Geopolitical impact of China's search for energy on the Indian Ocean and South China Sea

This thesis examines the geopolitical consequences of China's search for energy resources on the Indian Ocean and South China Sea. It provides a brief outline of the energy situation of the world as a whole, specifically how it is becoming a more globalized and singular market. This change is occurring at the same time as a pronounced shift away from the traditional measurements of 'power' towards 'softer' more subtle definitions. There is a brief section outlining the geopolitical teachings of Alfred T. Mahan, specifically how he advocated seapower primarily for the purpose of providing the stability and security necessary for trade. Chinese analysts have been embracing the teachings of Mahan, but also interpreting them in a way that justifies the naval buildup Beijing has been embarking on in recent years. The paper briefly looks at the potential sources that China could turn to meet its energy needs, but concludes that it will have to rely on oil for the foreseeable future. It then attempts to define overall Chinese interests, specifically how nearly all of these relate somehow to energy security, thus underlining the importance of this topic to leaders in Beijing. Orthodoxy in Australia, Oceania and Antarctica

Diploma thesis "Orthodoxy in Australia, Oceania and Antarctica" deals with the history, evolution and current state of religious structures of Eastern christian churches in Australia, Oceania and Antarctica. Each part of the investigated area has been analyzed in terms of the ethnic or. ecclesiological diaspora, its organizational capture (formation of the first parishes, dioceses, monasteries, schools and charitable organizations etc.) and on their current status (size and functionality of the existing church structure). Following the various jurisdictions and churches are described. A fundamental consideration is given to the canonical Orthodox Churches, then to the Orthodox Churches with less problematic canonical status, but there are also other Eastern Christian churches mentioned. Within the area the eminent figures of church life are closer described. This descriptive material is supplemented by interviews and journalistic texts, which further analyze situation of churches in the region and their various problems. It is also accompanied by photographic material. The thesis tries to describe ecclesiological tensions between the diaspora and mission, the diversity of ethnic and religious minorities and differences in their assimilation in the new religious, social and culture environment.
The Selected Legal Aspects of Foreign Investment in Australia

in English The purpose of this master's thesis is to introduce a reader into some legal aspects of foreign investment in Australia. And especially those which can be crucial for a foreign investor when contemplating about investing in Australia. The thesis is divided into 6 chapters. The first chapter introduces the topic of foreign investment and the thesis itself. The second chapter familiarizes with the key terms in international investment law, namely, investor (both a natural and legal person) and investment (in economic and legal sense). The third chapter describes the legal framework governing foreign investment in Australia. It provides an overview of domestic and also international legislation. The fourth chapter then deals with admission and establishment of investment in Australia. It covers how this issue is regulated in investment treaties and in domestic legislation, where the most important piece of legislation is Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Act. Further, this chapter describes the concept of foreign person and the national interest test. This diploma thesis discusses inbound tourism of Australians to the Czech Republic and weighs its future potential. The theoretical part contains a situation analysis with a brief characterization of inbound tourism of the Czech Republic, marketing activities of the Czech Republic as a tourist destination and a thorough socioeconomic characterization of Australia and its outbound tourism. Furthermore, this paper evaluates what the Czech tourist destinations have to offer to the Australian market. The practical part covers the outcome of the primary survey of Australians´ travelling consumer behaviour and their perception of the Czech Republic.

Financing higher education in Slovak republic and Australia

Year by year there is a growing importance of tertiary education, as high quality university system and high percentage of population with tertiary education represent the basic prerequisite for the development of the country. This bachelor thesis compares two completely different systems of financing tertiary education in Australia and Slovak republic. Slovak education system is financed by public sector subsidies in comparison to Australian education system which is based on deferred payment of tuition fees. The special focus is on advantages and disadvantages of successful financing of tertiary education in Australia. The main goal is to provide suitable recommendations for implementation of advantageous features of higher education financing in Australia for Slovak republic. The key advantages are considered to be: reducing the burden on public budgets with higher focus on private sector, better education quality and reducing the deliberate prolongation of study stay. Implementation of some features from Australia in Slovakia could mean high administrative costs and it requires proper understanding of current economic situation in Slovakia. Helping tools for successful university reform consist of optimization of university tuition fees and decreased amount of field of studies, which require paying university tuition fees.

Comparison of e-commerce in Slovakia and Australia

This diploma thesis provides insight into the current status of Slovakian and Australian electronic commerce markets and differences between them. The main objective is to evaluate the level of development of e-commerce in Slovakia. For evaluation of the situation, we use comparison with Australia. Partial objective is to provide full picture of the e-commerce in Slovakia and its competitiveness, to describe opportunities and to point out the prospects for future development, as well as weaknesses and shortcomings in this area. The work is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is theoretical, defines the concepts of e-commerce, its history, subjects and applications. In the second chapter, which is already analytical, we select and evaluate differences between those two countries in the areas that determinate the growth of e-commerce in the country. The last chapter analyzes and evaluates the state of electronic commerce particularly from the perspective of businesses and especially from the perspective of companies.
