Computation of vehicle aerodynamic characteristics

This Diploma thesis deals with CFD simulations of flow around vehicles subjected to a crosswind with MIRA Reference Car in three body shapes with a diffuser serving as a vehicle. It contains tuning of computational grid and chosen solver settings in Fluent, mostly for v2f turbulence model. The main output of this thesis is a simulation of all body shapes in several crosswind angles in steady state and one chosen body shape with one chosen crosswind angle in unsteady state. All results are validated against measurements taken with full scale models in MIRA windtunnel.

Development of Formula 1 cars

This bachelor´s thesis deals with development of Formula One cars from the begging of the Formula One Worlds Driver´s Championship and describes the first twenty years of this development. This period is characteristic as the replacement of the pre-war cars with engine in front for the cars with engine behind the driver, which is typical for nowadays Formula One. There are description of main construction components and their subgroups, which had been improved by using new materials and technologies.

The aim of bachelor thesis is research themed the aerodynamics wind tunnels in the automotive. Thesis contains overview of historical evolution of wind tunnels and their categorization. Following chapter describes main parts of wind tunnel, ways of measurement in wind tunnels and problems during testing.

Computation of race car aerodynamics

The main subject of this diploma thesis is computation of race car aerodynamics. It describes composition method of CFD model with utilization of 3D scanner ATOS and CAD software Pro Engineer. During creating this diploma thesis were found influences of additional aerodynamics components of racing car on globally axle loads.

Design of and F5F Race Model

This document aims to explore the possibilities for design optimizations of an aircraft model in a specific competition category. On the basis of simulation of the model described by the basic parameters the characteristics are evaluated. Then an appropriately chosen optimization algorithm refines the design. The evaluation takes into account several criteria including aerodynamics, stability and weight.

Topic and aim of my bachelor thesis is research and design of rooftop power plant cover in accordance with technical, aesthetic and ecological requirements. The aim is to create a cover, which will be minimalistic and modern, won’t be a disturbing element in urban areas and its shape will increase the efficiency of the wind turbine.

This work shows basic rules and conditions for construction and use of cars formula 1. The main part of this work focus on the aerodynamics which is the most important discipline of this motosport. My work also deal with basic factors concerning the car´s motor, wheels, new technologies KERS and the design of the fancy roller.
