Lukášová, Pavlína ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Dotlačil, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis deals with possible interconnections between two concepts playing a big role in contemporary business and IT world. These concepts are Business Continuity Management and Cloud Computing. In the scope of this thesis there are certain areas identified where both concepts are complement, where Cloud Computing brings new opportunities for Business Continuity Management and where could possible problems arise during particular implementation. From the BCM perspective the impact lies on IT services, from the Cloud Computing perspective the thesis deals especially with security aspects. The thesis is also aimed at the characteristics of higher education and basic differences from commercial sphere. Based on defined differences and identified interconnections between BCM and Cloud Computing, the thesis argues for usage of suitable Cloud Computing solution for higher education regarding Business Continuity improvement. The multi-criterion comparison of several Infrastructure-as-a-Service solutions stems from this analysis focusing on technical, financial, and Business Continuity aspects. The result from this comparison together with conclusions from previous chapters serve as an input for subsequent practical proposal of Cloud Computing solution and its verification against Business Continuity improvement in specific conditions on University of Economics in Prague. The proposal is also represented by strategic map.

Practical testing of current virtualization technologies, comparison of services on Czech and foreign market
Rudolf, Michal ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Pavlíček, Luboš (referee)
The main objective of this work is to provide information on the newest trends in hardware virtualization technologies and Cloud computing. At first, the work provides information on the functioning principles of all types of virtualization technologies. Key terminology relating to virtualization technology is explained here. The main part of the work comprises practical testing of chosen virtualization technologies performance. Performance testing is done by means of benchmark applications that measure the performance of the most important system parameters. During the testing, virtualization technologies are compared according to the attained results. The result of the testing is a summary of performance overhead of individual virtualization technologies compared to physical server without a virtualization layer. The last part is focused on identification of main players on expanding Cloud service market, whose services present an alternative to purchasing one's own hardware.
Cloud computing with regard to technological aspects and changes in infrastructure
Vítek, Daniel ; Donát, Jiří (advisor) ; Bruckner, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis discusses the new way of delivering IT services over the Internet widely known as cloud computing. In its opening part, cloud computing is put into a historical context of the evolution of enterprise computing, and the dominant issues the IT department faces today are mentioned. Further, the paper deals with several components that make up the architecture of cloud computing and reviews the benefits and drawbacks an enterprise can have while it adopts this new model. One of the primary aims of this thesis is to identify the impact of the technology trends on cloud computing. The thesis brings together four major computing trends, namely virtualization, multi-tenant architecture, service-oriented architecture and grid computing. Another aim is to focus on two trends related to IT infrastructure that will lead to fundamental changes in IT industry. The first of them is the emergence of extremely large-scale data centers at low cost locations, which can serve tremendous amount of customers and achieve considerable economies of scale. The second trend this paper points out is the shift from multi-purpose all-in-one computers into a wide range of mobile devices dedicated to a specific user's needs. Virtualization is a promising information technology industry today. Whether for reasons of economies, achieve high availability of services, or facilitate the administration etc., gets more and more benefits. With the development of virtualization has been the transition from simple emulation, which was simply procesed as the code processor and simulated a complete computer, the hardware assisted emulation or Paravirtualization make the directing of this process has become almost negligible - literature generally indicates less than three percent. Virtualization also opens the way into the most demanding server applications, where in addition to high availability of services depends also on the optimal use of available hardware resources. The first part is a description of the reasons brought the benefits of deploying a virtualization server environment. The following section discusses virtualization techniques, their characteristics, advantages and disadvantages and most common server virtualization products. In the next chapter are explained the ways to achieve high service availability in a virtualized server environment, and examples of products of VMware, which is the industry leader. Chapter discussed concepts such as cold migration, live migration, technology VMware High Availability, VMware Fault Tolerance, and more. The last chapter is devoted to the practical part of the bachelor thesis. Describes hardware preparation for the experimental environment, the setup, configuration, problems during preparation laboratory network and the installation of dedicated virtualization product, VMware ESX 4.0 64bit. In last part will be describe installation and configuration monitoring software, OpenNMS on server virtualization. At the end, will be examination how fail activities impact on virtualization monitoring software and how rescue this software application VMware ESX 4.0.
