Knowledge Discovery over Data Warehouses

This Master's thesis deals with the principles of the data mining process, especially with the mining of association rules. The theoretical apparatus of general description and principles of the data warehouse creation is set. On the basis of this theoretical knowledge, the application for the association rules mining is implemented. The application requires the data in the transactional form or the multidimensional data organized in the Star schema. The implemented algorithms for finding of the frequent patterns are Apriori and FP-tree. The system allows the variant setting of parameters for mining process. Also, the validation tests and efficiency proofs were accomplished. From the point of view of the association rules searching support, the resultant application is more applicable and robust than the existing compared systems SAS Miner and Oracle Data Miner.

This bachelor's thesis focuses on complete analyse of the information system of company Gnotec Čadca s.r.o., which is a leading manufacturer of metal components to demanding automotive and industrial customers. This work also contains described and evaluated outputs as proposal of solution for more effective enterprise information system usage in this successful branch of the Swedish company Gnotec located in Čadca. Bachelor thesis values current situation of information system and sets conditions for optimised solution selection.

The goal was to develop a reporting system which simplifies company customer's orientation in key performance indicators. As implementation environment has been used .NET Framework 3.5 with C\# language and database server Microsoft SQL 2008 with Analysis Services extension, for web interface has been used ASP.NET.

Information System for a Small Farmer

The aim of the thesis was to design and create a web information system for a small farmer, which will be later used on a real farm. The core of the whole system is the OLAP analysis of incomes and expenses, which is based on the works done on fields, purchased materials and sold products. For implementation were chosen PHP, Nette - the Czech framework and MySQL database.

Theme of this master’s thesis is design of software support for business intelligence. Design is realized in cooperation with corporation ZZN Pelhřimov a.s. Introduction is focused on theoretical description of business intelligence and datamining and also on development environment in which is project designed. Corporation is characterised also in introduction. Main part contains data collecting and definition of individual modules. In conclusion of this thesis will be several types of analysis from collected data and then according to these analysis, we can draw measures to improve current state of corporation.

Portal for Comparing Scientific Results

Thesis deals with the creation of a portal for comparing scientific results between institutions in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This thesis aims to create a functional analytic tool prototype that allows users to generate data samples based on specific common characteristics and to perform advanced data analysis over these samples, resulting in different types of graphs. Graphs can be placed on the main panel. This panel can be customized as per their own preferences so each user can have it different. Analyzable metrics include the number of citations, social references, and readers that individual scientific publications have received.

In the end of thesis is assessment of the application and induction to real business conditions.

OLAP Analysis of Big Data

The goal of this bachelor’s thesis is the creation of three OLAP data cubes, which will solve the problem of foreign trips of students and employees of BUT. The primary purpose of data cubes is to quickly provide correct data for BUT analysts. SAP Business Warehouse software is used for their modeling and implementation, and SAP Analysis for Microsoft Excel software is used for testing. After successful design, implementation and testing, BUT has these three OLAP data cubes on the production and development servers of SAP Business Warehouse, to which BUT analysts have access. Thanks to this work and data cubes focused on foreign trips, analysts and BUT employees in managerial roles have the opportunity to quickly access data and analyzes that serve to support correct decisions related to the functioning of BUT.
