On the basis of these findings was prepared brochure focusing on continuous elimination method, which is the output of this work. Key words: nurse, continuous renal replecemat threrapy, hemodialysis, intensive...
Accessibility and comprehensibility of information given to families of patients in intensive care
Měchurová, Marie ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Pražáková, Zuzana (referee)
The thesis solves the quality of the process of passing information to the relatives / close patient in intensive care. A deficiency of important information or misunderstanding may cause anxiety and depression relatives and close patients. Communication with the patient's family must therefore be done methodically and systemically. The first part of the thesis brings orientation in the main terminology and introduces the already implemented strategies of solution of the problem in our country and in the world. The main objective is to create a methodical instruction for the OARIM (Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Medicine), which lists the priorities for informing relatives and close critically ill patients. The research maps the general view of the relatives of a critically ill patient hospitalized at OARIM on the process of communication and mutual co-operation with the staff. It also investigates how the OARIM patient's relatives assess the level of communication and interaction between them and the treating staff. The empirical part uses quantitative research methods; using a questionnaire survey on a sample of 92 relatives / close critically ill patients from a regional-type hospital, provides an analysis of the ways in which information is passed on to health...

The arterial cannulation in the competence of general practice nurses
Bošnovič, Michal ; Burišková, Klára (advisor) ; Hladká, Petra (referee)
Introduction: Arterial catherer placement by a general nurse at the departments of intensive care, resuscitation and anaesthesiology is still rather exceptional, despite the fact that this competence was defined in our legal system for the first time already in 2004 by the Decree no. 424/2004 Coll. of the Ministry of Health. The authorisation to execute this highly professional operation by a nurse specialised in intensive care is generally not reflected by the employer in the job description, although it might be one of the possible ways to increase the prestige of this profession. Objectives: The main objective of the thesis was to determine the current state in the area of arterial line placement from the perspective of intensive care nurses, to quantify their interest and clarify their readiness to execute the operation. Methodology: The quantitative method of anonymous questionnaire of own design was selected for the research survey. The questionnaire was distributed in electronic way to hospitals established by the Ministry of Health, regional government or private owners. We contacted one large hospital in every region, with the exception of Prague. The research sample consisted of general nurses working at the departments of intensive care, resuscitation and anaesthesiology, who at the same...
Evidence-based practice in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in intensive care patients
Příhodová, Markéta ; Di Cara, Veronika (advisor) ; Hladká, Petra (referee)
Pressure ulcers are one of the quality indicators of nursing care, their presence reduces the quality of life of the patient, leads to a prolongation of hospitalization, increases costs of care and affects the budget of a health care facility. European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel or the European Advisory Board on issues of bedsores (EPUAP) leads and supports all European countries in their efforts to prevent and treat pressure sores. EPUAP working group has developed guidelines for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. One of the important factors in providing the highest quality of nursing care is the ability of nurses to practically use the research results in the nursing process. This thesis deals with the effective use of the latest advances in the prevention of pressure sores and their treatment in the intensive care in Czech Republic. The main objective of this thesis is to explore the latest methods of prevention of pressure sores and care, according to Evidence-based practice principles EPUAP and analyze their practical implementation in selected intensive care wards. Quantitative research was conducted through an anonymous questionnaire in the population of nurses working in intensive care. The results of the research show that nurses working in intensive care, implement...
Effect of sporting activity on the risk of burnout in nurses working in intensive care
Fialová, Zdeňka ; Heczková, Jana (advisor) ; Strnadová, Alice (referee)
Master thesis is dealing with the influence of sport activity at burnout among nurses working in intensive care and resuscitation. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the empirical part. In the theoretical part we deal with burnout, its risk factors, symptoms and preventive measures. Other chapters are devoted to sports, primarily focused on the influence of sports activities on psychological stress and burnout. We also describe the possibilities of introducing sport activities to the workplaces. The main goal of our work is to determine whether there exists a relationship between sport activity and the risk of burnout. The research was carried out with the use of a quantitative questionnaire survey, which consisted of two parts. The first part contained questions related to burnout and was conducted using a validated MBI (Maslach Burnout Inventory) questionnaire. The second part contained questions related to the leisure sports activities of nurses. Within Všeobecná fakultní nemocnice in Prague, Malvazinky rehabilitation clinic, hospital Mělník, Tanvald, Sedlčany and Neratovice were distributed 298 questionnaires to the nurses working on the resuscitation or intensive care departments. The final testing sample consisted of 233 questionnaires (78% of surveyed nurses). It was found out...
The need of sleep of the patients in the Intensive Care
Svobodová, Karolína ; Hošťálková, Monika (advisor) ; Burišková, Klára (referee)
Diploma thesis deals with the problems of sleep of the patients in intensive care. Sleep is the very basic of human needs and its correct pattern is crucial for any activity of an organism. A person who is sick has an increased need for sleep and are among the most frustrated needs. The theoretical part defines sleep as a basic human need to deal with physiology and sleep disorders. I include a chapter dealing with intensive care and aspects of the environment that affect sleep of the patients. The main objective is to determine whether the need for sleep of the patients is saturated or not. I also set milestones as to gain information regarding patients sleeping pattern at home.To find out, what influence nurses in approaching sleep as a matter and to look for factors that have an influence of some sort from the nurses point of view regarding the sleeping pattern same as from the patients view of the matter. In the empirical part, I reached the set goals through interviews and questionnaires. Thanks to interviews with patients, I discovered that need of sleep of patients in intensive care is not saturated.Out of the 30 respondents I interviewed, 17 of them therefore deemed their sleep as poor and insufficient. I also worked out the factors that have the greatest negative effect on the need of...
