Results Based on the analysis of available studies, the thesis confirmed that the incidence of cervicogenic headache in the general population is not negligible. It has also been proved that the diagnosis is quite frequent in patients suffering from headache, which may represent up to 35 % of patients. The results of available studies indicate that the dysfunction of the cervical spine causes 15-20 % of cervicogenic headaches. In most of the cases, it is the influence of the...
Prevalence and incidence of alcohol tobacco and cannabis use in the cohort of primary school students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade
Jurystová, Lucie ; Gabrhelík, Roman (advisor) ; Vacek, Jaroslav (referee)
Background The period of adolescence is typical for first experiments and initiation of substance use. The onset of experiments emerges between 11 and 15 years of age according to different authors. Although many adolescents end with experiments, there is still a group of those who proceed to regular use. Frequent, regular and especially heavy substance use represents various risks in many aspects of individual's life. According to various studies earlier onset of substance use may predict serious difficulties in adult stages of life. Important and currently widely discussed question is differences in substance use between boys and girls. Aims To identify the age of cigarette, alcohol and cannabis use onset according to gender. To find out prevalence of use among boys and girls. To find out whether incidence of substance use is higher during school year or summer holidays. Methods The ESPAD questionnaire was used for data collection, which was realized in the period of 34 months from August 2007 until June 2010. Indicators were defined for categories of cigarette smoking, alcohol drinking and experience with cannabis. For clarification of the given hypothesis statistical analyses in Microsoft Office Excel 2007 were used - descriptive statistics, contingency tables, Fisher's F-test and (Student)...

Epidemiological aspects of inflammatory rheumatic diseases and diffusional diseases of binding tissue.
Hánová, Petra ; Pavelka, Karel (advisor) ; Bencko, Vladimír (referee) ; Horák, Pavel (referee)
v anglickém jazyce Introduction: No information was known about frequency of common inflammatory disorders in rheumatology in the Czech Republic. Aims of the study: To estimate the standardized annual incidence (INC) and point prevalence (PREV) of six diseases (rheumatoid arthritis-RA, juvenile idiopathic arthritis-JIA, gout, psoriatic arthritis-PsA, ankylosing spondylitis-AS, reactive arthritis-ReA) in a population-based study in two regions of the Czech Republic (CR). Methods: INC: Incident cases were registered on condition that the definite diagnosis was confirmed according to existing classification criteria during the study period. PREV was studied on the basis of identification of established diagnoses at a time point. Crude rates were standardized for age and sex. Results: Both INC and PREV are shown per 100.000 inhabitants. RA INC:31 (95%CI 20-42), PREV:610 (95%CI 561-658). Gout-INC:41 (95%CI 28-53), PREV:300 (95% CI 266-334). JIA-INC: 13 (95% CI 1-20), PREV:140 (95%CI 117-280). PsA-INC:3,6 (95% CI 1-8), PREV:49 (95%CI 40-60). AS-INC:6 (95% CI 3-11), PREV:94 (95% CI 94-109). ReA-INC:9 (95% CI 6-15), PREV:91 (95% CI 78-106). Conclusion: This is the first population-based study estimating annual incidence and prevalence rates of the most common rheumatological disorders in the Czech...
Pathological gambling in croupiers of Prague casinos: Exploratory-correlative questionnaire survey
Staněk, Pavel ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vopravil, Jiří (referee)
The aim of the study was to describe the relationship of Prague croupiers casinos to gambling and their potential pathological gambling. Research questions were used tracking circumstances of creation and the development of pathological gambling, its existence and possible causes and their own perception of the respondents. As the method was exploratory-correlation questionnaire survey to obtain data the combination of a questionnaire and SOGS own closed questions. The current population was employed in Prague croupiers casinos and a sample, obtained using the technique of total choice, off the respondents, who replied to questionnaire. Data were processed by mathematical-statistical methods of analysis in SPSS. From the final results is it evident, that the number of probable pathological gamblers among dealers of Prague casinos is much higher than the prevalence of this phenomenon in the general population. In the casino is 33 % of the respondents and in general population is estimated only 1% of pathological gamblers. The reasons for could be clarified this. Vondráčková, Petra ; Kalina, Kamil (advisor) ; Viktorová, Ida (referee)
ADDICTIVE BEHAVIOUR ON THE INTERNET Petra Vondráčková Abstract: This doctoral thesis is about addictive behaviour on the Internet which is studied on three different levels: general population level (quantitative approach), and some of the results of this study are more described on a group level and an individual level (qualitative approach). First paper is a quantitative study which deals with addictive behaviour on the Internet on the general level by providing its prevalence in the general population in the Czech Republic and compares some of the results with those in Chile and Sweden. The second paper is a qualitative study which maps motivation of addictive behaviour on the Internet in the group of MMORPG players and the third article is a case study of the development of addictive behaviour on the Internet and its treatment. It has been found that in the general population in the Czech republic 3.7% of Internet users were at risk and a total of 3.4% could be described as having developed addictive behaviour on the Internet, that players of MMORPG with addictive behaviour on the Internet play in order to relaxation, self-realization, social contact and coping with boredom and motives for limiting online games were realizing one's absorption in the game, health reasons, impulses from the environment...
