This bachelor thesis is aimed at physical activities in chemistry education. Theoretical part of this thesis is focused on the motivation of pupils and teaching methods, especially on the educational game as one of the activation teaching methods. Practical part of this thesis contains analysis of materials containing physical activities for chemistry education. This thesis also includes instructions of some new chemistry physical activities. These activities are usable in chemistry education at primary and secondary school.
Scientific literacy and its development by using learning tasks in Chemistry for ISCED 2 level
Distler, Petr ; Teplý, Pavel (advisor) ; Klečková, Marta (referee) ; Čtrnáctová, Hana (referee)
The objective of the dissertation was to assess the suitability of the scientific literacy development by using learning tasks in chemistry classes for ISCED 2. By comparing the learning tasks types in commercial workbooks and in the international assessment PISA, a significant difference in their structure was found out. Although the Czech Republic has undertaken to participate in the PISA project, Czech teachers have a different type of teaching tasks commonly available in their workbooks than the pupils afterwards solve in the PISA project. PISA's released and author's learning tasks were compiled into authentic workbooks. They were used in chemistry classes during the school year 2016/2017. Based on the pupils' results in the final assignments, all groups of grammar school pupils from experimental groups achieved better results in solving multicomponent learning tasks than the control group. However, the results of elementary schools pupils were significantly worse at final test scores than at initial ones, which was explained by the entire loss of their motivation to study. Pupils rated motivation to work with multicomponent tasks above average. They were fully aware of the importance and usefulness of solving multicomponent learning tasks, and, therefore, they solved them with proper...
Qualitative analysis and making of online educational videos for teaching chemistry
Burjánek, Vít ; Teplý, Pavel (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Petr (referee)
The thesis Qualitative analysis and making of online educational videos for teaching chemistry elaborates on the position of educational video in the field of educational tools and education generally. A theoretical research of international academic resources was conducted and the results were used to create a set of criteria and suggestions to increase the effectivity of an educational video. These were later used as a basis for analysis of various Czech educational video channels selected using key words from topics that students often find confusing or difficult. All the information gathered was then used to create a video focused on a selected chemistry topic.
Analýza učebních úloh k maturitní zkoušce pro vybrané tematické okruhy učiva chemie
ŠAVRDOVÁ, Tereza
This thesis deals with the analysis of problem-solving exercises of selected chemistry syllabus topics for the GCSE exam. The theoretical part starts with a brief description of the conceptual evolution of the chemistry GCSE exam. Furthermore, the subject of chemistry in the Framework Education Programme (FEP) for secondary schools (gymnasium type) is characterized, and a list of the most common types of chemistry problems in the admissions exams for universities is presented. In the practical part, the authors compare the relation of chemistry GCSE topics at selected gymnasium schools with the learning objectives and syllabus defined by FEP. The partial aim is to analyze the preparatory problem-solving exercises for university admission exams and for chemistry GCSE exams in terms of a structure and prevailing typology of learning tasks. The authors have created a set of more complex exercises that emphasizes an interconnection of selected topics from organic and general chemistry. This outcome represents a potential contribution to the educational practice.
Food Chemistry and Nutrition in Chemistry Secondary Education
Třeštíková, Tereza ; Klímová, Helena (advisor) ; Martínek, Václav (referee) ; Čížková, Věra (referee)
This PhD thesis deals with a topic of food chemistry and nutrition in secondary school education in chemistry lessons. The theoretical part summarizes significance and evaluation of textbooks and furthermore it focuses on modern approaches in chemistry lessons with the main focus on interactive boards. The methodological part deals with the analysis of framework educational programs, textbook analysis, questionaire surveys and creation of teaching materials. The practical part of this thesis summarizes the results of analysis of framework educational programs and textbooks in relation to food chemistry and diseases related to nutrition. It shows results of a questionnaire survey which has examined knowledge of students in the area of proper nutrition, diet and diseases related to nutrition and also relationship of students to this issue and to the subject of chemistry in general. It also summarizes the results of verification of studying materials which have arisen in this thesis. The practical part also includes an educational text for teachers on the topic of lipids, which was developed based on the results of extensive analysis of secondary school chemistry and biology textbooks, framework analysis of educational programs and research at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The topic of...
Quizzes, Puzzles and Other Similar Games as a Tool of Motivation in Chemistry
Petrů, Michaela ; Cídlová, Hana (advisor) ; Klečková, Marta (referee) ; Solárová, Marie (referee)
The dissertation deals with the effectiveness of the useof motivational elements like different types of crossword puzzles, riddles, rebuses and word plays etc. in teaching chemistry atlower secondary school. First, the database of motivational problems was created. The tasks (problems) are designed for practicing the curriculum of chemistry at lower secondary school in combination with one of the following subjects - mathematics, physics, biology or geography. Partia collection of problems that combine chemistry curriculum with geography or biology are available at http://is.muni.cz/do/rect/el/estud/pedf/cidlova/index.html. The remaining two collections are attached to this dissertation. These problems were subsequently used in an one and half year research focused on the impact of their use in teaching on the relationship of pupils to chemistry and on the results of their education in chemistry at lower secondary school. The research was initiated with a total of 886 pupils of the 3rd grade of lower secondary school. At the beginnig of the second semester these pupils completed an initial questionnaire focused on their relationship to chemistry. At the same time, the same pupils were also exposed to a test focused on chemistry curriculum corresponding to their level of education. The one-semester...
Organometallic Compounds in Chemistry Education
Houser, František ; Klímová, Helena (advisor) ; Svoboda, Lubomír (referee) ; Kolář, Karel (referee)
The thesis is devoted to organometallic chemistry teaching problematics at Czech secondary schools. In this thesis it is analyzed what space in the schooling is given this theme by educational programs. Furthermore, the thesis are in terms of the theme of organometallic compounds analyzed secondary school textbooks commonly used chemical education, and there is estimated interest of teachers for the newly prepared materials on this topic as well. As a reaction to the conclusions of the analyzes was prepared explanatory text on the topic of organometallic compounds intended for teachers who can use it for their own learning and to prepare their lessons as well. The second main output of this work is a set of test tasks relating to the created explanatory text of organometallic compounds. These questions are not only intended for testing mastering the topic of organometallic compounds by pupils, but also serves as an mastery-level proposal of the topic that students especially in grammar schools and secondary vocational schools should achieve. Explanatory text and a set of test tasks were verified by teachers teaching chemistry through direct interview method and then there were incorporated comments emerged in the interviews into them.
