Non-ideal development of the hip joint as a forming factor of idiopathic scoliosis
Fišerová, Eva ; Šafářová, Marcela (advisor) ; Ujcová, Lucie (referee)
The thesis deals with connections between non-ideal development of the hip joint and origin of idiopathic scoliosis. The thesis warn that asymmetry in neuromotor ontogenesis is a risk factor for development of scoliosis. There is also summary of abnormalities in hip joints which are connected with idiopatic scoliosis. In experimental part of the work it has been confirmed that patient with idiopathic scoliosis have leftright asymmetry of the range of movement in hip joints. This asymmetries are discussed in the context of both the etiopathogenezis and the effect of spinal deformity. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Evaluation of head position - children with idiopathic scoliosis
Dvořáčková, Štěpánka ; Kučerová, Klára (advisor) ; Šafářová, Marcela (referee)
Idiopathic scolios (IS) is one of the most common structural spinal deformities. Patients with idiopathic scoliosis have altered posture due to scoliosis. The aim od the study was to evaluate the position of the head in children with IS and to compare the results with a control group of healthy children. The position of the head was evaluated by the method of kinematic analysis from digital photographs, where we compared the coronal head tilt and the coronal shoulder angle between the two groups. Furthermore, the measurement of the subjective visual vertical was pearformed using Bucekt metod. Both of these measurements were performed in 10 children with IS (age 12,2 ± 2,4, mean ± SD; Cobb angle 14,9˚ ± 8,8˚ SD) and the group od 10 healthy children (age 13,9 ± 2,5). Based on these measurements, we evaluated three hypotheses. We came to the conclusion that both groups have comparable average deviations from the central position of the head and shoulders, but in the group with IS there was higher variance of values. In the group with IS, in seven patients the sides of the SVV tilt and the head tilt do not match.
Capture of the abduction contracture of the hip joint as a biomechanical cause of idiopathic scoliosis
Mařík, Antonín ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Author: Bc. Antonín Mařík Title: Capture of the abduction contracture of the hip joint as a biomechanical cause of idiopathic scoliosis The theme of the thesis is based on lectures and numerous publications by Professor Tomasz Karski, MD, PhD from Lublin, published in international journals (from the 1990s to the present). The work is based on the biomechanical cause of the "so-called idiopathic" scoliosis, the cause of which is considered primarily the restriction of adduction in the right hip joint - so-called an abduction contracture. This contracture is one of the symptoms of "Syndrome of Contracture" according to Prof. Hans Mau (Tübingen, Germany). The years-long prevailing "standing easy" attitude on the right lower limb is a manifestation of the abduction contracture in the right hip joint and the cause of scoliosis in two groups and three types of classification of "biomechanical" scoliosis according to Karski. The main object of the thesis is an objective assessment of the relationship between the abduction contracture of the right hip joint and the idiopathic scoliosis (IS) of the spine in the examined set of probands. Clinical and anthropological examinations were performed in a group of 20 patients with idiopathic scoliosis and 16 control probands, including specialized tests on the...
Postural stability and subjective visual vertical perception in patients with idiopathic scoliosis.
Votrubová, Barbora ; Čakrt, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kučerová, Klára (referee)
Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is characterised as a three-dimensional deformity of the spine with unknown etiopathogenesis. There is evidence that scoliosis may be associated with abnormalities of the vestibular system. Examination of postural stability and verticality perception is a way to assess vestibular function. The objective of this work is to compare postural stability and subjective visual vertical (SVV) between adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis and healthy controls. Twelve AIS patients and twelve controls participated in the study. Examination of postural stability was performed through a Kistler force platform and the SVV was tested using a pre-programmed computed equipment Synapsys. An instrument for evaluating the perception patients have of their trunk deformity, Trunk Appearance Perception Scale (TAPS), was also part of the examination. Our results did not show a significant difference between the two groups in postural stability and static SVV-S. Statistically significant difference was found on dynamic SVV-D with clockwise rotation (p  0,01): AIS patients (1,19ř ± 1,03ř), control group (-0,17ř ± 0,82ř). There was also a significant difference on absolute deviation of dynamic SVV-D with clockwise rotation (p  0,05): AIS patients (1,50ř ± 0,77ř), control group (0,81ř ±...