Socio-geographic determinants of risky substance use among Czech adolescents
Kážmér, Ladislav ; Dzúrová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Kulhánová, Ivana (referee) ; Králíková, Eva (referee)
The thesis aims at the specific issues of health-related behaviour among the contemporary Czech youth, with particular emphasis on a socio-geographical dimension of the phenomena. In particular, it aims at identification of selected demographic, social, and contextual factors underlying the inequalities in risky substance use among the Czech adolescent population in its complex multilevel perspective. By applying the advanced methodology of multilevel modelling, the author reveals an integral nature of these factors in space and time, and thus contributes to a deeper knowledge on the structures and processes determining the selected forms of risk behaviours. In addition to an integrative multilevel approach, the author derives recommendations for an effective planning and implementation of preventive measures in agenda of the Czech drug policy as well. Key words: adolescence; substance use; prevalence; socio-geographic inequalities; multilevel analysis; Czechia
Computer games and Internet addiction among second grade pupils of elementary schools: a comparison of urban and rural populations
Kramářová, Simona ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vondráčková, Petra (referee)
The theme of this thesis is Computer games and Internet addiction among second grade pupils of elementary schools: a comparison of urban and rural populations. Its documents are the scientific literature and studies on the subject and the results of research conducted in the period from March to May 2012. The aim of this thesis is to find a prevalence of addictive behavior on the Internet and PC games among second grade pupils of elementary schools, to compare the prevalence of urban and rural population and to identify factors associated with this dependency behavior. Theoretical part is divided into six chapters. There are briefly described addictive and impulsive disorders, and further described dependency theories on the Internet / PC games, diagnostic criteria and symptoms by which this dependence may be identified, for comparison with my results there are the results of prevalence studies of defects observed in comparable populations. The thesis also focuses on the characteristics of the target groups and character traits, which are described in the problem users of the Internet/ PC games, protective and risk factors for the emergence and development of addiction to computer games and Internet, as well as prevention and treatment of these disorders. The practical part consists of a research...
Pathogenic trichomonads in cats and dogs
Vobořilová, Pavlína ; Tachezy, Jan (advisor) ; Hampl, Vladimír (referee)
Trichomonads are anaerobic flagellated protists that are either parasites or commensals. They frequently inhabit digestive, respiratory, and urogenital tracts of vertebrates, including domestic cats and dogs. In these hosts, four trichomonad species has been described: Tetratrichomonas canistomae and Tetratrichomonas felistomae that are commensals of the host oral cavity; Pentatrichomonas hominis, a commensal of intestinal tract that could be found in dogs and cats but also in other mammals including humans; and pathogenic Tritrichomonas foetus that causes, in addition to cattle infection, feline intestinal trichomonosis. Although, trichomonads in dogs and cats are probably of cosmopolitan distribution we have no information about their presence in Czech Republic. The first aim of this study was to distinguish types of trichomonads present in the oral cavity of dogs and cats and to get preliminary epidemiological data. The second aim was to demonstrate the presence of Tritrichomonas foetus in cats and dogs in the Czech Republic and to identify potential risk factors for the disease. Cultivation and nested PCR were used to determine the presence of trichomonads in dogs and cats. Sequencing and phylogenetic analysis based on ITS1-5.8rRNA-ITS2 gene sequence was used to identify species of isolated...
Haemoproteus in passerines: Prevalence and infekction dynamics
Chalupová, Barbora ; Svobodová, Milena (advisor) ; Munclinger, Pavel (referee)
The genera Haemoproteus and Plasmodium are widespread genera of blood parasites from phylum Apicomplexa. Both genera have dixenous life cycle and their definitive hosts belong to the order Diptera. Both parasites can be found in birds where asexual division takes place. The infection with genera Haemoproteus and Plasmodium is usually asymptomatic; during long lasting chronic phase relapses of the infection can occur. We gained 1 092 blood samples from 29 trapped species of passerines in Milovice forest during seasons 2017-2019. Haemosporidians were detected in 48 % of samples. The prevalence of genus Plasmodium was 16 %, the prevalence of genus Haemoproteus was 22 % and 10 % we could not specify the parasite. We have found six new lineages of genus Haemoproteus, provisionally named Haemoproteus lineages coccoc_1, coccoc_2, coccoc_3, coccoc_4, embcit, fricoe which total prevalence was 14 %. Lineage Haemoproteus sp. coccoc_1 was the most noticed one and its prevalence was 12 %. Plasmodium relictum clone Peng14-121Br2AF and isolate Cc_P1 was the second most prevalent (13 %). Infection dynamics was studied in samples gained in years 2014-2019. Forty individuals were examined between years and twenty-seven individuals were examined intraseasonally. Three individuals were trapped both intra- and...
