Žebrák, Miroslav ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Jakoubek, Jiří (referee)
The thesis focuses mainly on OLAP technology and its tools using to analyze corporate data. One of the objectives is to define the analytical tools market and provide an overview which shows the current situation concerning those tools on Business Intelligence (BI) market. Another objective is to obtain an overview of some current and future trends in the BI market. The main purpose of the thesis is to create a "methodology" for solving an BI analytical tasks using analytical services in SQL Server 2008 R2 from Microsoft. To achieve these objectives a theoretical analysis of available resources and, in particular consultation with employees of Clever Decision company is used. The main contribution of this work is the development of analytical database itself, which is divided into separate phases where each phase contains best practices and recommendations, including examples.
Design and implementation of metrics for campaign management in telecommunications
Rakár, Peter ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Šimáček, Martin (referee)
Diploma thesis is focused on the evaluation of marketing campaigns which are realized in the environment of telecommunication companies. The thesis' main goal is the identification, analysis and design of metrics and dimensions which can be used for evaluation of marketing campaigns benefits, and which can provide feedback in the process of new campaign definition. The solution offered in the thesis provides a tool for more effective and more reliable analysis of marketing campaigns. The analysis of the current evaluation process and a suggestion of the process modification is also part of the proposed solution. The first part of thesis explains the relation between marketing, marketing campaigns and process of campaigns evaluation. The theoretical knowledge necessary in campaign evaluation is examined. The next chapter is focused on the characteristics of the telecommunication company which affect the way how campaigns are evaluated. The introduction of the thesis' practical part identifies the metrics actually used, where the knowledge of employees is imposed. Metrics are analyzed in the third chapter. The output of the analysis is used to design an automatized solution which generates the OLAP cube and reports for campaign evaluation. The functionality and suitability of the solution is verified by the implementation of a pilot solution with an example of reports on model campaign. The thesis' last part is supplemented with an analysis of the current evaluation process in the given telecommunication company, and suggestion of process modifications, there where the designed solution is utilized.
Implementation of BI in car sales and servicing
Gottwald, Karel ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Maryška, Miloš (referee)
Diploma thesis focuses on topic of business performance management realized through Business Intelligence application created on the basis of a balanced set of indicators within the Balanced Scorecard method. The first part introduces the reader with theoretical foundations. First, it describes the basic principles of the BSC method and meaning of dividing strategic objectives into four perspectives. Subsequently, it introduces the heart of BI - a multidimensional approach, displays the BI architecture and defines its components. At the end it compares the types of database systems. There is also a comparison of this thesis with other projects dealing with similar themes in the theoretical part. After the theoretical chapters comes a practical part which aims at design and development of BI applications for a real company so as to comply with the requirements of top managers and the corporate strategy. At the beginning it introduces a firm to which the project is applied. This is an existing organization operating in the area of car sales and services. The corporation is called under a fictitious name "AUTO a.s." in this thesis. In cooperation with its managers the SWOT analysis and strategic objectives is defined. This determines the key requirements for setting up the BI application. An example of a BI solution that allows managers to effectively monitor the development objectives, brings the main benefit of the whole work. For this purpose is built data warehouse, which is then filled with transformed data from source systems using Data Pump. Then, above the Data Warehouse, two OLAP cubes can be created. Presentation layer, created in MS Excel 2007, handles the interpretation of the results to end-users.

Measuring operation processes of IS for petrol stations
Šebelík, Jan ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Ďásek, Pavel (referee)
The thesis concerns with measurement of processes of support and maintenance of a specialized information system for petrol stations. It is a system for support of retail sale of fuel and other non-fuel goods. As the main objective of the thesis was selected design of set of metrics for measurement of these processes based on multidimensionality principle. It means that dimensions and indicators are designed separately and a set of recommended metrics is based on their combinations. It is possible to get additional metrics using other combinations. The theoretical basis of the thesis is the ITIL library -- which is an internationally respected standard for IT service management -- and metrics designed in other literature and diploma theses. The designed metrics are adapted for the analyzed environment and service information system, however, they should be usable in other environments as well. Selected metrics were implemented to the service information system and measured in a relatively wide sample of input data. This allowed evaluating usability of the metrics and comparison of the threshold values with the measured ones. The relationship of metrics and service agreements (SLAs) is described in the end of the thesis. Specific metrics suitable to be incorporated to SLA were designed including a real-life example.
