What does aging and old age mean for women?
Roedlová, Adéla ; Jeřábek, Hynek (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
This master thesis deals with the subjective view of middle aged and older Czech women on problematic of old age and aging. In connection of old age and aging they focus more on the aging of the whole society or relation between the generations, but not on a subjective perception and experience of this life stage and process. The aim of this work is to find out what women consider as the key elements of old age and aging and also to create a comprehensive view of aging from the women perspective. It is also essential to the thesis to determine the differences and similarities in the perception of aging in terms of age and life stage. In this thesis is used a method of qualitative research, which is grounded in the phenomenological approach and data collection is carried out using the ZMET research method. This projective technique of data collection, whose theory and practice is described in the work, is based on the idea that people do not think verbally but in images. Study of molecular weight and configurational stability of substituted polyacetylenes
Trhlíková, Olga ; Sedláček, Jan (advisor) ; Netopilík, Miloš (referee) ; Žigon, Majda (referee)
3 ABSTRACT Complexes [Rh(cycloolefin)(acac)] (cycloolefin = norborna-2,5-diene, cycloocta- 1,5-diene and cyclooctatetraene) were investigated as catalysts of polymerization of monosubstituted acetylenes into stereoregular cis-transoid polyacetylenes. All complexes were highly active in arylacetylenes polymerizations in both coordinating and non-coordinating solvents. Selection of solvent and cycloolefin ligand of the catalyst allowed the control over polymer MW. The onset of initiation in the [Rh(cycloolefin)(acac)]/monomer systems proceeded as the proton transfer from the monomer molecule to the acac ligand under the release of acetylacetone and coordination of -C≡CR ligand to Rh(cycloolefin) moiety. Cis-transoid poly(phenylacetylene) and poly[(2,4-difluorophenyl)acetylene]s with required initial MW were prepared with these catalysts and submitted to the long-term ageing in which the polymers were exposed to the atmosphere and diffuse daylight either dissolved in tetrahydrofuran or in the solid state. Tightly connected processes of cis-to-trans isomerization of the polymer main-chains double bonds and oxidative degradation were found to proceed during polymers ageing in the solution. Besides, the formation of corresponding cyclotrimers accompanied the polymers ageing. However, the cyclotrimers amount was...
Nutritional status of seniors depending on their dietary habits.
Horová, Markéta ; Polášková, Marcela (advisor) ; Prajerová, Květa (referee)
The title of the work: Nutritional status of seniors depending on their dietary habits. The aim of the work: The aim of my project is monitoring of nutritional status of women in the age group between 55-74 years old. Methodology: This work is a case study and is composed as a qualitative research. The main method for determining the nutritional status and dietary habits of the women was interwiev, clinical and anthropometric examination according to a standardized protocol input of Survey Project-Health application (Fiala, 1998). As for data collecting, it is a prospective study. The obtained data regarding nutritional habits, alcohol consumption, smoking, level of physical activity, psychosocial stress, family anamnesis, blood pressure, anthropometric and biochemical parameters of individual respondents were processed by a computer program Survey (Kozina, 2001). The results are in output protocols, which contain charts, scales, tables and text with graphic design program options within Excel. Outcomes: Nutritional status of women in the study (55 - 74 year old) shows the overweight or even obesity. Only 10 % of the women had % of body fat in standard, 90 % had high % of body fat. 7 participants out of 10 showed rather hazardous or risky android fat deposition in the abdominal area. Common to all...
Active senior lifestyle
Dušková, Iveta ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Horčic, Josef (referee)
Subject: Active senior lifestyle Author's name: Bc. Iveta Dušková Supervizor: profesor Ing. Václav Bunc CSc. Objective: To verify whether biological age of tested seniors is in line with their calendar age. The differnce towards calendar age will be evaluated via ECM/BCM ration based on body content analysis. I will investigate the influence of physical activity on slower ageing physiology and the effect of physical activity on status of net muscle mass and on frequency of civilazation diseases. The goal is to figure out if active lifestyle is available also for seniors. Methods: The core of the work is qualitative and quantitative survey mapping antropometric parameters by bioimpedancy method. The functional values were collected by motorical step est and by handgrip. Further the subjective quality life judgment interview with yes/no options was used for the target senior group. Results: The relationship was found for the bioimpedancy results and the the volume of physical weekly activity (in hours) and level of BMI and pecentage of body fat. Further the realtionship was found for physical activity volume and for the dynamometric and motorical test results. Thjere is a difference between men and women. There was no relationship found for ECM/BCM coefficient and physical activity volume. The type...

Sexual dimorphism of the face and changes during senescence
Mydlová, Miriama ; Velemínská, Jana (advisor) ; Blažek, Vladimír (referee)
The human face shape is constantly changing during human life, even after one`s development stop (Hennessy a Moss, 2001; Williams a Slice, 2010). This work applies geometric morphometry method on study of sexual dimorphism of human face through ageing. Sexual dimorphism can be defined as a systematic difference in form between individuals of different sex of the same kind (Samal et al., 2007). Morphological changes, related to the process of ageing of human face, were analysed on data obtained from 3D surface models of human faces using methods of geometric morphometry (Dense Correspondence Analysis, Principal Component Analysis, Shell-to-Shell Deviation) and multivariatel statistics (Scree Plot, Hotelling`s Tš-test, permutational test, MANOVA). The work results indicates that the form (size with shape) and shape of men and women faces significantly change through ageing. Individuals aged between 20-40 years differ in form of the face, however the oldest men aged between 61-82 years differ from women only in shape of the face. The biggest differences in sexual dimorphism are in the middle age category (41-60 years), where there are significant differences not only in form, but also considering shape alone. Key words: ageing, form and shape, geometric morphometry, human face, sexual dimorphism 7
