Love through the Eyes of Seniors: A Qualitative Analysis of Partners Love in Senior Marriage

Bachelor thesis deals with the theme of the partner love in the elderly. The theoretical part summarizes the current knowledge about love. It decribes the transformation of love and intimacy that occurs in modern society. Currently, the importance of love in a relationship is visibly increasing. Love now allows functioning of the relationship but it also contributes to instability. It also describes some typologies of love, in detail from Hatfield et al., who divide a love for two basic types; passionate (romantic) love and companionate love. It points to the fact that during the marriage the form of love changes. According to the traditional model of understanding love, romantic love is transformed into companionate love. However, romantic love can maintain into old age and contribute to the satisfaction of the elderly. The theoretical part also deals with old age and aging. Nowadays, population gets older and the elderly represent an increasingly important population group. At the end of the theoretical part are presented the selected myths and stereotypes about elderly. But seniors are able to live meaningfully and actively participate to maintain their marriage and partner love. The practical part is devoted to interviews with married couples in the senior years. Education opportunities for older adults in the region of Ústí

5 Summary This thesis presents education opportunities for older adults. First part of the thesis is focused on an old age characteristic and all changes that this period of life brings, describes position of older adults in the society and elderly education specifics. Final chapter of this part of the thesis is dedicated to the list of institutions, where older adults can be educated. The thesis is written in a sense of comparison of scholarly sources from both Czech and foreign authors. The second part of this thesis presents empirical study, which was created by quantitative questionnaire survey. Main goal of this part is to find out, which institutions in Region of Ústí, that provides education for older adults, are well known for the respondents. Quantitative research investigating the differences between four groups of paramedical staff is part of the empirical section. Estimation of Cognitive Plasticity in Old Adults Using FIE

5 Abstract The work deals with the development of cognitive skills by the method of the Feuerstein Instrumental enrichment for seniors in a residential care. It should clarify whether the Instrumental Enrichment Program is practicable when working with seniors and how it will affect the development of cognitive abilities of these people. The theoretical part deals with the period of the old age, the cognitive specific of seniors, the contemporary views on the brain functioning, and especially with the Instrumental Enrichment Program.The practical part includes the results of the qualitative research. The main method of data collection was a " dynamic assessment " of the cognitive test and the case studies. The qualitative results evaluation of the Addenbrooke cognitive test showed the improvement in the solution methods almost in all levels ( input , elaboration and output) . The results of the study showed that the Instrumental Enrichment Program is very suitable for the seniors. Its use is meaningful not only for clients with mild cognitive insult but it is also very effective for the people with more severe degrees of dementia.
Residental Social Services for Seniors in Valašskomeziříčsko

The name of this Bachelor thesis is Residential social services for seniors in Valašskomeziříčsko. It introduces residential social services for seniors in the region and attempts at evaluating their current situation. It presents their main problems. The thesis is divided into seven main chapters. The beginning of the thesis is devoted to old age and aging. The introduction of these concepts is there. It describes basic human needs and problems associated with old age. The middle of the thesis is concentrated on social work with seniors. Its specificity and description of responsibilities of a social worker in a residential social service for elderly people are performed there. Next part of the thesis names social services which are provided to these people. The following section focuses on region of Valašskomeziříčsko, on its characteristics, community planning of social services in Valašské Meziříčí and local social services for seniors. Spiritual needs of clients of the Charity home

Abstract: The bachelor's thesis deals with the problems of spiritual needs of the religious sister living in the Charity home. The research was done in the form of an anonym questionnaire and a structured dialog. 59 respondents aged 72-97 were asked. They were divided into three groups: religious sisters living in the Charity home (28), religious sisters living in the convent (15), and senior-women living in the old people's home (16). The research confirmed the importance of spiritual needs in the sphere of practicing the faith for the religious sisters. Compared with the senior-women the religious sisters showed themselves to be more satisfied with the fulfillment of these needs.