Evaluation of treatment in scoliosis using software SCODIAC 2.3
Šonská, Kristýna ; Šafářová, Marcela (advisor) ; Dyrhonová, Olga (referee)
Although scoliosis is defined as a deviation of the spine in the frontal plane above 10ř according to Cobb, the spine is deformed in three planes. The chest is also affected at the same time. The most common type is idiopathic scoliosis, which has multifactorial etiopathogenesis. The thesis summarizes available information on kinesiology of the spine, classification of idiopathic scoliosis, its incidence, etiology, diagnostics, treatment and specific physiotherapeutic exercises. The practical part is devoted to assessing the symmetry of the patient's torso from the photographic documentation of the posture by SCODIAC 2.3. Indices evaluating hull asymmetry from the back or front (POTSI, ATSI) result from mathematical calculation. The smaller the number, the more symmetrical the posture. Correlation of POTSI index and Cobb angle is explored. 20 patients (18 girls and 2 boys) with idiopathic scoliosis up to 47ř according to Cobb aged between 7 to 18 years were selected for the study. All patients were subjected to anamnestic data collection, kinesiology analysis and a questionnaire. The results were statistically processed. SCODIAC software is one of the options offered to evaluate torso asymmetry and assess posture changes after therapy. It acts as a feedback for a physiotherapist and motivates...

Possibilities of physiotherapy idiopathic scoliosis in adults
LONGINOVÁ, Michaela
The bachelor thesis focuses on the idiopathic scoliosis of adults. The idiopathic scoliosis is a three-dimensional spinal deformity, which is characterized by a change of position of the vertebra. The etiology of this change is unknown. The condition often arises in childhood and remains in existence till adulthood. The idiopathic scoliosis is not getting worse in adults. However, it causes divergent complications and limitations in daily life. The adult patients often have backache so it is important to not forget about the physiotherapy that can positively influence the progression of the spine. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. Firstly, I describe some anatomical terms, after about like the scoliosis and its division. Then I characterize the term idiopathic scoliosis, its diagnostics, examinations and the therapy, which includes special concepts dealing with this diagnosis. After that, I define the characteristics of the idiopathic scoliosis in adults. In the practical part, there is a research that describes a case history of three patients suffering with the idiopathic scoliosis. Each case history contains information about the anamnesis, a kinesiological examination and characterization of therapies, which were applying for 2 months. The goal of the thesis is to represent ways of physiotherapy applied on adults suffering with the idiopathic scoliosis and to highlight the limitations in their everyday life. I also suggest an exercise focusing on the consequences of adults affected by the disease. The physiotherapists can use this thesis in practice, and it gives information for patients about the condition and its treatment.
Examination of gait in patients whit idiopathic scoliosis. Objectification using treadmill
Švábková, Anna ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Černý, Pavel (referee)
This master thesis concerns gait in patients with idiopathic scoliosis. Idiopathic scoliosis constitutes about 80 % of all scoliosis cases and its adolescent type is the most common form of spine deformity in the child population. The theoretical part outlines existing knowledge on this medical condition and its treatment, focusing on conservative therapy by corrective spinal orthoses. It further describes the physiological stereotype of gait and differences observed in patients with idiopathic scoliosis. It also discusses the effect exerted on bipedal locomotion by corrective spinal orthoses. The aim of the practical part is to examine whether there is a relationship between the severity of the main spinal curvature in subjects with scoliosis and the degree of asymmetry between their lower limbs for selected parameters of gait. Since this part concerns gait both without and with bracing, it can also analyse the impact of corrective spinal orthoses on the degree of the given asymmetries. The selected parameters of gait are ascertained by the method of dynamic plantography using a Zebris FDM- T System device. The research sample consists of 14 subjects (12 girls and 2 boys) between the age of 9 and 17 years with idiopathic scoliosis who receive conservative treatment including bracing. The results...
Possibilities of physical therapy in idiopathic scoliosis for children in middle school age
ZASADILOVÁ, Anežka
This bachelor thesis concern about physioterphy of children in middle school age with diagnosed idiopathic scoliosis. The aim of this work is to compile the exerscises for these patients and at the end in the conclusion evaluate the effectivity. The theoretical part is aimed at describtion of anatomical structures, which are directly affeccted by the idiopathic scoliosis, or which could affect the scoliotic curve after the activation. Further there is a describtion of middle school age, it´s physiological aspects and the influence of this age for cooperation with physiotherapist. Then in the thesis follows the definition of scoliosis, classification of the idiopatic scoliosis by localization, by the severity of the curve deterioration and by age of diagnosing the scoliosis. Furthermore is rewiew of diagnostic methods, which can be used to reveal of scoliosis and a list of therapeutical methods and procedures aimed at the treatment of idiopathic scoliosis. The practical part was processed by the qualitative research. In the first part there is an enlargement of clinical examination of scoliosis, which is afterwards applied to two patients. In the clinical cases is described the examination of the subjects, detail anamnesis, the entering and comclusional kinesiological analysis and the process of therapy. In the conclusion is a proposition of long-term rehabilitative programme.
