Pitfalls of the surgical treatment of obesity from the patient's point of view

This thesis examines the surgical treatment of obesity from the perspective of the patient. The theoretical portion deals with etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, complications, related illnesses, conservative and surgical treatments (definitions, overview and types, principles of basic bariatric approaches, as well as effects and indications, side effects, and results of treatment. It also includes the specifics of the pre-operative preparation, immediate and long- term post-operative care, psychological preparation and post-bariatric-surgery nutrition. The empirical portion consists of quantitative research in the form of a survey instrument with closed-end questions with the possibility of individual responses. The respondents were patients who had been diagnosed as morbidly obese or third-degree obesity and who had also been through surgery within the past three years. One hundred and fifty surveys were distributed, 125 were returned, and 10 of those were not used for incompleteness, and another 6 were not used because the respondents did not meet the criteria. Quality of life of dialysis patients

Purpose of this Bachelor theses is to point out the quality of life of patients in chronic dialysis program. The theoretical part deals with chronic renal failure - causes, risk factors and complications, hemodialysis - the principle, inclusion in the chronic dialysis program and chronic and acute complications, renal transplantation and vascular approaches enabling dialysis. The author then discusses the quality of life as a such and the possibilities of determination of quality of life. The aim of the empirical part was to investigate the quality of life of chronic dialysis patients, their family backgrounds, occupations, leisure activities, their subjective 123 perception of physical condition and emotional state. Quantitative research conducted at the dialysis centre of University Hospital in Prague was used for this purpose.
Nursing care of the patient with pulmonary embolism after the hormonal therapy

This bachelor thesis is focused on nursing care of a patient with pulmonary embolism after a hormonal therapy. The theoretical part deals with the issue of pulmonary embolism from the point of view of etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, risk factors including hormonal therapy, where it the procoagulant effect of hormonal preparations and the increased risk of thromboembolic disease for young women is pointed out. The bachelor thesis was sourced from the National Medical Library through the PubMed database, Embase (Ovid), Medvik, CINHAL and the keyword search engine. For the practical part a qualitative research method in form of a case study was selected. The case for the study was a patient with pulmonary embolism after the hormonal preparation within the first cycle of assisted reproduction of the IVF. For the purpose of the case study the documentation, method of an interview, observation and cooperation with the care staff was used. Ethical aspects of research were respected during writing of this thesis. The objective of this bachelor thesis is to elaborate a case report including the creation of a nursing care plan for the patient in question and to increase the availability of information on possible risks of hormonal treatment to the general public. Assesment of quality of postoperative analgesic care

Introduction: The acute postoperative pain management is recently a concern of many expert committees and professional associations. The evidence of an increased interest in this issue is the Practice Guidelines for Acute Pain Management released by American Pain Society. According to these recommendations, the pain should be monitored as a fifth vital function. As a logical consequence of modern trends of pain management, Czech Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine issued guidelines for acute pain management in postoperative setting. Nursing care of patient after Lung Transplantation

The Lung Transplantation is comprehensive treatment method intended for the patient with a long term respiratory insufficiency, at the terminal stage of pulmonary disease. For the patients with incurable and mostly lethal disease, gives possibility for long term survival and at the same time significant improvement in quality of life. Post-operative care classifying as the most complex and demanding in intensive care. The lung function is very vulnerable with a high risk of rejection and infections complication. The bacherol diploma thesis comprise two major parts. Theoretical part aim to the beging of the Lung transplantation in the Czech republic, anatomy of the respiratory system and description of complete transplantation course. Sources for the diploma thesis adaptation obtained from the National Medical library, Medvik database, Pub Med database and Internet finder searching based on the keywords. Knowledge of nurses about dietary and drinking regime for haemodialysis patients

This thesis focuses on general nurses' knowledge of dietary and fluid restrictions in haemodialysis patients. It consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. Theoretical part overviews the kidney anatomy, physiology, renal failure, education, psychosocial circumstances, current options of haemodialysis treatment, dietary and fluid restrictions in haemodialysis patients. The information in the theoretical part comes from the National Medical Library's resources as well from the electronic sources obtained via Medline, PubMed and Web of Science. Quantitative research in the form of voluntary, anonymous questionnaire using polar questions was used for the elaboration of the practical part of the thesis. In total, 200 questionnaires were distributed. 162 of them were returned and 12 of these were discarded for incompleteness. Respondents were recruited among general nurses from haemodialysis centres and intensive care units. Five hypotheses were stated prior to the statistical processing of the data and the results are evaluated in the discussion section. Nursing care of patient with quadriplegia

The bachelor thesis focuses on nursing care of a quadruplegic patient. The theoretical part describes anatomy and physiology of spine and spinal cord, characteristics of disability, first aid, etiology, symptomatology, diagnostics, therapy, complications and nursing care. The sources for an elaboration of the theoretical part were found in the National Medical Library, via Medvik, on Wikiscriptions, on the thesis repositories and on the Spinal Unit website. For a larger amount of resources, research was made in the National Medical Library based on keywords. For the elaboration of the practical part, a qualitative research method was chosen in the form of a case study of a patient with quadruplegia. Case study includes information from medical records, interviews with the patient and observations. The main goal of the bachelor thesis is to process a case study, which includes a nursing plan of a selected patient with all the specifics, that the care for the quadruplegic patient brings us. History of First Aid focused on cardiopulmonary resuscitation

The thesis deals with an overview of the history of First Aid, focusing on the development of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It is a historical-comparative work of theoretical nature. The intention is to map the knowledge and experience that can be used effectively to develop and study the issue. When writing a thesis, an analysis of the available literature, both historical and contemporary, foreign and Czech, was used. Articles from professional periodicals and monographs were searched. The work was, for the sake of completeness, supplemented with period pictures and diagrams. The introduction justifies the choice of the topic and depicts the current state of knowledge in the field of First Aid. The next chapter explains the basic concepts which are important for orientation in the issue. Following a historical study First Aid aimed at developments providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The chapter is divided into subchapters describing the chronology of events to present recommendations for resuscitation and First Aid, so called CPR Guidelines 2015. The last chapter deals with the basic legal minimum. Assessing the use GUSS test in patients with dysphagia after stroke

(v AJ) Nursing care for patients with dysphagia after stroke is nowadays a very serious problem. This disease is particularly dangerous for patients because of the risk of imminent aspiration pneumonia. In 2015, Czech Republic has developed a standard treatment plan for patients with dysphagia after stroke and following this plan a new screening method was put into practice, which would prevent aspiration pneumonia (Salt, 2015). This method is called THE GUGGING SWALLOWING SCREEN - GUSS test. After a positive GUSS test result a standardized nursing care should follow, which would involve the whole medical team (doctors, health nurses, speech therapists, physiotherapists and orderly). The aim of this work is to verify whether the GUSS test and subsequently the determined process of the standard treatment together with the nursing care meets and the needs of the nurses. Another objective is to verify whether the nurses would want to add, innovate or make necessary updates based on the already acquired experiences.
