confronting the two hospitals, a significantly higher frequency of HRCT use was found in Nemocnice Tábor a.s. This fact is explained by the use of Aquilion 16, which is a lower ? quality appliance, and Aquilion 64 in České Budějovice, as well as by the monitoring of patients with fibrosing processes (so ? called cordarone lung, etc.), and patients with unclear small lesions appearing on summing images when only HRCT examination was performed. HRCT is also performed as a part of routine examination of the lungs and mediastinum if the indication requires it, while check ? up examinations run only under the HRCT algorithm. In conclusion it can be stated that the difference between the examinations in hospital České Budějovice a.s. and Nemocnice Tábor a.s. is based on the difference between their equipment and also the slightly different approach to small lesions in the pulmonary parenchyma. The hypothesis that the HRCT examination is used more frequently than the common CT examination of the lungs and mediastinum was not confirmed, which results from the fact that the number od patients needing the examination of just small or larger changes in the pulmonary parenchyma is substantially lower than the number of patients with indicated classical examination of the lungs and mediastinum.
Java Grid Computing or how to find large primes
PAPEŽ, Petr
This Bachelor work contains methods of searching for Mersenne primes using Grid Computing technology. The goal of this work is to implement a network-based computing framework and an implementation of an algorithm for searching for large Mersenne primes. Part of this work is a theory of searching for Mersenne primes and historical methods of searching for such numbers, GIMPS project description and its results, Grid Computing technology explanation, and Grid Computing capabilities of Mathematica 7 software for searching for Mersenne primes.
